You make it sound like a walk in the park. I wasn't as lucky at all. I had trouble urinating for 3 days after my surgery and got constipated from the pain meds. It was miserable. Super painful and uncomfortable. I am on the fifth day now i can finally walk without the constant pulling sensation and pain in my groin. I had laparoscopic double hernia repair and I am 41 years old and healthy. Everybody will have a different experience for sure.
I was up every half hour during the night trying to urinate a thimble full, chose to do that than the dreadful catheter. Yes urinating was the big problem for me but everything else went well. Still getting that hernia pain when I do push ups however.
Hi Jim, thank you for making this video. I’m 58 and in the same situation you were in with bilateral inguinal hernias. I’ve watched a lot of videos with people saying it was excruciating pain after surgery, as you can imagine I’m quite terrified of going thru the surgery. Can’t decide between open or laparoscopic as I’m hearing bad pain stories on both. I’ve been through open heart surgery and hoping that if I can get thru that maybe this won’t be as bad as the stories I’m seeing here. You are one of the rare encouraging videos here, again thank you.
Like you, I was terrified after watching TH-cam videos. Listen to your doctor. I just had laparoscopic robotic inguinal one sided surgery done, on day four now and even after day one, I had discomfort but never took narcotic. Do the surgery because the alternative could be strangulation of the hernia and a trip to the ER; it could be life threatening. Any temporary post op pain is worth it, trust me. You'll do fine.
Oh sure the first day is fine. The worst part comes after that first day when your body kicks into healing mode. It’s been a month since my open left inguinal hernia surgery and I still limp when I walk and it still hurts a little bit. When you run out of those pain killers get ready for maximum pain.
Hello Jim, I am going to get the double inguinal surgery in early August. I just got knee surgery a week ago for a meniscus tear. I am kind of nervous about getting it done because I also watched videos where guys were talking about excruciating pain but after watching your video, I feel less nervous. Thanks for that. My question is my hernia on the left side is smaller then the one on the right side, did your Dr. recommend just doing the large one and doing the small one if it gets bigger in a few years ? My thinking is, I might as well do them both instead of going through the surgery again. What kind of laxative did you take ? Thank you and God bless
I am Having open inguinal surgery on July 3rd and have a concert scheduled July 23rd. Was thinking a 5 hour drive to concert then hotel 3 days and then 5 hours back. 19 days after surgery. Im thinking to cancell concert. Whats ur opinion my friend? Thankyou for ur video.
My third surgery ended up being laparoscopic and the healing was much quicker. I had to have my right side repaired 3 times. I think it was the surgeon that didn’t do a good job the first two times.
Hi, I know this is a old post, Hello, I had open surgery. Did you experience having a hard bulge at the end of the incision site? I had my surgery about 2 weeks ago.
Tomorrow is my surgery thank you for the video.

How did it go? I am going in for a double shortly. I have a third umbilical but don't feel like facing the fire of 3.
Hows your knee now 6 years after meniscus surgery? Did you have a torn meniscus trimmed out by the surgeon?

Here's the deal guys. You GOTTA take your pain meds. Follow your doctor's instructions. Do not skip your medication.
Set a timer so you don’t sleep through your next dose. Learned that the hard way after back surgery
Thanks for video. Having double surgery what is better open or lipo
