Excellent video Chris. Just successfully installed 8.0.0 on my Essential. It took a couple of tries to get to my C:\adb directory but once I got there, everything went smoothly. Thank you

Which Beta did you download from Essential's website? There are currently three there now.

Seeing as how Oreo doesn't bring any huge must-have changes over Nougat and if the final version Oreo is due out before years end, I think i'm going to hold out on the Beta. Thanks for the quick look though.

Thanks I was able to sideload the beta by following your tutorial. Only problem I had was windows was hiding file extensions and I added a .zip and adb could not locate the file. Once that was solved I had no problems.
"Total xfer: 1.00x" What does it mean?
If u can see both sensors (monocrome and colour) of camera of Ph1 are not working simultaneously in naught. Does it is different in Oreo? Please check after updating both sensors working simultaneously to take photos. U can check covering them one by one while shooting still photos. Please update.
Mine got stuck at loading zip. Any help??

I am using windows 10 and maybe this is a dumb question but when I shift right click in the folder to open a command line, i do not have that option.
you shift right click and select the powershell window, thats the replacement for command lines, the commands are a little different as well. instead of just using "adb" you have to type in ".\adb" then the rest of the command is the same

Hey! Loved the video. Wondering if there's a way to go back to nougat? Oreo's been pretty buggy for me.
I get Dell adds when I want to upload the adb
I have made two attempts to sideload my phone now. Both have failed because the Update Timestamp is older then the latest timestamp already on the phone. I have factory reset thinking this would fix the problem but no joy...
Is there a way around this or a newer Oreo zip file available?I I downloaded from Essential website
How long did it take for your phone to verify? Mine didn't do anything in 5 minutes. It doesn't show the percentange on the command either.
can get it to work keep saying the package version to install is older than the one on the device i get a aborted error.
try sideloading beta 2. I think your issue happened because you might have been on the december patch while beta 1 is on the november patch

hey can you please help me , this put my phone in a bootloop and i got it to turn off then i tried turning it on again and now it says DEVICE STATE-LOCKED and gives me options to power off , Recovery mode, restart bootloader, or start, please help i dont know what to do and i just got the phone today , please and thank you
Yo, if you're stuck verifying, try using a USBa to USBc cable instead. it started working!
Are you still liking your Essential phone on Oreo? Did you move to 8.1 Beta by any chance?
I've been running LoS actually. But 8.1 beta is a great improvement over stable nougat

i was having issues in cmd but it worked in powershell win 10. but now since i updated to December security the installation is aborting cause its a newer build then the beta. anyway to easy roll back to November. this is my first android phone
