@@TomCat13461 - How ironic sir, I served onboard the USS Enterprise CVN-65 we were home ported in Norfolk Va . Maybe during the time you served sir there were only 2 racks . But she had been upgraded when she went through the ship yards at Huntington Ingalls in Newport News Va . When I served aboard she had 3 racks in all the berthing . I know as I had to watch the shipyard install new racks to make room for more sailors . Assigned to her this was back in 1997 to 2000. But as you know , she is now decommissioned from the naval service. State rooms which were for officers also had three rack . Unless you were a Lcdr 04 and above . My state room had 3 racks in it sir . The berthing assigned to my enlisted sailors had 3 racks. Hope this clarifies the changes sir. A new carrier with the same name will soon come out . Take care sir.
They are not like this on US Naval carriers. No they are not. There’s not tons of space, but you can actually roll over and get in and out of the bed without doing gymnastics.
1988 USN frigate my rack was starboard side just below the water line, just a little past midship towards the bow......I'm 57 now still the best sleep of my life. I had the bottom rack with three sets of curtains 😅
No, if you look closely at the structure itself, the 2 spaces for the 2 lower bunks are exactly the same, it's the lower mattress that takes some space, creating an illusion of having less height. Hi from Bordeaux, France!
When I was in the Navy, bunks like that were only two high, not three. But, since I had the top bunk, I had a little more head room between the bunk and the overhead.
I think I had a bottom rack for a year. New to the ship either got a bottom or a top rack. You had to wait on someone to leave before you could have a middle rack.
It has been so long since I slept on a ship I can't really remember, but I also can't remember a time I had trouble falling asleep! Of course I used to fall asleep in the back of a five ton truck with 20 other people driving on dirt roads. LOL
If I am not mistaken, the bottom bunk has a lower height because the upper bunks need more space to get into from the floor on up to the 2nd and 3rd. If it was as small as the bottom, I don’t think they would be able to get in easily.
Just imagine if a 400 pound person gets on top, party over me respect for army but if it goes back in the days 1940s or 50s just imagine i sleep on floor i remember my brothers had bunk beds when playing rough bed collapse mans has strong muscles so i can imagine and my brother is the size of the man in the video
Thank you for your service. I had no idea about the sleeping conditions. My father served in the Navy. I wish he was here to tell me if he slept in a bunk like that.
Coffin Racks! I was very fortunate. Went on a cruise as a Marine. Got the top bunk in my berthing area. I even had an ac duct/box above me where I put all my pogie bait and favorite “reading” material🤓🤣
I know those beds. Slept in them many years in the Navy. Most people have no idea what it's like on ship life, and they probably wouldn't want to. You get adjusted to it because you need to. Some where in fear of those coffin beds. Coffin lockers. Not a lot of space.
I'd be so clostraphobic 😂
Same.
Just watching him “squeeze himself” in that space, gives me palpitations!
Oh no no no
Noooo ….don’t close the curtain!!
I can’t breathe!
Yup
That look like the most uncomfortable with bed in the world😂.
Bravooo, t'as compris l'ironie.
Yes, a little thin slot
Most comfortable bed underway, ships rocking. Never slept so good in my life.
@@user-is8bb5pc7s Like momma carrying you around doing errands.
It’s like sleeping in a washer machine
Not many of us could handle these conditions. Thank you all for your service and sacrifice 😉🙏🏽✨
❤💯
Military rack!!!
Service? It's what they signed up for! It's called a job!
WHAT??? THAT'S WHAT OUR MILITARY SLEEPS IN???
My poor son!!!😡
Thank you for actually caring enough to say thank you!
Believe me after working 12 hrs some food and shower I sleep very well. I would do it again for all my fellow Americans. God bless this Country 🙏.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you
God bless you always
Do what exactly??
@@theposhmaniac5169what service did he render?
I can't breathe just looking at this
My fatt ass either 😳😕
I am your friend
Could not pay me enough to do that... Thank God there are people willing to sacrifice for the rest of us. Thank you for your service.
Yeah they are doing it because they are so good and sacrificing their life for you.

Thanks for posting this. I am a Navy Vet and it brought me back many memories. Served aboard carrier USS John F Kennedy out of Mayport Fl 2000-2003.
lol i work on that ship on those years ... i used to buy fried gizzard on the pier...
Thank you for sacrificing your comfort for the sake of those you protected.
Thank you for your service and dedication and sacrifice. May God bless you and your family.
I'm next to NAS Jax! Thank you for your service!
Many thanks for your service.
You'd find me on the floor...no way am I getting in there. I was taking deeper breaths just watching.
There isn't any more space on the floor, unless you want your whole unit stepping on you!
Completely agree
Same here 💯
Comfortable, because those sleeping in it just finished a long hard days work and now it’s time to rest. Sleep well and stay safe.
The sham we call human life. A species destined for slavery, struggle and strife.
Sorry I'm feeling claustrophobic already..
Certainly not for me ..
Same just by looking 👀 😢
Est-ce qu'ils ont vraiment le choix ?
I know it wouldn't be allowed but I would rather sleep on the floor.
🤣🤣
I’d pay to sleep in that bed 😂
I'm claustrophobic to the point that I prefer to sleep on the floor
I agree. I can't be anywhere without a window.
Youll be soaked when a pipe bursts. Not if when!
Agreed! Let alone trying to sleep on your side!
Same on United States Naval Carriers they are called coffin lockers.
Except on carriers, they're only two high, not three.
(Radarman 3rd Class. USS Enterprise. 1966-68).

