I'm one of the Indian musicians in the very very back playing a tanpura (drone). It was really fun to be up there with Train during such a big crazy MTV production!
You guys did an incredible job. I got me on my feet jumping up and down. You where a part of history being made. I'm sure it was a highlight in your musical career. You should be very proud of this accomplishment.
I remember seeing this event as well. Aerosmith gave them a standing ovation. I believe Steven later said he had never heard anyone do it as well as Train did. It was a phenomenal performance to me.
I can't get enough of this! I watched this when it aired originally. I waited to see if Pat Monahan could hit that note ! He hit it...and then some! Love this!!
I was already in love with Pat, now i am majorly in love with him! I love Steven, but damn Pat can sing his heart out! That's what i love about him, his emotion and energy in each song he does! Train!!!!!!
I remember watching this live with my dad; he was absolutely blown away by Pat, especially at the end. We tried to find a video of it online after the broadcast, but TH-cam wasn't a thing yet. Thank God it is now lol Hard to believe this was EIGHTEEN FREAKING YEARS AGO x.x
+Ramusiewicz -I believe that the talent of Train is much more than this. He deserves a better chance to the world to know him. He sings with his soul...so great...
+Ana R Ana, I Couldn't Agree More !!! Being a 63 Year Old 'Boston Born & Bred Native' Who saw Aerosmith When They FIRST Started Playing in Boston for Sometimes FREE & Sometimes No More Than a $2.00 Cover Charge That I CAN'T Remember How Many Times I've Seen Steven Tyler, Who in the Early Days I Actually Hung Out at Aerosmith's Apartment on Comm Ave in Boston, at Many Boston Bars I CAN Tell You Steven Tyler was Even AMAZED During Aerosmith's Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when Patrick Monahan Hit those Notes with EASE !!! Yep, Pat IS a GREAT Vocalist !!!
That note is really a powerful one to hit. The mic isn't anywhere near Pat and you can still feel the power in it. There's a reason why no one else can hit that note, unless you're trained in the style of Opera, you wont hit that note. Its the same with Heart's Alone. That spot before the 2nd chorus is a note that very few singers can hit. Not even Celine Dion can hit that note that Anne Wilson did back in the 80's
What an incredible talent. Taking my family to see train in Pittsburgh...30 dollars a ticket...what a steal this day in age. My daughter is 13 and absolutely loves soul sister... plays it over and over and over....
YES!!! Steven Tyler, and Aerosmith approved. Well done, Pat Monohan, and Train. 👏👏👏👏 Thank you for curing my ears after listening to a short of JLo completely butchering it.
Went to see Train when they were in Indianapolis for the second time. One of their encores was this cover. They had done it last time I had seen them too. I still get goosebumps hearing Pat nail those high notes!
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry said this was the best cover of their song they EVER heard! Performed at the award ceremony when Aerosmith was inducted into the Hall of Fame. It blew me away.
What a phenomenal job great fucking vocals dude I know you did Aerosmith proud that is understandably one of the hardest vocal ranges and riffs to do and You did not fail, please. I saw Aerosmith there on the crowd. He looks proud of you, Stephen Tyler that is the whole group anyway.
This cover is good enough to trick most of TH-cam into thinking that Train are actually Aerosmith. Look up other "Dream On" clips to see what I mean. Lol.
You’re here from the comment in Jlo’s version that sounded like Fergie’s national anthem ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Yep, absolutely am and damn glad about it !
Who are you, my stalker? 😢😂
Absolutely 👏🏻
What does Fergie have to do with anything?
Me too! Ayyyeeeee
You could see Steven waiting for that last course to see if he could nail it…and he did. Totally mind blown 🤯
Train is criminally underrated.
Absolutely 💯
Drops of Jupiter
YESSSS
I recommend you the work or Pat Finnerty, here on TH-cam
Pat Monohan is such and underrated vocalist. And I’ll stand by that until I die
Agreed 👏
I concur💯❤️
Same!

Aerosmith was vibing to his performance❤
I remember seeing this event as well. Aerosmith gave them a standing ovation. I believe Steven later said he had never heard anyone do it as well as Train did. It was a phenomenal performance to me.

