You are right, in summer it is best looking, but you also have a lot of tourists going up and down river into the vineyards to taste the wines. I am Portuguese and never did this road, not even by car, but it is somewhat programmed to be done with some friends during a 3 day weekend... ;) so thxs for scouting it for me :D :D
Thanks, yes I can imagine in the summer it is just incredible!! All of the plants and trees will have blossomed etc... True it would be great over a long weekend, sampling all of the different wines and winery's. It was my pleasure sir 👍
Wow stunning views! You're so lucky to have it all to yourself. That chapel was lovely. Please show us what you're eating. Looking forwards to the next one, can't believe it could be more beautiful.
Thanks, yes it truly is stunning out here! In the summer all of the trees and plants will have budded so it will be even more beautiful, all of the colours etc... Really really special place . To be honest it is a lot of cheese and bread haha, I have caught a stomach bug yesterday so feeling a bit worse for ware today!! A part of travelling I suppose. A day in bed today!
👍 highly recommend it, its a stunning place! Well worth a visit. O wow that sounds like a fantastic trip, I would really like to do Norway this summer 🤞
@@redangrevival I went for the west coast of Norway last summer. Stavanger, Haugesund and into the magnificent Hardangerfjord and Sogn og fjordane. That area is a riders paradise and utterly stunning scenery. Highly highly recomend it. Oh and you must ride the world famous Trollstigen road then!
Even being a Portuguese living at Porto, I never get tired of those kind of roads, no matter the clowdy wheather. In fact it's not only about the EN 222 but about all those gurgeous hilly back roads reaching deep valleys or high altitude primitive sanctuarys, enchanting river beaches, beatiful rocky lanscpapes. Interior Portugal has an infinite number of such spots to explore. For me , living in Porto, the only problem to reach these marvels is needing time to get far from dense urban traffic. Most of portuguese population is near the Atlantic and these paradises are located at somehow depressed areas. BTW; The train you saw in the other border of river Douro is one of the most unique experiences you can have in Portugal along a river: from Régua to Pocinho and back. I made it several times only for the pleasure of the eyes. Have a nice trip.
Yes your right, taking a detour off of the N222 some of the smaller country roads are just amazing!! Such a beautiful place, it is perfection. I could explore here for ever! O thanks yes the train looked fantastic, I bet that would be a brilliant journey, right along the river. Many thanks 👍
I have just found your channel. what a great video, really infectious enthusiasm and beautiful footage, it really makes you feel like we are there with you. I can feel a binge watch coming on tonight.👍👍👍 Ride safe
👍 awesome thanks, so glad you liked it. Yup it is so nice out here, some really beautiful roads/scenery and the whole place to myself haha!! (nearly). Thanks
Hi Angus,I hope you have had an enjoyable day and from the latest video that I’ve really enjoyed you are lapping up the thrills and wonderful twisty roads up in the north. There is another road which might interest you,it’s the N2 from Chaves to Faro which is 674 kms so once you get here, you can then enjoy the Faro motorcycle festival 👍 Have a great night😊
Hi Simon, Thanks so much, yes it has been going incredibly well so far!! Just love it here, what a beautiful country. Yes I was thinking of doing that road, but decided to focus more up north. Sounds incredible though. Nicknamed Portugals route 66!! 😁 Unfortunately I do not have the time to make it down to Faro, which is a massive shame as I would have loved to visit the festival. Perhaps I will fly out for it if I get the time 👍 Thanks
Yes beautiful area. Reminds me of Tuscany and the Apennine mountains in Italy. The most beautiful river/coast hugging road ........maybe, there are quite a few contenders to choose from all over the world. For me roads around and adjacent to the Italian and Swiss lakes Garda, Maggiore, Lugano and Como take some beating. Also roads in the Alps and Haute Provence are pretty spectacular as well as the Picos in Northern Spain. I would have thought that in summer a lot of the green vegetation would become brown and dry due to the heat. Good for the vines. Some of those bumpy little roads I bet you wish you were on a Tiger 900 Rally Pro or GS? I don't remember there being that much travel in the Speedmaster's suspension. Hopefully in the time you are in Portugal you will see more spring blossom. ATB.
👍 Thanks, yes its gets more green and vibrant along the river as I edge closer to Porto. Italy is definitely on my hit list for a tour some time! Haha maybe a bit more comfortable on a GS but not as beautiful! Cheers
Gawjus! Wow man, thanks for taking us with you. Looks like a blast, hope you're enjoying the trip! (It's a bit greyer back home too, some nice twisties in Devon but nearly rained upon...!)
👍 Thanks, yup it is just stunning out here. Having an absolute blast, loving every minute!! That is a shame about the weather in Devon. Makes me feel a bit better though 😉 All the best to you and I hope the weather brightens up soon, Cheers
Looks epic, great video, I have an 8 week trip booked in September from Santander and am inspired to spend a few weeks riding through Portugal and will deffo do the N222
Hi Angus great to be able to follow you again on this trip. It looks fantastic. Ride safe and take care.. and your wobble could be you're bearing start to go. ?? Check and see if there's any play in the front wheel.
Hi Frank, so pleased your enjoying the journey again 👍 Yup it is stunning out here having a brilliant time! Such good roads. I will do thanks. Ah yes I think that maybe what it is, the tyre pressures are fine. It seems to have a wobble at the front end when turning into a corner 🤔. I am getting her serviced on my return to the UK.
Many thanks Robert, glad you liked the vid 👍 It is truly stunning out here. I have a de-cat and the Vance and Hines slip ons. Cheers, sounds pretty sweet!
Porto? I would be looking to sample port wine that Portugal is famous for, of course after you're through riding for the day! You will need to do this again in the late spring/early summer so we can be treated to all the new growth colors. I did get a bit nervous when you mentioned the front end of Speedy felt odd but I'll assume all is well!
Yup Porto, I will definitely be tasting some Port 👍. Delicious!! I know I was a tad disappointed as in early summer it really would be fantastic scenery and colours. Still very beautiful now though. It gets better the closer I get to Porto. She seems to still have a very slight wobble at the front end when leaning into a corner 🤔 Tyre pressure is fine.
👍 yes it is magnetic. It is good, nice leather and looks the part. Unfortunately it is not water proof!! Also the magnets are very strong which is good, but it has scratched my tank a bit!! Just have to be careful with it. From a company called "Trip Machine"
Hi. Thanks for the video 😊 about to by a Speedmaster and a few questions. I’m 184 cm and would like to here what your opinion is about the wind screen you have, and the head buffering, is it bad? What brand? Also, the panniers is the std Triumph right ?
Hi, so the screen I got from Triumph. To be honest it does create some buffeting, and at your height maybe quite bad! However I prefer riding with it on longer journeys. The panniers are Triumph, small capacity but great quality 👍

Oh no! You poor thing. Keep hydrated, avoid milk products and if it's still there after 24 hrs, see a doctor. Take care of yourself Angus 😘
How stunning! Love those twisty mountain roads on a bike.
👍 yes it is so beautiful, and all the better being on a motorcycle. Such nice flowing corners and twisty roads. Heaven!! Cheers
Always wanted to ride to Portugal. Am planning a tour from Oslo Norway to Italy in the summer and simply cannot wait.

Brilliant idea to go in March/April, before the tourist season. Love your work man
Hey thanks so much Neil, yup it is so quiet. Literally nearly have the roads to myself, and accommodation is so much cheaper than peak season. Cheers
