I would recommend a thermal printer to print out your labels, save money on ink and paper. always a ton of them on the marketplace. Also charge for shipping on top at full price, with the discount you profit on postage. I sell my stuff at the same price as comps do that offer free shipping but add the shipping ontop
Just starting the process of setting up my new business, got all the inventory, just working out all the other pieces, these videos have come in so clutch and are a HUGE help, thank you so much!!!
I put bubble wrap inside my DVDs use the offcuts. I’m super fussy and would have wrapped both big books individually as they could have rubbed against each other. Adjusting the cardboard is a game changer grumpy granny showed this and scoring the cardboard makes it easier to bend. Great video and enjoy your trip to the USA ❤
I have a couple of questions that I have not been able to find the answers to. 1. How can I estimate the postage on eBay if I don't know where it will be mailed? I hear it can cost more the further the city is from me. I won't know where to mail it until I sell the product. 2. If someone buys multiple items at once, how do I correct the postage for multiple items? Thanks.
Great video. Very simply explained so thank you for that. I especially liked the international postage explanation, thank you. I hope you’re having a great time in the US.
I would personally buy a huge roll of void fill and stay well clear of bubble wrap! Foam rolls are so much better and more protecting! I’d recommend EVRI as a courier, you don’t need to worry about all this measuring parcels etc and it’s incredibly cheap!
@TheAussieFlipper I've noticed that Australia Post charge extra for using your own packaging/boxes. For example, $10.60 for their packaging to $14.50 for your own. How do you get around that or is that what you're coping as well? Cheers.
Hey Matt, quick question. If you are doing postage for multiple orders. Once all the labels print, how do you know which label goes on which package? Do you add notes to the labels so you know what label belongs to what box?
The only time I'm not posting same day is after 4pm friday to 9am monday as i don't trust items sitting around in the red mail boxes in case of theft and or the occasional box that gets burnt down, it happens, other then that I ship items every afternoon after my normal job. nowhere near the scale you're doing though, but still a extra $500 a week is nice
I’m wondering why do you print your labels in colour? Saves on toner if you select black & white instead… or maybe you just did it for the video? I must figure out how to get two on one page.
Hi. I'm in Melb. Do you have any videos that helps us newbies makes sense of understanding and selecting AU standard services within the ebay calculator (as at Dec 23) And especially now Aust post rates have increased and there are other services such as Sendle in the market? I'm trying to sell a single book that weighs 1505kg and is approx 22cmW x 28cmL and 3cm thick and wondering the best way to go about it. Free or buyer pays shipping etc. I understand that ebay calculates fees based on the combined cost of shipping and sale and would like to create some sort of spreadsheet to at least estimate a reasonable sale cost based on previous sales, but also the possible cost of shipping. If you choose to post with 'free' shipping, what is the best way to set up postage for domestic items and keep a handle on sale/profit costs. Hope you can assist and make sense of this. Possibly I'm mixing up a few things. Aust post and ebay websites are not the easiest to navigate. Sorry for the long winded post. Thanks. Andrew
Gday Mate! I am researching to possibly become a ebay reseller maybe even fulltime. I have a ton of questions, but this time I am wondering if in your experience is it better to go with free shipping or to charge shipping to the buyer and why? Absolutely love the vids and have been binge watching them for the past few days, love your work..
i like the free shipping model - it's what I've always done (a perceived buying benefit for the customer). Both options don't lose profit which is what many people don't understand it's just a way it's positioned to the buyer. Happy to schedule in a call to go more in depth! Thanks for watching!
@@TheAussieFlipper Yeah I noticed that you do mentoring and if I decide to go all in I will definately hit you up as you have a wealth of knowledge and also just seem to be a great bloke aswell. Cheers for such a quick reply.
@@SidicArtsI have printed what counts towards it it’s on the Australia post website too worth a look. Make sure you give them your barcode first post office workers have told me they can’t cancel load of you know what but don’t get caught
I saw a video on another channel, where they had the original shoe box (as I also do) and put them in a clear poly bag. Just wondering if that's another good option, or just slip em into a satchel to save a bit on weight. Cheers, Greg
Bubble wrap is expensive. I go to my local Harvey Norman and rummage through their big skip bin at the back of the shop. It is full of bubble wrap and foam, some small boxes. Saves me on packaging.
I'm finding the eBay postage labels means the buyer pays a lower postage rate and the printed label costs me more, meaning I have a shortfall in the postage paid to me and then by me. What am I doing wrong? This is not ideal.
Hi thanks for this very helpful video.. just with the cost of the postage after you packed and weighed and put into the postage calculator do you let the customers know of this $$ or you have a pre set cost already on your listing be it local or international postage cost like as an approximate guide for buyers?
Pre set international rate that the buyer sees but I do free postage model for domestic so the buyer doesn’t see. They still pay the postage cost it’s just bundled into the buy it now price
I have a question that I can’t find an answer to in your videos: I often work away for a couple weeks and I can’t figure out how I’m going to post the items I sell if it’s purchased whilst I’m on site. How can I communicate succinctly - either within the listing or directly to the purchaser - that the item won’t ship until I’m back? I know listings can be scheduled but I’m not sure that helps. Any help would be appreciated.
You either go on time away mode or set your postage time to 7+ days or whatever it needs to be. Both will limited the number of sales you generate though unfortunately. I’d try train a friend or family member to do the post for you while you’re away to make it look like you never left
I’m from the UK and I can’t believe how complicated and expensive Australian post is! It’s cost Matt more to ship some dvds than it has for me to send a 15Kg parcel to the states, it was also insured upto £300. To produce labels here we just make payment and scan a QR code at the shop and labels are printed for you.
I’ve had nothing but positive experience with sendle and have sent hundreds of parcels with them. The only issue I have is that some regions are way too expensive compared to auspost but some are cheaper. I’m interested to learn more about others experience with sendle.
I think we need 2023 on how to set up shipping through eBay. The other video you have is good but is outdated as your backend is totally different to mine.

