Wow man, the third video in just a week. You are amazing man! I need to step up my game. Great stuff as always!
Excellent tutorial buddy. Beautiful images too. TQ
Waiting came up several times in this video. Something I need to learn to do more. Impatience is the enemy.
The shot at 12:29 is stunning, so many different layers of light! It just feels unbelievable. But in a great way of course!
Thanks Nigel, very informative and it was a pleasure to meet you at the gallery Saturday and view your stunning work.. have a great trip to Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks for coming
Enjoyed this, I notice most if not all of your edits in post are very subtle, nothing extreme and I think that style makes it easier with compositions, you see the image as is. Also you rarely take an image with a black and white conversion in mind, love you release a video on a Sunday morning, perfect time.
I enjoyed this video so much, I had to watch it again to get the nuggets of learning. Nicely done and thank you.
Great video Nigel. So great to see you out and about again after your long layoff with the back operation. There’s a tremendous amount of work goes into producing and editing these videos, thank you for your dedication…
Sure looks like good calm times strolling around near waterfalls and mountains. Often there are such focus on getting that light (i do it as well) but there´s a lesson to be learned in that great photos can be made by the shadows aswell. Have a great week Nigel!
I enjoy all your videos but I have to say that all your recent outdoor videos are very refreshing. I love them.
Thanks.
Great work Nigel! Magical light by a master Magician of light!
Nigel you are so a very good photographer. You can use the light and this is the key point in photography. Very good Video.
Terrific video Nigel. I shoot in Glen Sannox quite often but I wish I had your eye for composition. I'm going back sometime soon with your advice very much in mind. I live just a couple of miles round the coast from Kildonan. It's a fantastic depth of winter sunset location. Thanks for all of it. Very much appreciated.
I've noticed that just before golden hour, the blue sky gets at its highest saturation if there is no clouds around at the oposite direction of the sunset. So it's possible to get a nice not too bright blue just before golden hour sometimes.
Loved this video. As someone who takes my camera with me on dog walks/days out with my wife this is so helpful as I'm often shooting during mid-day lighting!
Thank you for covering this subject. I recently traveled from Australia to your area on a holiday with only "chance time-frames" at any one place. Literally no opportunity to plan for light. It occurred to me then that there is an opportunity for TH-camers like yourself to cover working with any light. And how to do traveling photography working with any conditions.
This fine new video documents very fine, its not the weather, not the light, not the lens or the camera, its only the person behind the camera that produces exzellent fotos.
I don’t feel so bad about my photography after seeing how much effort you put into getting these shots
Most the time, this light is where I get to shoot more so thanks for the tips!!
I often take walks in the woods with my camera on sunny days. Recently I challenge myself to look at light differently, one of the things I was focusing on is high and low key images. I thought to myself, how can I find high and low key images in different settings, specifically in the woods on sunny days. I asked myself what would a high and low key image look like in the woods? With very speckled light I thought, oh, low key image. All I have to do is find an interesting subject that is highlighted by one of those rays of light coming through the woods. High key is more difficult I think
Thank you Nigel, super interesting for me that you can learn so much about the effect of light in the middle of the day. It was lovely meeting you this morning at your exhibition, we will cherish our copy of the Spirit of Luskentyre for years to come, appreciated.
Great to meet you too!
Inspiring video - I came away with ideas on how to use light to better separate elements of a scene
A quick note about midday sun if you don't mind Nigel.
There is a huge difference between summer midday light, and winter midday light.
Go far enough north and the golden hour lasts all day in the winter.
*Guess I should added far enough south in the southern hemisphere. 😉
Yep - Iceland in the winter is short day but amazing
Great video Nigel but to be honest you did not shoot in harsh light, I am in Australia and the conditions that you shot in was very good light for me. Thanks for the tips on layering very good thank you !
As usual, your work is amazing. I love it. Thanks so much for all you do.
As always, great advice! Thanks for taking me along!
I love the shade of dark blue of the sky of the shot at 12:46! That's something that i always try to achieve...
If anyone has some LR hints... it would be highly appreciated
Such a helpful video Nigel thanks again 👍
Another amazing video Nigel, plus some really great tips for light. An inspiration as always. Really enjoying your UK trips, makes me wish I started landscape photography when I lived in the UK (before moving to Germany). Just about to rewatch the previous 2 videos from Arran.
Great video as usual Nigel.
Some really good advice on how the light falls to get better image's.
Great image's as usual and drone image's.
Look forward to the next one.
Thank you!
Great video Nigel - so many useful tips, thanks!
Great Vlog as always Nigel, Love all the Hard work & travels & details you do, was great to see your work in person & chat with u at The Spirit of Luskentyre
Exhibition. from"phocal inspiration" 👍
4:31 I seriously thought there was a cow laying on the ground behind Nigel, it was a pile of rocks.
Nice iPhone wallpaper, Nigel. 😀
On a more serious note. There's a row of Moreton Bay Fig trees beside a road on Norfolk Island. They have huge buttress roots and are very photogenic. I unfortunately photographed them in the middle of the day a few months ago and they just look a bit meh. I'm hoping for some fog next time I'm there, or I'll just visit them early in the morning and spend a lot more time on them.
Ha ha! I wondered if someone would spot that
Nice... Lots to take into consideration. Thanks Nigel for bringing light awareness as a powerful element to photo captures. Wow! Great learning as usual.
Another excellent video, thank you.
This is the style of your videos that I like best. My personal preference is bright sun - but, I live in Hawaii...
Thanks Nigel, I had too much light on a recent shoot. Looking away from the light worked well. 😊
Very nice, Nigel.
Inspiring as always. 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Always good seeing Ailsa Craig from the other side.
07:56 are you did an image stacking here or if not what was your focus point ? it's sharp all over the image and it's amazing
Oh man! I’m loving this series of videos from Arran, reminds me very much of the Cadair Idris area in north Wales. Definity going to have to get a road trip sorted and get up there!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video again Nigel, loved the drone pic of the lighthouse. I took a lot in about what you said about waiting for a cloud to come over when shooting in the midday light. I tend to struggle with the dynamic range and harsh lighting. Oh, the link to your Rab Downpour pants doesn't work, error 404.
Do you remember which video you talked about how to use the Orton effect only on highlights? Cannot for the life of me remember! And I’ve totally forgotten how you did it haha thanks for all the great videos Nigel, you truly are one of the best out there mate.
Just apply a histogram to the layer and shift to highlights
@@NigelDanson🤦♂️ yep that makes so much sense haha
Which app you used for locating where the sun goes down. Thanks
Apart from all your usual brilliant hints and tips which are really helpful, i was curious about the iPhone app you were using to show the sunrise direction in your location. Which app is it please Nigel? It looked like it could be useful. Really like the style of your videos as ways to showcase fab landscapes and the helpful sharing on hints and tips.

Thank you.@@NigelDanson
How are you coping with all these hills and mountains after your operation?
My heart would be banging against my rib cage, if it were me. Lol
Great video again where I can learn a lot, Nigel.
One question I have, which app do you use at 1:48?
Many greetings
Wolfgang

Thank you, Nigel@@NigelDanson
photography is mainly about waiting, feeling and shooting is the cherry
Hi Nigel, in your last video you mentioned the importance of a correct space for editing (for instance with lighting). House important is neutral colours on the walls around you?
Not too important I don't think
Waiting a few minutes can change the mood of the photo
Does anyone know who the female musician in the background is ?
Maybe my old eyes but how about leave up still shots up a few more seconds so one could appreciate them more🙂
First!
And?
@@stevemozzie6497 and also the trees
Hey Nigel, what kind of a ball head are you using? Looks pretty nice!
