    Haven't even made it to 2 minutes in - already this is going on the wish list for the dream "Things you really really need to know from the get-go, but nobody else will explain to you simply" video mix Jake is one day going to compile to save other newbies from beginner's mistake after beginner's mistake :-)

    Thank you that was the best most informative nock fit video I’ve seen. Also well done on iterating the intro making it shorter makes your rich and informative content more engaging and consumable - well done

    Your advice years ago about how super critical nock fit is for shooters under 30# otf was incredibly important for my daughter. It's helped many of my OAS shooters excel.

    When an arrow is too tight it defies space time and that’s bad juju, got it!!

    So frustrated at the companies that make archery equipment... for being such a precise sport, all the makers are just all over the place with everything they make. How is any casual shooter supposed to know what to get - let alone what they have. I literally have to create a spreadsheet just to keep information on everything I buy and cross my fingers when I make a purchase. grrrrr.

    I found this out by accident, bought new arrows for my hunting bow, they were the same size/ weight. Wanted a different color, so I just grabbed some off the shelf. Went to shoot and the new arrows had smaller nocks and shot 3-4" higher at 30yds. Went to the archery shop and they let me know the issue with the smaller/ tighter nicks was the arrow can lift off the rest ever so slightly causing the higher shots. Got the right ones and back in business

    I have found with my Olympic Bow, when the Nocks are too tight, I think you lose arrow speed as well... The arrows hit low at distance.

    Great vid. When you pulled the arrow to check nock tightness, what are you looking for exactly? For example, is there a maximum displacement or force before the nock lets go of the string that you prefer?

    Yes, isn't amazing how the best of intentions and tuning is negated by a $0.10 nock. I got lucky, tried nocks from 4 different manufacturers......one fit the string perfectly.
    If you use broad heads, the other $0.10 that'll mess you up bad is the insert. Many never realize it.

    How do you decide on a string? I'd assume a thinner/lighter string will accelerate faster, but will be easier to deflect?

  • @adamkilroe9840
    @adamkilroe9840 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because of my draw weight (72lbs), I use a slightly thicker string than normal. I've used dental tape to do the nock serving, doing about an inch in total, finding the correct nocking point, then re-serving upto this point, then going back to form to nocking point itself. It works really well.

  • @chrisgio9961

    I got my first setup today. I forgot to ask where does the nock go on the string? Would it go low or high with the wrong placement of the nock?

    I have an arrow flight issue that's causing them to spiral in the rear end. I've slow motioned videoed the rest which drops away in plenty of time but it seems the rear of the arrow drops and hits the rest. Could a low nock point be the obvious culprit? I'm brand new guys so give me a break lol.
    The bow shop i bought it from set it up and I don't know enough to question anyone but something is happening. Please help

    I am just an absolute beginner so I have a beginners question. Where can I buy larger nocks? Inside diamter is .244. I apparently am looking in the wrong places. Thanks

  • @adiem1653
    @adiem1653 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well I've just looked at the ones I had bought with my bow - they appear too tight. I looked at one I bought to replace a damaged nock - it's too loose
    Can't win!

    over this summer my serving has worn down between the nocking points to the point where i had to re-nock some arrows with tighter ones. is this normal? not confident to reserve the string

    how significant will a "bad" nock fit effect a grouping a 70m?