Also one other band who does this and the singer knocks it out if the park!! Is Black Top Mojo! Y'all check it out ...you can thank Me later! Peace!!
Yo tmb creo q pasamos la mejor adolescencia cuando esperábamos con ansias los estrenos de mtv los tributos los MTV awarld o como se escriba😂
the high note blew me away.....best dream on cover ive seen....even steven tyler was at the edge of his seat lol
Pat totally nailed the scream. You can see Steven getting ready for it at 2:59 ;)
2:59
That's probably the best performance I have seen of "Dream On" besides Aerosmith's which is (and will always be) the best.
They cut the part where Steve Tyler says to the camera: "Couldn't have done it better myself"
Like a freaking boss. God, I tear up every single time. That note, man.
omg, i have remebered this perfomace for years. he nails it, such a rockstar
Train is at their best when not performing their own songs
Wow! He killed that. At first i wasn't sure but boy when he's up in those high notes... he can sing! Great band.
Just got to see Train perform Dream On as an encore in Saratoga. They absolutely rocked it. Just phenomenal.
I was already in love with Pat, now i am majorly in love with him! I love Steven, but damn Pat can sing his heart out! That's what i love about him, his emotion and energy in each song he does! Train!!!!!!
Amazing performance. I can watch it over and over and still get chills when he hits that note.
Woah!! I've never heard a better cover. If i hadn't been watching the video, I would have easily thought this was Steven Tyler singing. Phenomenal!
I remember that in the extended video after this performance, Tyler says something like "I love that band". Perfect cover, couldn't be better :)
Your right on the money I remember him saying that into the camera when the song was finished. It was really done well
Amazing. A bow to Train and of course to Aerosmith!
The BEST cover of this song I've ever heard - he did the scream perfectly - who knew he had it in him?!
LeahRT I did!!!!!
Wow....who wouldve known...I love Train already but this just...blew me away...I never knew Pat could pull this off..i love it...GAWD!!!!
I remember watching this live with my dad; he was absolutely blown away by Pat, especially at the end. We tried to find a video of it online after the broadcast, but TH-cam wasn't a thing yet. Thank God it is now lol
Hard to believe this was EIGHTEEN FREAKING YEARS AGO x.x
Oh man this gave me chills.
IMPRESSIVE AS HELL !!! Nobody Except Steven & Pat Can SING 'Dream On' THAT Way, Period !!!
+Ramusiewicz -I believe that the talent of Train is much more than this. He deserves a better chance to the world to know him. He sings with his soul...so great...

look up Adam Levine singing it 👍

Travis Cormier is RIGHT UP THERE with Steven and Pat...Listen to him sing DREAM ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm very impressed. VERY!
What an incredible talent. Taking my family to see train in Pittsburgh...30 dollars a ticket...what a steal this day in age. My daughter is 13 and absolutely loves soul sister... plays it over and over and over....
Pat Monahan blew me away when I watched the original broadcast! Its the only acceptable cover I have ever heard of this song!! Thanks for posting!

Pat has an amazing voice and great vocal skills

I love, love TRAIN... the first time I heard "Drops of Jupiter" I was hooked!
Ya existía Train en 2002??? Muy buena interpretación de la canción de los genios de Aerosmith!!
Good god that scream that's one of the best things I ever heard out this performance.
WOW, Pat. Here’s your 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐s! That takes a particular kind of voice and a LOT of skill to manipulate it that expertly.
I love how Pat went all Joe Cocker @3:07
Great Cover ! Remember seen this show on tv
Does bad ass Zeppelin covers too. Pat is just a very skilled and top notch singer. Specially for classic rock
Deym he killed it.. i could totally listen to that scream all day long.. =)

Takes a great skill to pull that song👍👍
Pat at the end thinking "Nailed it!"
awesome guitarist, toally nailed it imo... :)
I didn't even like Train, until I heard them cover this song. They nailed it.
I still can't believe the same people that did this so well could ever put out the soul-sucking crud that is "Hey, Soul Sister" or "Drive-By".
I love the sitar sound!
awesome!!!
Scratch that. This cover is good enough to trick ME into thinking that the original recording by Aerosmith was actually Train!
Así se hace un cover y homenaje, damas y caballeros!
PAT ROCKS!!!! Love him
didnt even feel like a cover i felt like pat made this song !!
damn he is sooo talented
Tyler should be scared
This cover is good enough to trick most of TH-cam into thinking that Train are actually Aerosmith. Look up other "Dream On" clips to see what I mean. Lol.

Not a big Train fan but DAAAAMN! Pat burned it up! Nobody else can do that live and sound that great....

Nailed it
Unless it's actually Aerosmith, I don't ever wanna hear anyone else sing this song ever.
Train fucking crushed it in front of the icons
