I have always loved these bike. I dreamed about owning one one day. Started on a Honda 650xr. It’s was a lot for me so I next got on a Yamaha 250 tw. I learned how to be comfortable on a motorcycle on that little 250 BUT after not too long I needed more. Next was a BMW f650gs and this was a delightful motorcycle I loved the bike and had for years. Next up was BMW k75 and this bike also was such a great bike it took me far. Finally I found myself on a retired police model BMW 1150rtP it felt so perfect. I loved that bike so much and to this day I truly believe that the BMW R1100rt and 1150rt bikes like the one in this video are a near perfect designed motorcycle. I love the way the knees fit in those cups and well everything about these bikes it great. The suspension the engine the controls the shape. To this day I still dream on being on one again. Great video great bike.
Had my R1100RT for 22 year’s,I have bought other bikes kept them for a summer then sold them nothing comes close to my RT for comfort reliability and handling and any weather riding,as for the electric screen totally awesome.
I bought a used 2002 R1150RT. It only had 7600 miles on it so it seemed like a really good deal. It's a single spark so, of course I had to add a piggyback ECU to stop the surging. Burned a valve at 26k. Still uses a qt. of oil every 2500 miles. Fully linked brakes so it can be dicey at low speed turns...especially with the super sensitive power assisted brakes. It's very top heavy and I thought I'd get used to it but I didn't. I've tried a number of different tranny lubes but it still clunks going in an out of gear. Parts and service at the stealership are outrageous. I do all my own work. If it weren't for that and China and EBay I couldn't afford to own it.
Gearbox "clunk" is perfectly normal. Don't worry about it! They did it from brand new! It ain't Japanese! Oil use again, is perfectly normal. It's spelled out for us in the "manual"... See my previous post about other niggles...
Had my 2001 R1150RT for three years and love it. Gearbox a little agriculture, odd turn signal switches but overall a well performing bike. Seems most comfortable at high speeds on motorways and no problem 2 up with luggage. Keep up the video's
I'm not even close to buying this bike, and I just randomly found your video, I'm not a Christian but like your energy and the way you review the bike, so I'll support you with a subscription🙏🏻🏍 Ride safe🙏🏻
I own a 1999 K1200LT, which is the 4 cylinder "Version" of this bike, and I absolutely LOVE IT. It's the second BMW I have owned, and the second LT, the first one being a K100LT. I have nothing against the R Bikes, and toyed with buying an R1150RT like the one tested here, at least until I saw and bought my K Bike? I have in the past owned a 1500 Goldwing, as well as two Harley's, plus numerouse other sports-tourers and sports bikes, but at at 60 years of age, and 6 foot 6 inches tall, I wanted something that was comfortable, easy to ride, and handled better than it should, and the BMW meets all of those requirements.
I'm currently replacing g the clutch in my k 1200 LT. Bought an 84 Goldwing to ride in the meantime but suspension needs attention so bought a 2003 R 1150 RT to ride while others are on back burner. I think it rides better than the LT!
I've ridden 44 years in the uk where it often pisses down, I've ridden all kinds of bike including Beemers and bought all kids of wet gear too and I can tell you for nothing it doesn't matter what you wear or what you ride a day in the saddle in the pissing rain you get wet and the best thing to do is get your trip done in the least possible time, after you get some heat into those tyres.
Well fornicateu2, nice name by the way! I have done the same as you but I've only been wet one time and it felt like I was being shot with rubber bullets, I guess that what they feel like, it hurt like hell but I wanted to get home, when I got rain gear and used it I stayed dry and did not mind riding in the rain any more and I am finding riding a 1200rt with great rain tires is the best way to go for me, I've taken some rather wet corners a bit too sharp and thought I might slide but did not but then I slowed down some, I live in south Tx, it rains a lot down here at times and then you can go for a month with out it. I've had my BMW a little over three months and had not ridden in 34 years, work stopped that, moving around too much but when I was able to get time off I'd lease a bike and take off. I've lived in the UK back in the mid 60's, rains all the damn or bloody time there or is foggy, I was too young to ride, I lived in Finchley, I believe that's the spelling, don't quite remember any more, in Essex, I went to boarding school in Sussex at Hawkhurst Court, it is no longer a school, families own the homes now I believe.
