      Question. Is DA410 gonna work with this suppressor as a direct fixed barrel mount on beretta M9 in 22lr. The thread pitch is 1/2×28.This way, you wouldn't need the piston or spacer.

    I enjoyed your Sierra 5 review/overview enough to sub and come back for some older vids, then watched this one and finally learned the perfect way to describe what a piston does on tilt-barrel guns: it temporarily detaches the can from the gun so it can cycle through all the extra weight (or words to that effect).
    Then you pulled out Griffin Cam-LOK and I was all 🤯🤯🤯 as I’ve been systemizing my P320 collection on Cam-LOK, first my twin SiCo Osprey 45s and now a Wolfman and a Bushwhacker.

    You said it's better than some and worse than others...what do you recommend for a 45 FNX Tactical specifically for home defense? Never carried. Only taken out at bedtime and returned in the morning? Do you have a best rec?

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The quietest option in my opinion is the Dead Air Primal. They thing works super well on my 45 1911.
      The SilencerCo Omega 45k is pretty close to the performance of the Ghost and is a solid choice.
      The Ghost itself is pretty light weight and does a good job at cutting the noise down even in the short configuration.
      So it’s hard to pick one perfect can. It would be a toss between the Ghost and Omega 45K for me. The Primal is a clear winner in the sound department but it’s longer, thicker, and heavier 🤷‍♂️

    How would you compare this to your Odessa? I know they are two different bore diameters, but knowing what you know now would you still buy both, or rather have one over the other? Btw, I look forward to your Saturday posts hoping they will be about silencers. They are definitely an addiction!!

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! First off, I’m glad you are enjoying the channel(not just saying that).
      So like you mentioned, those are two very different cans. I would say the Odessa makes for a very nice 9mm only, dedicated can. I could see it as a good option for a “bedside gun” option when you run it at about half length and just want to take the edge off. Also if you wanted to to conceal the can or even carry it in a pocket then the Odessa would be a great option.
      The Ghost is gonna sound better in general. And, given it’s size and mounting options, the Ghost will be suitable for quite a few more calibers than the Odessa.
      To answer your question though, yes. I would still buy both. I’m also an addict, so it doesn’t take much for me to want another can. If I had to only have one then it’d be the Ghost. I’ll simply get more use out of the Ghost over the Odessa.

    • @trendy_d2103

    So if you don't have a 45, but you do have suppressor height sights, would you still recommend the Ghost over the Wolfman or the Odessa? Also considering the Obsidians and CGS Mod9 FS for a FN509t. It sounds like both the Ghost and Mod9 use aluminum baffles on the front to help with balance, cost, etc.

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have the Mod9 FS but I do have the SK and it sounds good for it’s size. The Wolfman is going to sound better than the Ghost in 9mm and depending on your suppressor height sights, you could still use them with the Wolfman. The Odessa is a good can if you want to take the edge off and how have any sight obstruction at all.

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glocks are pretty easy to suppress. I’ve used inexpensive AIM Surplus threaded barrels with no problems. I have played with different recoil springs but in general the OEM spring has worked. You can go direct thread so you’ll need a 1/2x28 piston. If you want to step up that game then I’d go Griffin Armament Ez-Lok.

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think the Ghost has that ability. You could always run it with a wipe 🤔 That would squeeze out the most sound reduction but your accuracy would suffer.

  • @ied0135
    @ied0135 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've bought one and am awaiting approval. Main host is going to be a 9mm Scorpion. So I need to get a 1/2x28 piston to go in the included boost assembly? Is getting a 9mm end cap needed?

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get the 1/2x28 piston then you’ll need a fixed barrel spacer if you run it on the Scorpion. If it was me I’d just get a Tri-lug. Much simpler to attach and take off. You would get some benefit from a 9mm front cap.

    • @ied0135
      @ied0135 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! What's the barrel spacer for? It get's too close to the handguard otherwise and won't screw on all the way? I have a DA Nomad with keymo for multiple AR's so having QD is great, I just know this one will be 90% on my Scorp. I did want to put it on some hand guns every now and then as well as getting a Vector soon so I figured direct thread would be best?

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ied0135 direct thread is probably the cheapest and simplistic rout in that case. The fixed barrel spacer replaces the spring in your booster assembly. It allows the piston and booster assembly to be used as a direct thread.

    • @ied0135
      @ied0135 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, I just looked the spacer up and get it now. Really appreciate the reply's man. I JUST talked to a DA rep at a LGS a few weeks ago to inquire what I needed and he didn't say anything about the piston or spacer so I'm really glad I watched your vid and asked. Learning the Nomad, muzzle devices for each host, and keymo was so much easier than this can lol, but I get why. It's this way to give you options for your wants/needs.

      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, glad you liked the video 👍
      I believe Griffin Armament advises against using the CamLok with rifle cartridges. You’d need to use a fixed barrel spacer anyway if you used your piston system for 300BLK. It’s probably be easier, safer and cheaper to just get the standard 3 lug mount.

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the Banshee is a fixed barrel, right 🤔 If it is then it’s gonna need to have some kind of solid mount and not a normal pistol booster. Either a fixed barrel spacer or a completely different mount(direct thread, KeyMicro, 3-lug…)

    Been hearing some people talking about how some (if not all) Dead Air cans are made from "Chinese pot metal" and I'm not sure if that's just some dorks on the internet talking out their asses or not since I don't own any suppressors, I can't say. What's your take on it?

    • @CalebDowning
      @CalebDowning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had one suppressor show up that was slightly bent. It looked like it shifted when welded. DA took care of it pretty quickly. Other than that I haven’t had any problems with the make or function of any of their cans. I think there are some fiercely loyal folks out there when it comes to suppressor/firearm companies. That tends to Lear to exaggerations and and mud throwing.
