- This song was originally written by Harrison for Ronnie Spector (formerly of the Ronettes) in 1971. Only the backing track was completed before the sessions broke down due to Phil Spector's health problems. However, Ronnie Spector's guide vocal can still be heard on the final release, especially during the fade-out. The song remained unreleased until 1975 when George recorded his vocals on it, along with several overdubs, most notably Jim Horn's tenor saxophone, which added to its radio-friendly appeal. It was released as the lead single from Harrison's sixth studio album, "Extra Texture."
"You" reached number 9 in Canada and number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1975 and received substantial radio airplay.
Lyrics:
(one, two,
one, two, three, four)
I, I love, love
And I, and I love you
Oh you, you, yeah you
And you, you, love, love
And you, yes you, you love me
Yeah you, you, yeah you
And when I'm holding you
What a feeling
Seems so good to be true
That I'm telling you all
That I must be dreaming
And I, and I, I love you
Oh you, oh you, yeah you
And when I'm holding you
What a feeling
Seems so good to be true
That I'm telling you all
That I must be dreaming
Now I, oh I, I love, love
And I, yeah I, I love you, I love you
Oh you, you, oh you
Oh, you know that I love you, oh oh oh
Oh, you know that I love you, I love you, I, I said I love you