@@jymebale5545 I'm in the North now but spent ten years as a London despatch rider which is where I learnt how to ride properly in the rain, I know Finchley. Rain gear is probably a lot better these days but I stopped buying it back then as it was expensive and just didn't do the job, I now only have a 'shower suit' for when I go touring, the last time in Scotland we spent three days in a torrential downpour riding from morning till 5 in the afternoon and everybody got wet even though the others had heavy gear on, it just ends up soaking through. By day three we were on our last leg to Ullapool on a decent but winding road, my ZX9R and four GS1200's, the rain was bouncing off the road and we were pushing on far in excess of the speed limit just to get it over and done with, luckily nobody slid out, the last three days of the tour which is whats now called the 'North coast 500' the clouds disappeared and we had a summer lol. We don't seem to get as much fog these days either, I put that down to having no industry left and few coal fires pumping out crap into the atmosphere, this past summer has been the best we had in years, sadly I missed three months of it due to a cracked frame and a corrupt govt body wanting money out of me to certify the replacement so I ended up buying another bike after being fked around too much.
I hate getting on the bike in the rain but once you're an hour into a run and relaxed its quite theraputic, it also makes you a better rider because if you can control a litrebike in the pissing wet you can control anything.
@@fornicateu2 I have the R1150 RT and I can honestly say riding it in the rain is no big deal, they handle the wet conditions so well ,you don't really get wet , visibility is still adequate and the way it handles gives reissuance and confidence . The R1150RT is almost the same in the wet conditions as a car would be ! Don't take my word for it go get a test ride from a BMW dealer when it's chucking it down with rain and you will be surprised that riding in the rain is just no big deal on the big twin .
@@hughjohnston I've tried one and decided I'm not a BMW man, like I said the actual riding in rain is no big deal to me either on anything after being a London bike courier for ten years I've done my share of wet rides, I just hate getting out of bed to slap my arse on a wet seat to start the day.
@@fornicateu2 I'm kind of interested in the KTM super Juke GT that one looks a little interesting and mad as hell

@@hughjohnston "The R1150RT is almost the same in the wet conditions as a car would be !" Really? If you believe that, I have some real estate investments in southern Florida you might be interested in -- just outside Everglades City.
Which I saw this a year ago. I would buy this bike. I love to boxer RT. My last RT I put over 200,000 miles, across Europe and USA. Glad you did the test in the rain. The bike is built for all weather. Handles will in the snow or rain. I rode in a tropical storm with winds and rain over 50 mph, just have to know what you are doing. Cruising on open highway is comfortable at 105 mph. Make sure you are somewhere where it is legal.
100,000 + miles easily possible with regular oil changes. Police bike, so if has to be comfortable for all shapes and sizes. Change the left hand chain tensioner to the upgraded hydraulic version as the 20 year old spring will have lost its springiness. Yes. They DO burn oil. Perfectly normal. If you READ THE MANUAL you'll see that anything up to a millilitre a KILOMETER is within spec! Lift the fuel cap, you'll see a little hole at 9 o'clock which allows water to drain away through a pipe leading down the right hand side. This WILL be blocked on a 20 year old bike. Get it cleaned out or you WILL get water in your petrol tank. Take the front cover off and check the condition of the 20 year old belt. Loosen the boot in front of the final drive. If there's any oil in there, you've popped a 20 year old oil seal. Changing a worn clutch/clutch oil seal is a BIG job. Plenty of "how to" videos on TH-cam. These things are pretty bombproof though, so long as you're aware of the (very few) potential hazards. Great bikes! There's a reason these things were bought by Police forces all over the world... After all, I've never known a Policeman to be wrong about anything, amirite? 😉
Proud owner of an 1150RT here, best bike i've ever had! Mine has bar risers, higher Givi screen, Migsel mount with ram-ball and x grip for my phone, and some other nice goodies to make life even more comfy. Just keep them well maintained, flush the brake system every 2 years and they will last you a life time.
