ENJOY!
one of the best Santana concerts ive heard. must be a sound board recording. i never get tired of hearing stuff in a different year to see how Santana has taken it other places.
I also went to this Concert. I am now 70 years old and still love their Afro Cuban Rock. I still have the original ticket.
Wow! You are one of the few that refers to the rhythm being played by Santana by it's true origin, "Afro Cuban". Everyone else refers to it by calling it "Latin." It is Afro Cuban. rhythm fused with Rock.
Very nice .The term Afro Cuban is new to me.I also name it Latin rock. Whatever it is called ,it is very good and original music with this rich mix of several rhythms from Central America and North American rock music
I wished I was you! Hahaha
@@pauloacedo7461 With respect, it seems you still missed it! By Carlos Santana's own description, the rhythms are from AFRICA! Central and Latin American countries have similar rhythms to be sure, but it's because of the AFRICAN CULTURE and PEOPLE that resides there!
@@tajjohnson6980 Ok.Also with total respect. I am brazilian and we have Samba wich was created in Brazil by the black people brought from Africa during the slavery period . Samba is not african, it's brazilian despite its origin from african people. Carlos Santana explained it this way to tell the roots of his music and to make it easier to understand for people not familiar with it. He plays central america music wich was also created by black people from Africa and as well as samba you will not find this music in Africa . His music has african roots mixed with local culture from central america countries.
Aqui no BRASIL, tive a honra de assistir CARLOS SANTANA ao vivo no Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Um show inesquecível. Viva Santana, talento e criatividade.
At just the tender age of 23 years old..... Un friggin Real!
Carlos and Neal Schon are so great together. I wish they'd done more back then. At least we were blessed with the band reuniting in 2016. They are so compatible with each other, the harmonies on Jungle Strut are beautiful.
I cannot agree more!! ❤
Above all else, this is San Francisco Music. Period.
Don't think I've ever heard a live version of Ballin' before.
This is when Carlos Santana played the guitar creatively, with passion looking for new spaces to explore.
Oh, yeah? When did he stop doing that? When I saw him last summer he was STILL exploring new spaces.
Fantastic concert seen Carlos aleast 20 times from 69 till last summer in L A twice in Germany at Frankfurt at the Junderhalle
This is, without a doubt, the best Santana lineup!
The finest period for this group, in my humble opinion. It was totally unlike anything else and thoroughly inspirational.
your humble opinion IS SPOT ON !!!
Abraxas was great and Santana III was even better. Their peak IMHO.
Love Gregg Rolie's keyboard playing on Ballin' It's the best.
This music is today's classical music..along with few others...serious music for music's sake.
The one and only best ever always my favourite guitar king! Love your music
Love from Africa ❤❤❤🙏
I hear it as afro cuban rock as well. Whatever description is used, its moving music. Rhythm and melody at it's best!
Love and song to all!
Very superbe concert , because hammersmith is the rolls royce.
I was there I'm 63 far too young to have been there but it made an everlasting impression on my musical soul.
Best time of Music .."Seventies" because there was great Inspiration and Energy in the air !!
AND YOU COULD BE YOURSELF
Fuck the jaded Ness of today's musical KKRRAAPP
… and tons and tons of sheer talent everywhere you turned…
Best Santana´s line up ever.
It was my first of many Santana Concerts I have been too since 1971. I was then 21 years old and living in London. A concert I will never forget. The Odeon Hammersmith a smaller venue for around 3000 people was on fire! Great soundboard recording brings back all the memories of a great evening.
I was in Leeds when they came in the 1976, if my memory is still good. I got to know they made a UK tour that year.
Cool - Santana Great - did you see the Sammy Hagar Band there too :)
I got to see abraxsis at L.A. Forum, Yes you had to see and hear live what one experience can have, thx . to all of the musicians, memories thx.thx.
I was only 14 when this album happened. Didn't see them until later.
So glad you made it!
