Wyald not appearing in the show ruins the animes entirely Wyald is to show that Guts is now capable to taking on apostles so whenever he’s fighting off dozens of them in the eclipse it makes sense and doesn’t feel random. At that point Guts had thought that Wylad was what Zodd was referring to when they first encountered him. They kept the horse scene. They kept the blood sacrifice and rape of casca but no wyald was to much. They literally cut him for being what he was supposed to be. Which they would've known had anyone fucking read the source material. Wyald is the way he is the same as why all apostles are the way they are. The behelet turned them into monsters driven by their deepest desires. Zodd has murdered and conquered thousands of lives in his near 300 year existence because his deepest desire way everlasting strength and power. Mozgus became a monster of the divine as he saw himself as and most desired to be the right hand of God and was granted his angels and his divine form and wings. Grunbeld was made a dragon from his legends of War. Wyald deepest desire was to be able to freely indulge himself as he liked and regain his youthful primal strength to live as he please. As in his previous life it seemed he only lived at the whim of others. Wyald was horrible I'm not saying he wasn't. But he was also a major plot point and driving force in the series in terms of guts development, apostle lore, and motivation for Griffith. People gotta stop the oversensitivity man. I understand everything he did was wrong and horrible. But you didn't see akira toriyama and company cutting out Hitler and the nazis in the fucking janemba movie. No one bats an eye at orochimaru's entire fucking character being related to untested experimentation of people and children all the while pining for the body of a 13 year old boy whose family and clan were brutally murdered by his own brother on an order from a rival clan. Who seems to be everyone's favorite character despite the fucking genocide. But no Wyald was to much right
My theory: Wyald was an old man(I know), He could have been Priest, who had little agency in his life, so when his most desperate moment came, he wanted to have his own agency, and sacrificed either friend or his own caretaker
@@AshtonWilliams-iu3cs Thats his new identity as a Wyald, he had freedom beyond any restriction, he could do whatever he wanted without being afraid of loosing any of it. He was imprisoned by choice, cause he wanted to endulge in his sadistic fantasies. He was free from all boundaries, even the moral ones, thats why he's this degenerate
100 percent would've been better if they Kept wyald in the anime. Controversy be damned he was an important fucking character not only for lore reasons but also for character development
I competely understand why wylad would never happen in a berserk anime but they could made implications and flashes to all the evil shit he does without really showing it and have at least put in the bakiraka in during the escape from midland .
He should have been in the anime, pretty ridiculous the anime could show thousands of people murdered and that poor guy getting tortured with his legs brutally torn off by the Priest and can’t show Wyalds part.
Having read the manga after watching the original anime, Wyald pushed things to a whole new level, vastly surpassing what I was expecting from Eclipse (or got). It wasn't until Mozgus that I was again afraid of turning the page. That exact moment when Guts parries the spear thrown by Wyald, and the girl's head flies off, is hands down the most extreme page of Berserk. Personally, I think it was too much and I'm glad they didn't include him in the animes. He made all other apostles look like valiant creatures by comparison.
A character so depraved and sinister, he had to be cut out of both the '97 series and the Golden Age film trilogy, until he was inserted as an easter egg during the Eclipse.
my mind loves the betrayed knight Guts or mislead warrior Zodd but my soul craves for pure destruction. to me, Guts is the man I am, a struggler, Zodd is the man we Need to be, the respected, and Wyald is the man we Want to be, the careless - the epitome of power.
I kind of get what people mean when they say Wyald is "edgy" , but he *does* serve a purpose. Multiple ,in fact: A) Towards the end of Golden Age, the supernatural elements had started to bleed into the story. Wyald serves to facilitate that , making the supernatural undertones become *overtones* right before sh!t hits the fan with the Eclipse. B) It shows Guts's skill level compared to when he faced Zodd. Back then he got his arse kicked by Zodd and there were even still quite a few human warriors who were just as good , if not better, than he is. But by *this point* Guts had become so skilled that most human opponents aren't even blips on his radar. Only assasins/martial artists like Silat and the Bakiraka or a prodigy like Serpico come close to giving him an actual challenge. But now, we see him go up against a *literal demon* , the same kind of opponent he was helpless against years beforehand. And he *WINS* ! It was close as hell and he had to use every trick he had up his sleeve, but he *WINS* . It does a great job of bridging that gap to Guts becoming the Black Swordsman, showing that even at this point he is perfectly capable of killing an apostle. C) Wyald also shows how *difficult* it can be to put down a *single* apostle. Making what comes next, with literally *dozens of them* feel that much more hopeless Plus, Wyald seemingly being inspired by Jekyll and Hyde is pretty cool.