He accounts for postage in the price, ‘free postage’ just looks better to buyers

I 'blank out' bar codes on Bunnings boxes and anything else I think may confuse Aust Post; particularly any product hazard logos etc.

Thanks for this video. I have never had the confidence to ship to an overseas buyer but I will have a go after watching this.

Australia post is more reliable
What is void fill
Awesome video Matt!!!! You’re the best at providing information!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Hope this video helps! Happy selling, you got this 😊
Is your postal company you use cheaper than eBay shipping I looked into pirate ship and it’s about the same price

Hey Matt,
What do you recommend printer wise? Need some help understanding how to print and use labels, cheers!
Hey Matt, quick question. If you are doing postage for multiple orders. Once all the labels print, how do you know which label goes on which package? Do you add notes to the labels so you know what label belongs to what box?
in Australia Post there is a field called "Your reference (optional) " You can put order details in here so you know what label goes to what order
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you for this video!
thanks for watching!
Great video! just started in this space and your info is very helpful, especially for a fellow Aussie!
Preciate you watching Damon! So cool to have you a part of the channel!
Thanks Matt , great tips and tricks 😅
Matt,
I don't know if you pay for your butcher's paper. I use newspaper as a filler. It is free and environmentally friendly.

Hey Matt for the small items you post off can you just put them in the post box or do you have to take them to the post office
Gday, when you ship things do you need to get a label printer or can you just write their info on the package?

Just curious does buying bulk boxes, tape, bubble wrap etc from aus post count towards getting your band level upgraded?
Nope. Just the postage

I wish when you import the orders into auspost then weight and size is already entered bc I put it in on eBay and not do it manually every time

Smart!
How do you ship caps? Do you use a box or a satchel/mailer?
box always
Why do people make out like shipping is so difficult?? It really isn’t rocket science
Do you have any reccomendations for bulk dvd lots?
You need to fill customs forms for overseas. Do you always offer free postage? 😊

Have you ever used Sendle for cheaper postage?
you'll have dramas with sendle, they're so slow some times as you rely on random couriers delivering with sendle.

At 8.20 you say everything when it comes to box is determined by weight is not true as every weight has a cubic maximum size
you have to weigh every box. that's what I'm getting at?