2004 had some serious problems BMW wouldn't own up to. Had exactly same one shown. I put a way more 2001 , 1100 5 speed in because there was a manufacturing mis-alignment problem with engine and transmission. Beautiful bike other than that. Never ride in rain old cheap tires. Lower tire pressure to minimums. Be smooth and you might make it my 50 years and million miles Stayed away from dealers and did all my own work.
Have one and love it, the only difference is, I don't have the radio, yep she has one as the antenna on the left faring and mine is Red. As I love it and it handles very very well, but you have to be used to BMW rides they have their own personality. That switch he didn't know what it was, that is the headlight on/off switch, and that lever on the left bar is the high idle lever. I like to ride it but mom likes riding on the Goldwing as it is more passenger friendly. Wouldn't have a qualm at all to go across the country, but would love to do it on 2 lane roads as the Wing is a super slab mile eater.
Rode my boxer engine Blue Beast for 23 years, never had a reason to buy another. First thru the curves on road trips every time, waiting for the Hogs to catch up. Brilliant engineering.
Ridden an 1150 and a 1200 found the 1200 better... better windscreen and wind protection... that said the 1200 is the best motorcycle I've ridden. and I think the 1150 wouldn't be far off. My only gripe with these bikes is I hadn't discovered them sooner.
The throttle feels tight because it is a 4 cable system(and a nice nightmare to replace). One cable from throttle, one fast idle cable and one cable per side to the throttle bodies. They all meet at a job junction box below the battery tray which is under the gas tank and requires removal.
The BMW twins like this shake from left to right very noticeably at lower speeds. I commute and spend a lot of time at low speed. So I pass. Bought a K1200LT. Not terrible but just couldn't stand the feel of it anymore. Felt front end heavy. And just overall heavy. Also had shift linkage issues. ie., it broke and left me in 3rd gear once. Parts are VERY expensive.
@twangthing I agree, slow riding on them is very disconcerting, hate the sideways thump you get pulling in at junctions etc too, I'd borrowed the one I used and bloody glad I never made the mistake of buying one.
@twangthing Look mate I'm a biker who'll ride anything with two wheels as its the only way to go for me but certain brands which get bulled up to the heavens on both social and msm are always a disappointment when you get to ride one. I once had a full faired and boxed Honda wing which cruised great and was bought for a tour, till I had to hit the brakes with a car pullout on gravel and found I couldn't get clear of all that crap and ended up with a foot jammed under it and a broken ankle from it, I've been on sportbikes ever since, at least I can bail out of those.
Mike94560 The horizontally opposed pistons both go in and out at the same time so the engine is more balanced than any other engine piston layout. So why would the bike shake from side to side at low speed?
I love the rattling clutch disc on these bikes especially when they strip out due to a design flaw that BMW refuses to address. Nothin like being on a long ride and that clutch strips out and nobody (and I mean nobody) wants to touch it with a ten foot pole. Really enjoyable!
Stop riding it in 6th with too low rpm's, and make sure the splines are well lubricated. Clutch spline failures occur when riding them too carefully. Hammer it a bit more and don't use 6th below 85 mph, and you'll be fine.
I believe they recommend felt on the clutch rod for the rattle and there are clutches with longer splines to address the stripping out issue on the input shaft.
When I was a kid my father bought me a little toy model of this bike. When I saw this bike it felt like I've seen it somewhere. Took a while to realize it's that toy Motorcycle from my childhood. I'll definitely buy it. 2000 model. Same as that.
I have a GS1100, something to remember, do not cut down to 2nd while you're still rolling, at 160.000K's it still has compression to lock up the rear wheel.
I put over 160 000 kilometers on a similar Beemer; the seat was horrible and, relative to other bikes I’ve owned over 50 years, the cost of ownership was high - very high. But, the bike did have character. Kind of half NASA half Massey Ferguson, it’s not for everyone, and if my Thursday night Post Beemer Support Group meeting work, I’ll not be buying another too soon.
