Thanks for the very easy and simple how to! I liked the dual phone camera / screen record, helped a lot to make sure I was on track. I had to use the LineageOS default recovery instead of TWRP, because for some reason it got stuck on TWRP and kept boot looping. I updated mine from the very last Essential update, and it worked fine. I had a few hiccups here which I managed to fix, but I'm posting them here incase anyone else also got an Essential phone late to the game (like I did) and wants to use Lineage: 1. Fastboot doesn't recognize device on "fastboot devices" Install drivers for Essential phone (official Essential is down but I searched for 'essential phone windows drivers' and used the androidcentral links) 2. fastboot -w didn't work for me, but it *did* work if i downgraded the adb-setup to 1.4.2. Using Lineage recovery, it has its own factory reset anyhow. 3. Flashing to recovery mode during TWRP didn't work: I got stuck in a boot loop every time I tried to go to recovery mode. I think it's because it's from 2018, and there's no newer TWRP (that I could see). I used the Lineage recovery .img and loaded that instead, put myself back into normal phone mode, turned on Developer mode, then went back into bootloaded. Installed the Lineage .img again, then I had to follow the wiki for the rest of the installation, but it was straightforward. Thank you for the tutorial!! I found this and the Unlocking bootloader video more helpful than any other tutorials I saw so far.
My phone is stuck in Android resting with saying no command and before it in bootloop and I haven't been able to do recovery mode because I hadn't created backup of software version and now I can activate fastboot mode but how should I install new Android or any operating system????? And adb command to push the os is not working , this do not take command that include adb and stucked in bootloop???
I installed the TWRP 11 on the XDA link, but when I boot into recovery the touch screen doesnt work :/. I can flashall back to factory, but cannot get TWRP to work.

Does the LineageOS ROM offer any new features e.g. Always On Display, double tap to wake the screen , Google Lens or better battery life? Kindly compare the Lineage ROM with the native Essential Phone ROM.
After I flash boot TWRP in my phone and then after reboot it shows Android resting with no command and recovery mode doesn't work becz I haven't created backup what should I do???
Use updated TWRP image to boot into TWRP on one slot. Now flash your rom to the other slot. Then boot from the slot you flashed your rom too. Your phone is booting into recovery. You may just need to activate a slot or switch to your other slot

Chris Panton I've been watching your videos for 4 days straight I wanted to revert back to stock Android but everytime I click and run as administrator flash all it pops up for a second and them goes away. It doesn't show me how long I got left or anything
Chris Panton better yet. Instead of going to the minimal adb/fastboot folder and clicking flash all, can you tell me how to do flash all by typing commands via fastboot?
Does lineage os has any bugs? And can you please make a video on the lineage os camera app on Essential phone.. because essential phone had several camera bugs on its own OS.
Hi Chris, thanks for the great video. My concern with this phone is the "micro-stutters" since I'm a slow scroller. It's very noticeable to me on my PH1. You are saying this does not happen when running lineage? My second question: will the updates I'm getting pushed to my phone now continue to come in/be installable when running lineage? Thanks very much

use an otg cable and connect a mouse to it...i had the same issue but you have to use a mouse ig? XD

Next time you need to type a file's name in CMD just press tab after the first couple of letters and it's going to auto-complete the rest!

Will flashing a custom rom fix the touch screen? Because mine doesn't respond at all. I have no damage whatsoever. Screen just doesn't respond

Don't think any ROM is. You'd have to flash a patched boot.img or magisk if you wanted to

Essential isn't providing any more updates to the phone. So having LOS installed will allow for your device to be updated