@@AshtonWilliams-iu3cs Because they wanted to? It's literally their command by the Godhand. "Do as thou wilt." You may as well ask why the wolf killed the rabbit.
"To gratuitous and not serving the plot" lmfaoooo Nothing- NOTHING is too gratuitous for Berserk. It's Berserk. It's literally why we are all here 100%
Wyald was the apostle I hate the most. The panel of him assaulting that girl made my blood boil. I didn't even care as much when Griffith did it to Casca
it can be translated as either. but seeing as griffith is the falcon of light/falcon of darkness, his capital is falconia, it makes more sense to just use the falcon translation now.
I do not agree with Wyald being cut. We all know the two moments in the story that most likely got him removed, one of which (the Casca "tongue" incident) you could have easily removed from the story entirely. He still in my opinion is one of the most important characters in whole of Berserk. Not only does he play a vital part in dismantling Griffith in front of the Band of the Hawks, which brought insecurity to them and may be a contributing reason for him trying to move the cart in the first place. He also completely changed the look the characters had of the Apostles. To us viewers thanks to the first chapters (especially the count) we know what kind of humans apostles are, for the characters however they only interacted with Zodd. While deadly Zodd has a clear moral code he follows and it is through Wyald that the true nature of most apostles is taught to the Band of the Hawks. And while the count and Snake apostle surely had an impact in our view of apostles I think it is through wyald and his horrifying acts that all of us readers from the moment the eclipse begins already know what is at stake. We know how these creatures function, that they will show neither empathy or mercy and that for them it is all about Wyald's motto "Enjoyment & Excitement". Most importantly overcoming him, is basically the first win against an apostle. Yes Zodd did the killing blow but guts got him to the point himself alone at which he would have died unless another sacrifice is held, so this is the first apostle kill by Guts. While I do not think that Guts would have given up regardless, I think overcoming Wyald also gave Guts the additional Strength and motivation to keep struggling during the Eclipse. So yeah a shame they cut him, I think it would have been possible to cut the casca scene (leave in the farm house to really show how horrible he is) and it would have been edgy but fine for the story.
Am i the only one sick of how overused the word edgy is becoming, of course it applies to certain situations and makes sense but it's way too overdone nowadays to describe anything that's actually legit dark and sinister.
If you enjoy the art, you do yourself a disservice by not acknowledging all of it. Censors are terrible people and don't deserve their jobs end of the day.

@daddydonovan6108
What about the rape?
@@AshtonWilliams-iu3cs Thats his new identity as a Wyald, he had freedom beyond any restriction, he could do whatever he wanted without being afraid of loosing any of it. He was imprisoned by choice, cause he wanted to endulge in his sadistic fantasies. He was free from all boundaries, even the moral ones, thats why he's this degenerate
@@AshtonWilliams-iu3cs The thing is thats what the agency is, its the extreme freedom without restrictions
Suggestion for a video: Silver Hawks. That'd be wylde. Lolz
100 percent would've been better if they Kept wyald in the anime. Controversy be damned he was an important fucking character not only for lore reasons but also for character development
Please, do Jaws from James Bond.
I competely understand why wylad would never happen in a berserk anime but they could made implications and flashes to all the evil shit he does without really showing it and have at least put in the bakiraka in during the escape from midland .
Wyald is pretty wild.
He should have been in the anime, pretty ridiculous the anime could show thousands of people murdered and that poor guy getting tortured with his legs brutally torn off by the Priest and can’t show Wyalds part.
Thank you.
Your the reason why we don’t have an anime adaptation…
You're the reason why the anime sucked
@@Coyoteblack What?
Also, wrong you’re, but that’s the least of your worries cognitively
Wyald was just a teaser to the horrors to come.
