    I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.

    • @alexyoung3126

      Dividends are dope. Personally, I sometimes use my dividends to buy other dividend and growth stocks for diversification instead of reinvesting in the same stock. To each their own methods though. The good thing is that you’re investing in the first place and that’s what’s important.

      I agree. Based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well-diversified portfolio that has experienced exponential growth. It's not only about having money to invest in stocks, but you also need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.

    I started buying some more stocks at the beginning of the year, but nothing big. Why am I treating this so harshly? I still want to be the first person in my polygamous family to make a million dollars despite the fact that others in my field make six figures per person. If the market has taught me anything, it's that it usually makes a comeback, but I can't seem to concentrate on the long term, especially because important things like my retirement and my reserve are having a disastrous impact on inflation. Currently, the best market strategy is to work with a credible investing coach. Since a while ago, I've been in touch with a coach, mostly because I lack the depth of understanding and mental toughness to deal with the ongoing market conditions. You lack the information necessary to succeed in a competitive market, not because you're doing anything wrong, but rather because of your lack of experience.

    Interesting how over 2% inflation has been a concern when central banks and the Fed begin to hike interest rates. I consider the rising interest rate to be a very serious issue since it will undoubtedly cause more investors to withdraw their money from the stock market. But then I'm still aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

    *>Dividends are a great thing, but they’re only really effective for passive income when you either have somewheres over 20 to 25 thousand shares of a high yielding stock. Meaning you likely need to have a few hundred thousand if not more invested in it. Re-investing dividends back into the same stock certainly does snowball with compound interest, but you only really start seeing it after 16 years of never stopping and likely needing to add additional money of your own with it….so it’ll be time consuming and costly. The way I see it if you have a million dollars at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 95 to 120 thousand in dividend income*

    • @saraRay273
      @saraRay273 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. There’s only one reason, and it is a place to park your capital to pay you a small return with large established businesses because you aren’t trying to grow your portfolio anymore, but to live off of it. It’s not much different from bond investing

Remember, a lot of his investing experience and subsequent advice occurred during a time of historically high interest rates. That’s why he would stress the importance of the balance sheet, specifically the debt factor. Following his advice could have spared many from the terrible losses that have occurred during the past few crashes from investing in over-leveraged companies and could have helped one to remain safe during the past year and a half of interest rate increases.

    Yes folks - we'll be fine and survive. Life moves on and so do we. Markets move further. Money needs to be deployed by fund managers to get returns. At some point, that's what will happen because it has to. That's how the system works - you have to beat the inflation to make money for your pension funds, endowment funds, 401Ks, sovereign funds, entitlements, wealth management funds etc etc. and you aint doing that by just hoarding cash. You aint keeping rates at 5% either; rates have to come down to perhaps ~3% and the markets move forward.
    Stay patient, keep investing and likely by end of this year/early next year we have a resumption of a slow grind up and a much better sustainable market rally underway by 2025.
    Good luck to you all!

    I think this recession is only the most predictable recession because more and more people are more financially educated today than before. Look at the 0 commission stock brokerages today. It is allowing anyone to start trading and learning the market. Before most people don't trade and don't really pay much attention to the market or state of the economy. Thus will only become more common. I don't know how this will impact the economy and the market. But certainly the market behavior has changed significantly since this change. Market should not be rallying when there is a banking crisis, high inflation with aggressive rate hikes, etc. I think market is evolving into a casino where the large institutions is the casino house dealing the cards on the table and people wager their bet on how the house will pump or dump the stocks.

    I think a lot of people discount the role of timing in some of these success stories. There's no doubt that Peter Lynch had the right temperament for investing in the 70s and '80s, but it's also true that that was a pretty unique time in the American Stock Market that is unlikely to be repeated. That's not to say that you can't make money moving forward, but rather to say that I don't think the same strategy hold true and I don't think the same people who made money in those decades with necessarily be the same people making money in these decades.
