- The church of Woldendorp is located on a salt marsh embankment on the Eems and is one of the oldest cultural areas in Europe. The thirteenth-century church and its cemetery have recently come onto the market. Harm Jan Wilbrink wonders whether we as a society want that, because according to him, medieval churches belong to all of us.
Harm Jan Wilbrink is a guide at the Oan 'e dyk foundation, a non-profit organization in Peazens-Moddergat on the Wadden Sea. In the winter, he organizes trips to southern Italy. His passions are nature and history.

Het is eeuwig zonde en moet niet mogen verkocht worden. Onze eigen cultuur moet behouden blijven want weg is weg en komt nooit meer terug. 😪

Cultuur is geschiedenis. We moeten ook niet in de geschiedenis blijven. Het heden ontwikkelt zich, en niet in de richting van kerken. Dus we moeten wat met die gebouwen. Het is niet realistisch om overal musea van te maken. Dus ik ben wel voor iets anders, maar ik vind ook dat de buitenkant onbeschadigd moet blijven. Kortom ik sta er nogal dubbel in.
@@ronaldderooij1774 Bedankt voor je reactie. Ik heb het niet over kerken, maar nadrukkelijk alleen over de middeleeuwse. En daar is een beperkt aantal van en dat onderhoud kunnen we als samenleving best betalen. Dat hebben we tot nog toe ook altijd gedaan met monumentensubsidies en dat kunnen we blijven doen.