First saw band live in October 1971 at MSG in NYC. Seen Carlos and various lineups some 35 times since then. Never a disappointing show. Santana live is music magic. Unlike any other band I've had the good fortune to capture live. Santana's music and sound simply transcend all the boundaries of mind, spirit and soul. Timeless.
A London-based Brit here, now aged 66. I wasn't at this concert but saw them the previous year at the 2-day forerunner to Glastonbury at Shepton Mallett 1970. First indoor concert was at the Rainbow on 15/11/73: my brother and I still rate that show as the best of ANY concert we have seen. Santana now - I lost count at 36 the number of times I have seen them live - is now a shadow of the great line-up then BUT still streets ahead of any other bands. For me: the band lost its soul when Chepito left, so sad but understandable in the circs, especially with the troubles he had later. Suggest anyone who loves THIS line-up to check out Abraxas Pool, which is pretty much this group minus Carlos, totally brilliant
I have checked out Abraxas Pool and don't think they are as good as the Santana III band or other Santana line-up. Imho, the source and essence of the Santana sound is Carlos so without him it will always be nothing but a pastiche.
Abraxas Pool definitely had its moments, they should have released a 2nd version follow up.
@@jazzatnight DEFINITELY agree, friend!!!
I think, i'm in heaven, what a concert!!! Fantastic!!!!!!!
Man is this hitting the spot today.
Wow, I've said it before and I'll say it once more, ,Bravo !!!
Grande Santana !!!
I thought Santana was the first to call World Music, with Latin, African and Caribbean music blended with rock and jazz.
What was categorized as "Latin Jazz" preceded the Santana Band. However we know all the musicians in the band had their ears & minds open.
This performance was when Santana WAS Santana they were absolutely on fire no special guests just the original band with Neal Schon, the best incarnation of the Santana band
Coke Escovado was not an original member
this is the one and only one SANTANA BAND....f**k the rest....
Takeo Kimura yes this is true
He's not that SAME Santana because he has evolved. If he was still playing the same old $hit then people would complain about that! Go figure...... 🥴
You got that right
One of the best ever,if not the best, edition of SANTANA.....
I Love these Latin tropical rock jazz mixed music,
along with those beautiful caribbean musical rhythms.

Interesting to compare the material of Santana and Allman Brothers Band from same period. Almost like different spin of same vibe....Latin influence R a n d B vs. Southern Blues Rock / Jazz...?
Awesome u have the ticket! I have saved many of the Santana tickets as well. Plus others.
Such great memories!
London is always ready and open for African roots, look at the Rolling Stones Blues, The beatles playing Chuck Berry, Santana is Universal, Astecs, American, Anglo Sakson, African!!! Speaks!!
Jamican also. London was open to Reggae well before anyone else..
i was there
One of the truly great 👍 tremendous guitarist of all time for 5 decades he has given us the opportunity to witness his sheer greatness long live Carlos santana by the way Carlos and Eric Clapton at the forum in 1977 classic performance 🎭
When my eyes read your "5 decades" comment - I had to stop and think....gotta give the man ton's of credit for bringing it to the people for so long.
The tour that was done off of the Santana III album was their best run of shows in my opinion. The interplay between Carlos and the entire band was simply amazing!!!
man this great...the best line up before breaking up. Neal Schon is in this.
I love Santana's instrumental pieces. Perfect for work, very calming and energizing at the same time!
Inspirational incomparable the very best sounds and vibrations ever
Absolutely
The best Latin rock music ever played in this planet
For this tour Chepito, still recovering from a brain hemorrhage, was replaced by Coke Escovedo.
Me recuerda cuando vino a Nicaragua en1973
So incredible.
Neal Schon brings a white hot 🔥 fire, to Carlos' Latin fire and melody.
Then you add the bass, amazing percussion, and Gregg Rolie's voice and organ.
Just the best!
Thanks for the music 🎶
It sounds like they have been quite stoned. But anyway I like this nice and authentic concert!
Despite difference of opinion among the band members in 1971...there was no let-up on stage every night....the band was smoking as well as Carlos & Schon were firing it right up....