Having ridden a GSXR that was a track day bike across the greater Los Angeles freeway system aka a rock quarry. I can honestly say that any bike with super stiff suspension and what amounts to a maxi pad on a steel plate for a seat would be a more comfortable ride. There are not enough negative words in any written language to fully review how awful an RT really is.
I have a 2004 R1150RT dual plug and it's a great bike. Ask 48000 miles. I am going through everything including new brake lines, new in tank fuel pump/ filter, all servicing, fluids, filters, adjustment, and it's time consuming and expensive. I'm doing all the work. I hate to think what this would cost if I brought it to the dealer. Parts aren't too bad but sometimes they're ridiculous. The good news is there's a lot of them out there and there are used parts. Also there's alternatives to OEM parts like the intake fuel pump which BMW wants $400 for and you can get a $100 equivalent. At this age both in miles in calendar things start decaying like the brake lines and they have to be replaced. A full set of 6 lines is about a $240 to $300. That's after market which I think is probably a little better than oh yeah as far as durability.
Love this guy's positive attitude and quote that he read. He must be a true biker to ride in that weather... Salute brother. Ps you are right about BMW 's. Great bikes! 👌
oh boy!......i am waiting this video for like......a life time!.......thank you very much! in 2017 i bought myself this bike, 2003 year of fabrication, and , yes.....it is amazing. i am still discovering it, we have a lot to do together, big riding vacation plans, but it always nice to hear another opinion, especially from somebody who has so much experience in motorcycle riding and not only. I follow you for sometime, i´ll do it further ; i am not a very religious man but i like how you mix ,, the words of wisdom''.... Safe ride !
I bought one of these new back in 2004, sitting in the garage with only 3,300 miles on the clock, hasn't been on the road for 17 years 😊, still looks like new.
Thats a sweet bike . Mines a 02 r1150rt. 31000🇨🇦 miles . Every ride is better . Still running in . Feels like it's a little sporty , very nimble . K 1200 rs is got a track steering lock . I have a 03 . 135000 🇨🇦 miles. ,
I have a 95 K1100LT, nothing better in the rain, I stay dry. Until I stop. Great bike, comfy and bullet proof, other than breaking a U joint recently. Gotta replace the whole driveshaft. BMW sux on that. Not cheap. I ride my FJR when there's no rain in the forecast for the day. Oh and PS, You ROCK Sean!
With Michelin Pilot 4 tyres on my big FJR1300 it's really stable on wet roads. Have plenty of confidence in wet. Liked this BMW, would consider if I even sold FJR.
Can't go wrong with a used BMW. Maintenance history is important. My 94 K75S is in showroom condition. I have the Maintenance records from when it was new. Just tripped 37k. Had the splines lubed and a full service. Love it and will always be in my garage next to a K1300S when I find a clean one
Hi, the R1150 RT is even now a day a great tourer, but has two big issues: The first and most expensive one is the (integral) ABS with his brake booster (i dont know the correct english word for it). You can brake with one finger, as long as the ABS module works ;-) Do a full brake everytime you ride the bike, this use will keep them alive. The second one is the clutch. Its a dry one and if you have to replace it, you have to "split the bike in half" which will be verry expensive on the time needed. On a test drive shift to a higher gear (3rd or 4th) at low speed, and crank it up. Does the rpm of the engine is steady with acceleration? Look at minute 4:50, that sounds like the clutchproblem to me but we couldn´t see the speedo, so no front. ;-) Allways wanted this bike, but getting the R1150GS instead because only normal ABS there, guess why. Regards from Gremany Max
At minute 2:17 the "words of wisdom" is not from Psalms 24:7, but from Jeremiah 29:11. Psalm 27:4 says "One thing I have desired of the Lord, That I will seek, That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple."
I have 38 years of riding experience. I bought a 2003 in perfect shape. After 6 months I decided I wanted to get rid of it because it was just awful and made riding a chore. I should have followed that instinct mostly because my main concern was how unweildy it felt at low speed. My intuition was correct and 6 broken ribs, perforated spleen, bruised heart and lacerated liver later my riding of that rolling dumpster fire was over. I was not even going fast (less than 25mph) but when an off balance top heavy overweight pile of garbage topples the rider gets caught in the mix. There are 2 types of riders, those that have been down and those that will go down, if you have to go down best not to be on one of these when it happens.
