@njerikiarie8928, you are looking at Uganda from the outside. Your view is highly influenced by Western rhetoric and media. What you don't get is that we actually like what we have here. Our country is not in any form of crisis. While H.E President Museveni has his weaknesses, he is to a larger extent a great leader. A man of the people and a celebrated pan-Africanist.

In Uganda Museveni is more of
Your king and you have allowed him Long to do as he wishes. Ruto is just a leader and we are ready to remind him if we think he has forgotten.
So Kenya is for all Kenyas. But you Ugandans have allowed Museveni to sit on you as his own property.

He needs MPs to be on his side to push his agenda. MPs on the other hand are more interested in re-election than anything else.

I am surprised by the shift to make Uganda a victim of the riots in Kenya. The correlation they are seeing is spurious and not of a direct attack on Ugandan infrastructure. Kenyans love Ugandans and the Gen Z were peaceful in the 3 weeks demonstrations. The infrastructure and property destroyed was done by goons paid by politicians. I challenge the facts provided by some of your panellists who are serving in the Ugandan government, they are biased in opinion
Secondly, the panellists are living in the past. Constitutionally the power belongs to the people. The government was put in place to serve the interests of the people and not of foreign puppets. When government goes rogue, the people are allowed to take back power they delegated.
Third, Kenya has a progressive constitution. we are not using a colonial constitution. Kenya knows its problems. And the Kenyan populace have a solution to their problems. Uganda can only take lessons as it is, they can't advise. Uganda lives in a glass house, they can't afford to throw stones.

How many people died during Ochuka's alleged take over of Moi's govt, how about during the political wars between auto, uhuru and raila. It always happens within a few hours or days. Suppose it stayed on for months and years like ither nations, kenya could be empty. One day Kenyans will appreciate Uganda's quietness to these 40 years. We know where we have come from. We are not a democracy neither a dictatorship, we are just enjoying our peace. What the riotous are destroying, they are going to pay for it thru more taxes; the worst is yet to come.

If these are the kind of discussions that go on in Uganda, then they have a looooong way to go . Very long.
In Kenya, power belongs to the people, and they can exercise it directly (the way they did recently) or indirectly (through elected representative). Whatever is being discussed here doesn't apply to Kenya. We have a working constitution.

As a Kenyan listening to your debaters, it's just funny. The President has full control, it was just that the whole people had issues with the Finance bill. Then on the issue of Ministers, in our old constitution we could select MPs to be ministers. In the new 2010 constitution, it doesn't have such. No need to have a minister as mp.

Andrew Mwenda is applying the Ugandan constitution to Kenya. In Kenya, power is with the people. At. 1. Not elected representatives. Even after elections. The people can exercise that power directly and that is what we did.

Let me educate Ugandans over the protests in Kenya led by young people. The recent demonstrations in Kenya have been primarily triggered by public outcry against the proposed Finance Bill 2024. The bill includes significant tax hikes, which many Kenyans READ and argued, will exacerbate the already high cost of living. Specifically, the bill proposes taxes on essential items such as bread, electronics, and cooking oil, which has led to widespread discontent among the populace. Additionally, the government's push to increase taxes is driven by a need to raise revenue to manage the country's substantial external debt, which stands at about 68% of Kenya's GDP. This has sparked further anger as many citizens feel the government is prioritizing debt repayment over their economic welfare. However, the SIGNIFICANT concern was and is the government's mismanagement of public funds (some of which are borrowed then mismanaged) and corruption (some of which are budgeted). For instance, the funds are being misallocated, then the tax burden disproportionately imposed on the poor and middle class. To note, the demonstrations spread across major cities and towns, reflecting deep-seated frustration with the current administration's policies and transcending tribal, ignorance, and class politics which have historically undermined African development, pushing it to poverty. In short, we young Kenyans (are learned) and have read and understood OUR Constitution (especially Article 1: All POWER is FOR, and By the People... and SHALL BE EXERCISED ONLY according to the WILL of the PEOPLE). Therefore, we CANNOT sit back, ignorant of the FACT that public officials use taxes to enrich themselves (some of which, with borrowed money), then impose ADDITIONAL TAXES to pay the debt. We will use ALL the NECCESSAY MEANS to restore OUR BELOVED KENYA back on the right track. UG and AFRICAN youths should learn.

What we did as Kenyans after our representatives betrayed us, is we took back our sovereign power and exercised it directly. Simple to you Ugandan people. 😂. That phrase ends all your debates.

As Andrew Mwenda please note that democracy does not demonstrate weakness;ruto can decide to bring in the army and shoot poeple in the streets this is a dictator's mindset to think so. Just as Museveni uses force, the power of the people is stronger than the president. In Kenya, the idea of shooting demonstrators will not be accepted, which aligns with the thinking that Uganda believes should be adopted in Kenya. 😮😮😮😮😮