A character so depraved and sinister, he had to be cut out of both the '97 series and the Golden Age film trilogy, until he was inserted as an easter egg during the Eclipse.
@_GeneralMechanics_
Where is he in the eclipse?
one of the best!
Right on man
my mind loves the betrayed knight Guts or mislead warrior Zodd but my soul craves for pure destruction. to me, Guts is the man I am, a struggler, Zodd is the man we Need to be, the respected, and Wyald is the man we Want to be, the careless - the epitome of power.
Wyald did show up in the Berserk Band of Hawk game but obvious reasons lead to a very abridged encounter in the game.
Never read that chapter, didnt even know it existed.
one of my favorite apostole
until he transformed - while being on a horse he was great
I kind of get what people mean when they say Wyald is "edgy" , but he *does* serve a purpose.
Multiple ,in fact:
A) Towards the end of Golden Age, the supernatural elements had started to bleed into the story.
Making what comes next, with literally *dozens of them* feel that much more hopeless
Plus, Wyald seemingly being inspired by Jekyll and Hyde is pretty cool.
Wyld and his raiders r*ping and killing the villagers is one of the most disturbing parts of berserk for me. It truely makes me fucking nosious.
@milesdeforest3931
Why did they do it though
@@AshtonWilliams-iu3cs Because they wanted to? It's literally their command by the Godhand. "Do as thou wilt." You may as well ask why the wolf killed the rabbit.
Saddest part was, the Band of the Hawk members who got killed by Wyald ended up being the lucky ones.
Why not mention his appearance in berserk band of the hawk?
"To gratuitous and not serving the plot" lmfaoooo Nothing- NOTHING is too gratuitous for Berserk. It's Berserk. It's literally why we are all here 100%
MAPPA taking the Berserk IP let’s see if they can do it justice
Wyald literally has the mug of the Grape Horse.
He seems really cool
Wyald would of fit well in the fist of the North Star
And Puk was the reason why Rickert was never branded and I think Wyald is the second apostle to appear before the Eclipse
❤❤❤❤❤
Wyald is like the worst Viking/ Mongol pillager type
Miyazaki should put a reference to wyald in Elden ring lol
i was wondering why he wasn’t in the anime. thanks.
Did he go to prison willingly or who arrested him?
I'm guessing he just turned himself in, he killed a bunch of strong prisoners with his hands cuffed, he easily could've handled the midland guards
@@patrickzalatoris3206 definitely turned himself in. He was still getting laid despite being a "prisoner"
yes he lets himself get jailed but knows he can escape whenever he wants and still gets to have sex in there.
They were trapped in prison with him. He was not stuck in there with them.
I remember seeing him in the video game, and thought he was a filler character
This Crazy ape man apostle Interesting character was never in anime but he does have one appearance in video games but that's something. 😈🦧👁
Literally me
Wyald was the apostle I hate the most. The panel of him assaulting that girl made my blood boil. I didn't even care as much when Griffith did it to Casca
why the "do what thou wilt" quote? curious. 93
“Not in anime for a reason”? No, there is never a reason to abridge for the sake of censorship.
Isn't it the band of the Hawks? They just never received the title
Falcon? It’s the band of the Hawk!
it can be translated as either. but seeing as griffith is the falcon of light/falcon of darkness, his capital is falconia, it makes more sense to just use the falcon translation now.
@@cunott280 ah that is fair, I’m new to this franchise so thanks for that
@@bentaylor4948 no worries man. Hope my answer didnt sound condescending. Hope your enjoying the world of berserk.
Can you do a video on Rakshas
hmmm4_4 the fairy was young Goood show kinda nice
So no one’s going to ask about who caught Wyald and sent him to prison?
5:00 Wyald is Mach 6.44
There is a reason his name sounds like wild
Am i the only one sick of how overused the word edgy is becoming, of course it applies to certain situations and makes sense but it's way too overdone nowadays to describe anything that's actually legit dark and sinister.
If you enjoy the art, you do yourself a disservice by not acknowledging all of it. Censors are terrible people and don't deserve their jobs end of the day.
Wow, they don’t want to show the rape of woman and naked bodies on TH-cam, truly a tragedy that they don’t want their video to be taken down.
He shows up in the Berserk Game