@@karldegroe6056 You're obviously an older rider like me , trouble is with we old folks we no longer bounce very well and I still ride sportsbikes out of preference, I've told the family that if I come off I'm not likely to survive but I will have died with a smile on my mug.
@@fornicateu2 I am telling you it is not a well mannered bike, for something as heavy as it is, and with such a cult following it should be a much better ride. It does not even ride on par with a Ural except in top end performance which is about the only time the bike has manners. Spend 1 hour in traffic on it and you will be ready to set it on fire and walk away. And if you do spend time in traffic you'll want to put it in neutral no matter how short the stop to protect the wonky input shaft from being chewed to bits because of the poor design.
@@karldegroe6056 You don't need to tell me mate I've ridden one and would never buy a BMW anyway, overpriced German tat whose name is selling this garbage to those middle aged men who know nothing about modern motorcycles but think they're buying something guaranteed to be reliable. I've just broken a 2002 Kawasaki ZX900R which gave me 85 thousand trouble free miles, I've bought another low mileage ZX9R to replace it, its smooth, comfortable and powerful enough for anyone.
Is this bike good for a beginner? A friend of mine has one and I'm thinking about buying it from him. Also it doesn't have ABS. Is ABS a must for a beginner?
It's a great bike. Heavy and good for longer distance rides. On BMW I would say that if I were you and had a choice between ABC and non ABC, then I would definitely go for ABC! Or spend time to learn breaking on this bike somewhere on parking before hitting the road. Brakes are very sharp on BMW!
To each there own i guess. I have had 2, and i didn't like either one. I wouldn't say its a beginer bike. You could try one first. I mean they are ok on the highway.
I used to ride a Goldwing, then took my brother in laws BMW for a ride. It felt very top heavy, and the brakes were touchy. Once you were up to speed, it felt OK.
Prefer the goldwing gl1200 I'm riding out, swapping engines as my 127000+ mile engine just blew on start up. Still have to investigate but about to buy an engine tomorrow.
Awesome content. Is there anyway you check out the Honda ctx700n dct or the other with clutch. I like the bike, but not sure of the durability. I actually got to sit on one. I like how it's comfortable to sit on and flat footed. I wish I could have had a test ride. Just don't have my endorsement yet.

I had its predecessor - the R1100RT. Did 15 000km and sold it. I f...ing hated that bike. Awful, agricultural engine and the strangest thing is how wind hits you from the back due to the bulky front and the big windscreen. Never got used to it. I guess it's just not my cup of tea.
These bikes have a deadly factory flaw, there is a twist tie on the throttle cable that will cause the engine to rev up when you turn the handle bars to the right and cause the engine to stall when you turn the handle bars to the left!
I'm about to buy my third BMW bike, a 1997 RT1100 with low miles from someone I know. I had one in the passed and just loved the way it handled on curvy roads, and yes it was very comfortable in both rain and winter roads. I rode it all year around. it was very fuel efficient as well. I traded it for a BMW 1200 KT which has a 4 cylinder engine, way to powerful and gas guzzling for my taste, so I traded it in for a wife. Now the wife is worn out and my wallet allot thinner, so I'm getting myself an old affordable 1100RT.
What year is this bike? I've never seen the volume control thing on this bike before, it is more like the LT model. I have the 99 RT and want to install audio and speakers on it but can't find any info on it.
As much as i like the twin twin sound. I must admit I’d love one one their in-line engines. I’ve totally fallen for that super smooth BMW that purrs then roars
I have had one brand new since 2004. For the amount of money I paid for this bike and the name it has, it was a real disappointment. To date, the bike is doing 68,000kms (42,500 miles) I have had total failure of the ABS unit, failure of the fuel pump, muffler support breaking twice, water condensing in headlight from new, taillight dropping off and getting into the rear wheel, failure of the quick connectors on the fuel lines, rear fender busting away under the seat lock, wire looms crumbling, cotter-pin on the rear brake pedal dropping out ! This is not a motorcycle, it is a liability. It is 622lbs and is very top heavy, far from nimble. To move from standing, you really have to ride that clutch, and for slow riding you really have to work the gearbox. Oh ! I have so much regrets !! In my book, there is nothing like the Japanese machine !