Very good album.
Starts with a blasting guitar - Batuka and ends with 2 POWERFUL ones in Jingo....Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!
All the good tunes from the Santana 3 album . !
Weren't they all good! /:-)
Don't know how many more concerts they had before the break up in 72. Once they started working on Caravanserai that was it. That was the beginning of the split from what I understand. Too bad. This was an awesome band
What a great concert recording from a band at their peak. I really love hearing Carlos and Neil playing off each other. Just masterful playing from the whole band, incredible. Greatest version of this band that I've heard. It makes me wonder why there wasn't a official live recording made of this band. It took 47years for this to appear, dam. I don't hear any flaws yet. Great soundboard recording. Thank you for posting this , so nice of you.
Yes!
I so agree Daniel, this is a special recording because it clearly captures what I consider to be the best version of the Santana band during a live concert performance. Neal Schon is still my favorite guitar player of life nearly half a century later. I just finished listening to Santana 8/18/70 at Tanglewood and really wanted to follow that up with the 1971 Santana III lineup live. So I just kept scrolling untill I got here. Thank you, ALGERIEN GAY for this wonderful upload! Cheers, Mick Flaire, a 65 year old San Francisco native.
I'll be 65 on 1-8-2021,this sound so very penetrating, an vibe will last
Cali Native, thx......
This was approx. six months after Santana 3 was released. They really do a rather different version of Batuka, but Jungle Strut is a lot like the record. Thanks for posting!
Santana III was released September 1971 so this concert was about four months before
@@bunger407Thanks for info.
Thank you for posting this wonderful concert ! A real pleasure for the fans of Santana
24:44 One my favorite parts of this song
I was there it was a magnificent condert
concert ;-)
I also were there my first live band. I was 14 and blown away the experience has never left me.
This is when Santana WAS Santana
I support him in every effort he makes. His top 40 run was epic too (yes, I prefer the early 70s) but if he didn't make superstar money the last 20 years, that would be less money pumped into Milagro foundation. The man is a God and I love EVERY SINGLE THING HE DOES. Carlos, if you ever read this, you are like Gandi, like Malala, like Greta Thunberg, like MLK.... people like you are why this world is great and will always have hope in the face of considerable darkness. Can you work on making Conservatives spontaneously combust? I know, you wouldn't, lol
What a dumb comment!
@@rink64 people are just never satisfied.....
Si Señor " Like that Shit '
Todavia ! Lui Lui 9/27/51 City of Angel's.
Great Concert , Thanks...!
Santana allway is Santana. Chepito Area, musician from Nicaragua.
Si amigo Nicaragua!!!!!!!!
you got that right!
Unfortunately he wasn't on this tour or at this concert.
Saw Santana twice in the 80s
"JOURNEY'S INCUBATION PERIOD"
Journey??!!?? the light weight dickless band....your efing kidding, right???
@@lawrencekeller1743 I think the original poster is referring to the fact that Neil Schon and Greg Rollie would leave Santana and later form the band Journey
@@lawrencekeller1743 The Steve Perry led era yes, the 1st 3 LP's no. The connection on the 1st Journey LP to the Santana band roots is quite clear.
Joseph "Coke" Escovedo 4/30/41. Would have been 79 today.. R.I.P.
Excelent music.
This gig was a couple of months after the band took part in the Soul To Soul Concert in Accra, Ghana, West Africa alongside Wilson Pickett, Ike & Tina Turner, Roberta Flack, the Voices of East Harlem, Willie Bobo, and the Staple Singers which I attended on 6th March 1971. Imho, I think the band was on fire musically but they didn't look happy or together on stage.
Hi brother que bueno que me dejaste muchos cds repuse unos que tenia de vinil cuidate mucho. En tus presentaciones por el pais abrazo fuerte
Y2 besito. Ciaò. Ciaò

The old man used to be good.
this is the one and only one SANTANA BAND....f**k the rest....
