I feel so emotional seeing this. A place of welcome - a place that removes barriers, and restrictions. I am neurodiverse and the sense of peace and intergrity that pervades this design is a delight for folks like me.

Wow, yes they really smashed it out of the park with this.. A fantastic project and all aspects of the design working well together. Has made the wonders of nature accessible, shared the joys pf West Dorset. A brilliant project.

Incredible achievement. Stunning level of finish, planting and feels really calming. Although, sad to see highly polluting wood stoves have been installed - these are proven to belch toxic gases, harmful particulates and carcinogens. Plenty of clean fuel choices available these days which won't expose healthy and vulnerable guests to such vast air pollution.

Many thanks for your comments Andrew. The wood burners aren't a primary heat source but provide a bit of atmosphere for guests on a winter's night. The firewood comes from woodland we manage behind the buildings next to which we have just planted 1400 trees.

@@NickRead-z1h Hi Nick, good to hear there's other heat source options on site, I imagined so. While the wood may be sourced locally, this doesn't reduce the impact of pollution released once its burned. No tree grows as quickly as it's burned, so the commendable notion of planting 1400 young trees balancing out the Co2 released immediately on burning the more mature trees will take decades to balance out. The woodland ecosystem would much rather any dead wood is left in situ to recycle the nutrients back into the woodland. It's also worth noting that even modern well-maintained stoves are prone to leaking (check out the white paper from Sheffield University re leaky stoves, something the manufacturers gloss over), so there's likely an increase in indoor air pollution too (an air quality measuring device will confirm). I do understand the sensory benefit of watching something relaxing like flames, but of course this could be achieved more safely via suitable lighting. And, British weather being what it is, the smoke will often be wafting through and around the complex, meaning guests with lung or breathing sensitivities may be breathing in the smoke from another property on the complex even if they aren't using the stove in the place they're staying. I wonder if displaying some signage about not using the stove on mild and still evenings, which is when the smoke hangs around at lower altitude for the longest, would help reduce some of the issue? I know I'm banging on here, but I'm greatly saddened that stoves aren't (yet) regulated out of existence, they really do so much harm to our air quality. Check out the websites 'Mums for Lungs' or 'Doctors & Scientists Against Wood Smoke Pollution' for more info, if of interest. My gripes re the stoves aside, it looks a stunning and peaceful place to be - it will make a real difference for everyone lucky enough to come and stay! Wishing you every success with everything meanwhile :)