Had a new 2004 R1200CL , Beautiful to look at but very poor quality! You covered what I found was "typical" for the "Beemer owner" Never again for me. So sad a tribute to "German Engineering".
I had an 03, such a pile of crap. As for top heavy I have never rode a more off balance machine in my entire 38 years of riding experience. To quote Ralph Nader, it is unsafe at any speed.
I bought a huge electraglide with a bald back tire in the rain and had to drive it 50 miles home. The back tire was a slick. Paper thin. My cheeks were puckered all the way home. Lol
The K 1600 B is on my short list of,"Probably the last bike I get" as retirement age approaches. BUT, For as modern BMW's are in the price range they are in I have an issue with a bike that is aimed at the high mileage market that still has an engine that requires manual valve train maintenance, especially at BMW costs.
You are correct Sir, a big six point six gal gas tank, about 42ibs or so and the whole bike is 605 ibs but lighter than a touring type, these are sport touring and yep, they will get real heavy real fast if you let them go over too far with out the kick stand being down, I would not be able to bring one back up, I am not that strong yet but working on it, I wish I had the crash bars on front and back, they would help some.
Having ridden Harley’s, Goldwings and K1600’s (700 to 800+ pounds), the R1200RT is definitely considered to be a light bike. My 2010 was 580 pounds and my 2018 is 605. With a 58 inch wheelbase and low rake and trail numbers it runs around town easily, goes down the highway all day long at 80 mph and 45-50 mpg’s giving a range of 300 miles, and carves canyon roads way better than any of the other bikes I mentioned. Love my RT. The only other Sport Tourer I’d consider owning is the Yamaha FJR1300. Maybe the BMW K1200-1300 but they don’t make those anymore.
I own 4 of them and never sold the ones I bought. Plus on a BMW, I don't have to put a skull & crossbones on the bike as some do on other brands. What is that crap all about.
I’m riding an r1150 rt 16 years longest I’ve ever owned a bike .becaus no other bike touches it.only problem is bmw are just to expensive to pay standard service is easy done diy but you need a fat wallet for bmw to work on it I paid a ransom for a hall sensor,if the the abs goes the whole bike goes,
He may have had issues with the hand controls as they are just as unintuitive as the ride of an RT. The turn signal, turn signal cancel button (the only way to stop the turn signal) and the horn are all stacked close together. Easy to mash multiple buttons if you have cold weather gloves on. But since this bike is really only good as kindling for a dumpster fire.....

You sure are a die-hard seasoned biker. I have never seen a bike review done in the rain and the rider loving it.
Love these bikes. Used to have a couple, now have GS's, RS's and R's. Great for all of the roads here in France. Love your videos, cheers
Be smooth and you might make it my 50 years and million miles
Stayed away from dealers and did all my own work.
Thanks for the video Sean, Taking delivery on my R1150 here in a couple weeks.
Ridden an 1150 and a 1200 found the 1200 better... better windscreen and wind protection... that said the 1200 is the best motorcycle I've ridden. and I think the 1150 wouldn't be far off.
My only gripe with these bikes is I hadn't discovered them sooner.
Honestly, you spending so much time talking about riding safely earned my sub.
"It feels like quality." I couldn't agree more. I have the same exact bike, same color, panniers ... I love it. Great video!
The throttle feels tight because it is a 4 cable system(and a nice nightmare to replace). One cable from throttle, one fast idle cable and one cable per side to the throttle bodies. They all meet at a job junction box below the battery tray which is under the gas tank and requires removal.
Rode the police version here in Australia for the AFP. Was a great bike. Like riding in a cocoon.
