I heard of Acquire somewhere through the years but never had 1st hand experience. Then a few months back someone brought it to my meetup and played it. I loved it. It is my 94th favorite game. I definitely want to play it again.
I bought the 3M bookshelf version back in the day (mine has plastic tiles though). I have had a lot of fun and played with a variety of people and it always works. Not too hard to understand, good mix of strategy and luck.
My cousin who doesn't really know about modern board games yet (but would love them) plays Acquire with his friends. I was so proud to hear that.
A few months back, I found a 100% complete copy of the 1966 yellow-board 3M edition at Goodwill...for a whopping $1.00.

That is the one with wooden pieces! Classic. I found it at a thrift store in the early 90's for .75 cents. Still got it. Wood rules, plastic, blech...

Yeah, Tom said 2000, but he meant the 1999 Avalon Hill version.
Weirdly enough, I have the 1999 AH version AND the version they used in the video. Very happy about that. It was neat to see them show the 3M version.
I have a copy of Acquire 1999 in shrink. Got it for like $60 in trading. Probably worth double that. =)
