    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot use quick screw wall anchors in plaster. You have to use plastic plug anchors. They are for plaster and brick. They can go close together. Plug anchors can hold quite a bit of weight. If you are putting alot of weight on the shelves use a larger anchor. Hope that helps!

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, I don't really know how to answer you because I don't know if you are drilling in plaster or drywall and without seeing how the tip is stuck. You might could leave the tip and patch the hole and drill in a new spot. If you are drilling in plaster you'll need a plug anchor not an easy anchor like I used in the video.

      @@ShowMeConstruction No problem. I was drilling into drywall. I used a screw driver to tap the broken piece of anchor through. I was then able to insert a new self-drilling anchor. Thank you!

    so part of the screw is in the drywall plastic anchor and part goes through the wood coat rack. how long were these screws? i see drywall screws that are much shorter and it makes me think it might go through the wood but then the screw would be too short to also lock into the plastic anchor. thanks

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might have plaster walls. In that case, you need a bit for concrete and a push-in anchor not screw. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching.

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's very hard to do that with a screwdriver. A screw gun is the best.

  • @KidsandKittens217
    @KidsandKittens217 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 3:32 you say "I like to just take the tip and just pre" What is it you are taking the tip of? I've never put in wall anchors before and I can't figure out how to get them in the tiny hole I drilled with a drill bit, So what is it you take the "tip" of to make the hole as big as you do?
    And how far deep should you make that wide of a hole? I'm only mounting a small 4-peg coat rack with 4 holes for screws on the front. It only requires small screws and small anchors but the anchors are still too big for the holes. I'm drilling into drywall.

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was talking about the tip of the screw gun. You can buy smaller anchors if you think you need a different size.

    Such a helpful video!! Would this work alright for a slightly heavy, wood coat hanger that has a shelf on top?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For your application, going into a stud would be better, but i know its not always possible. In that case its better to install a wood backer behind the bracket, (approx 3" wide x 9" tall and 1/2" thick.) then mount your bracket on that.
      Hope that advise helps, thanks for watching.

      Are you drilling into dry wall? If you are drilling into a tape joint sometimes that mud can become so hard it's very difficult for anchors to go through without breaking.

    • @ShowMeConstruction

  • @PradeepKanthan

    These anchors tend to rotate with the screw. Happens on some walls and not on some others! How do you prevent them?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you over tighten the anchors in the drywall they will spin out when you put the screw in. Meaning that the anchor needs to be flush with the drywall and not sunk in past the surface. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching. Please let me know if you have more questions.

  • @dovie2blue

    What size is your drill bit here?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are easy anchors rated 75 lbs. and they have the drill tip on them. So you don't need to pre-drill a hole. I used the tip of my Phillips bit to start a hole so my anchor would not walk when I screwed it in. Thanks for watching!

    I'm trying to hang my new blinds, but the screws will not go all the way in the window casing, and falls out. I tried using the EZ Anchors and that will not go all the way through and fell out. Now I'm stuck with big holes in the wall and white dust everywhere. What's happening, and what can I do to fix this issue?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry, it's hard to say since I'm not there to see it. You might be hitting wood after the drywall. Are you putting enough strength into the screw gun to push it through. You might could try longer screws. You don't need anchors if you're hitting something past the drywall. You also might be hitting a metal plate.