I once had a full faired and boxed Honda wing which cruised great and was bought for a tour, till I had to hit the brakes with a car pullout on gravel and found I couldn't get clear of all that crap and ended up with a foot jammed under it and a broken ankle from it, I've been on sportbikes ever since, at least I can bail out of those.
test
@@garystremel4366 it worked.
Walter Wilkins that’s the same way I feel about my K1200GT.

Warm the engine up before you push it to the limit, the R1150RT is forgiving but not with a cold engine
I bought one of these new back in 2004, sitting in the garage with only 3,300 miles on the clock, hasn't been on the road for 17 years 😊, still looks like new.
I love BMW’s. You want the perfect BMW? K1600GTL! Fast comfortable, stable, and just awesome

r100gs best in town bike. tight turns, light, good torque
I had that same bike and went to a r1200gs. It’s way more comfortable to me. Awesome touring bike. I did miss the power windscreen. It was awesome!!!!

Jeremiah 29:11 not Psalm 27:4. Appreciate you and your reviews and you especially sharing the gospel of truth!
To all the legends considering a BMW R1200RT... Do it! 🙏❤️🙌
With Michelin Pilot 4 tyres on my big FJR1300 it's really stable on wet roads. Have plenty of confidence in wet. Liked this BMW, would consider if I even sold FJR.
And I’ve heard the Michelin Road 6’s are even better
Can't go wrong with a used BMW. Maintenance history is important. My 94 K75S is in showroom condition. I have the Maintenance records from when it was new. Just tripped 37k. Had the splines lubed and a full service. Love it and will always be in my garage next to a K1300S when I find a clean one
Hi,
the R1150 RT is even now a day a great tourer, but has two big issues:
The first and most expensive one is the (integral) ABS with his brake booster (i dont know the correct english word for it).
Look at minute 4:50, that sounds like the clutchproblem to me but we couldn´t see the speedo, so no front. ;-)
Allways wanted this bike, but getting the R1150GS instead because only normal ABS there, guess why.
Regards from Gremany
Max
I love my 2014 R1200R.
Its the best bike by far in the mountains. Quality is great, never again nippon bikes!
Ive heard about this bike having reliability issues, well bmw's in general. Have you experienced anything of the sort?
Thanks for video been riding more years than I want to count has couple BMW biggest problem not much dealer Network
I have owned 2 BMW's and both gave me big issues one was a K bike and 1 an R, many more problems over the Yamaha or Victory I now ride.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve owned 2 RT’s (about 80k miles combined) and never did anything but routine maintenance to them.
Just picked up a used low miles 2000 R1100RT, now I can’t wait until spring. Praying for a mild winter.
Looking forward to a disappointing summer then lol.

Love your review my brother.

Shaky shaky side-to-side and weird torque off the shaft-drive makes left and right hand corners feel very different.
I hate these bikes lol
I had one boxer twin in my life...never again!
God bless you Srkcycles , speeding is not a sin , i got the same windshield on my ktm 1190

Aloha,
The K 1600 B is on my short list of,"Probably the last bike I get" as retirement age approaches. BUT, For as modern BMW's are in the price range they are in I have an issue with a bike that is aimed at the high mileage market that still has an engine that requires manual valve train maintenance, especially at BMW costs.
You keep on talking, even when you have nothing worth saying.
They are not light they are top heavy and very heavy if you get them of balance believe I know. They are not a race bike
Came for the Beemer, stayed for the psychedelic raindrop on GoPro video experience.
I own 4 of them and never sold the ones I bought. Plus on a BMW, I don't have to put a skull & crossbones on the bike as some do on other brands. What is that crap all about.
If there was ever a bike to do a review in that sort of weather... 🙏🙌

Love your vids but please.. Speed limits are posted for a reason.. Also Turn signals are there for a reason as well. Rant over , still enjoy the vids.
Must be a BMW thing , they don’t use turn signals lol
Gee thanks, now you tell me AFTER I've owned 7 of them...now look what I ride...
"I like to try everything...not eilluding to anything...I like women"😅 hummm. Me doth thinketh ye protest ye too much.