Yet another reason I have so much respect for the sacrifices of our service members ❤

In the Navy I slept in one of these bunks for 3 years. And they're comfy. Not like home but it'll do!
Claustrophobic
I'll take the floor instead 😮
I won't be able to sleep.therr. just by looking at it, I can't breathe
I would FREAK OUT!!!!
nope I toss and turn too much. bottom mention the claustrophobia
My claustrophobia is kicking in already
This is exactly what racks (beds) look like on Submarines! I slept on one for several years!
No, no, no, no. I could never, ever sleep in that closed a space. I'd think i woke up in a coffin
I like to sleep on my side, that would suck.
Better on the floor 😮
I cant breathe just watching this
He can’t even roll over
If you’re not claustrophobic!!!!
I remember those days on a warship❤
No way. I would feel so trapped! Especially in the hoodie too! Can’t even roll over in there without your shoulders touching the top!
This is terrifying.
Oh no, I truly have claustrophobia!
You can't even turn over in this. Wow. No repositioning at all. Lay flate and deal with it.
You see that floor next to the bed, um yea that's where i would sleep.
Thank you for your service...but....oh nooo! Definitely not.
Coffins are definitely more comfortable than this bed!! Dang that's rough.
I would hit my head 10 times every morning when waking up 😂😂😂
Why are you late for work? Trying to get out of bed your but hitting my head trying lol keeps knocking me out lol
Thank you for your service 🙏🙏 🙏
Thank you for serving
The claustrophobia would give me a panic attack. 😱
This is how you make a person clausterphobic.
If not already
It takes my breath away! 😱
Ummmm no. I’d sleep on the floor:
Thank you for your service ❤
Omg...I remembered this days aboard the USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37). THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
Nope! The most claustrophobic bed in the world.
Big nope here. I do not like caves.
1988 USN frigate my rack was starboard side just below the water line, just a little past midship towards the bow......I'm 57 now still the best sleep of my life. I had the bottom rack with three sets of curtains 😅
Always three, inter laced!
Hearing the water would be soothing. Thank you for your service.
I lived on ship, and the bunks were exactly the same although this guy, the middle bunk is down too far low stealing space from him needs to be fixed.
I agree. I don’t think he can sleep on his side in that mess. Someone needs to look at that.
No, if you look closely at the structure itself, the 2 spaces for the 2 lower bunks are exactly the same, it's the lower mattress that takes some space, creating an illusion of having less height. Hi from Bordeaux, France!
@@michellucia3626 exactly.
lol you're telling me you live on a ship and you don't even know that middle rack is open.
I could never. I have anxiety watching this! 😅
Thank you for your service!!
I'm fat, how do I fit in there?
With you there...but I'm not claustrophobic
Nope to tight of area for me id freak out
Hell to the nawnaw

Claustrophobia is a b***h for me so noooooooooo, I’ll pass
My stomach is knotted and my breathing rapid and shallow just looking at this.
Oh, hell no!
Reminds me of having an MRI done
Can"t sleep with that very low clearance. If I suddenly wakes up either I'd hit my head or I won't reach in time the bathroom to pee.
A lot better than being homeless
I RATHER BE HOMELESS, SLEEPING ON A PARK BENCH😢WITH BREATHING ROOM ALL AROUND ME,I AM SO CLAUSTROPHOBIC IT'S A SHAME 😢
That is the Dracula coffin in 2024!!!

How tf am i supposed to wack off in there?
😂😂
When I was in the Navy, bunks like that were only two high, not three.

well you live in stateroom not enlisted berthing
Thank you for your service.
The o'le coffin rack
I think I had a bottom rack for a year. New to the ship either got a bottom or a top rack. You had to wait on someone to leave before you could have a middle rack.
There's no way , claustrophobic 😅
Și eu 😂😂😂😂😂...
Oh noooo
My beds on The Enterprise, and The Coral Sea were the same size. You get used to it. Having the top rack is the bomb!
Panic attack in 3...2.........
Claustrophobic. Not an option for me.
It has been so long since I slept on a ship I can't really remember, but I also can't remember a time I had trouble falling asleep! Of course I used to fall asleep in the back of a five ton truck with 20 other people driving on dirt roads. LOL
How do you turn on your side?!😮 NOT for me!
Shoes thicker than the mattress
Tf is that? A coffin bed?
It doesn’t look at all comfortable
Nope !
The top rack is where it’s at. You get better air when that air stops blowing out the vent. I would always have the curtains open on the bottom rack
When family is getting bigger and you hire a Chinese architect to save space
Very narrow, can he even turn ?😳
Until you try and turn or sit up.
That's Navy ❤
Hope you don't have the runs, you will be in big trouble. God bless.
If I am not mistaken, the bottom bunk has a lower height because the upper bunks need more space to get into from the floor on up to the 2nd and 3rd. If it was as small as the bottom, I don’t think they would be able to get in easily.
same spacing the middle rack is open
Is this the Navy 🤩👍🏻 ship or submarine?
Imagine having a bad dream and waking up all of the sudden
That is not a bed that is my worst nightmare~Yikes thanks for your service and I pray none of you suffer claustrophobia.
Dude no way my big belly fitting dey and what happens with earthquake
People like us won't have space to rattle in an earthquake, so we'll be fine.
looks like Navy 😂
Dude literally crawled into a sarcophagus.

As a retired sailor I remember my first coffin rack . I was 18 years and end up sleeping on the same bottom rack.
Thank you for your service. I had no idea about the sleeping conditions. My father served in the Navy. I wish he was here to tell me if he slept in a bunk like that.
My claustrophobia just kicked in!!!
