    I don't want a sequel to this movie, I want a PREQUEL to this movie. There's clearly a whole backstory of how Nicamund the Red becomes Santa Claus that I need to know about.
    Also, rumor has it that they're considering Charlize Theron as Mrs. Claus.

    • @thomaswilliamson298

      Well, I think Charlize Theron is immortal, so that would be good casting.

    Best Christmas movie ever!! In all seriousness, while the violence is done amazingly well and with a lot of creativity, it also does a terrific job of doing fun callbacks to nearly every great Xmas movie, plus it has real heart and Christmas message about belief.

    I didn’t have high expectations for this movie when it came out, so I skipped it in theaters, and waited until it came out on Amazon Prime. After watching it, I definitely kicked myself for not seeing it sooner. An absolute masterpiece of a movie. David Harbour does such an amazing job as Santa.

    Christmas is full of pagan lore that no one really ever seems to remember. My boyfriend told me about this, despite how i wasn't expecting it, since, well i never do. Seeing Santa talk about his past life, about who he was, seeing the pagan tattoos, it took me so off-guard i started crying, and couldnt stop until the end of the movie. It really touched me in ways i wasnt expecting

      it's not so much Pagan Lore persay as it is Norse Pagan Lore....on his left chest plate is Norse Runework and Vegvisir(Known as the Viking Compass) as well as Norse Knotwork.. which while similar to Celtic knotwork does have differences..

    • @johnjones_1501

      What I like about this version of Santa, is that it is clearly not the Catholic St. Nicholas. I think having a Santa with a Pagan origin is better for both Catholics and non-Catholics, because the character is a lot more fun when you divorce him from his Saintly Origins, but also gives room for the Catholics and various Orthodox Churches to have a separate, more traditional, version of their Saint. The original St. Nick, if he was a real person, has a colorful history that deserves to be told and remembered separate from our modern Santa Claus, like when he punched a guy at the Council of Nicaea.

    • @pmpowalisz
      @pmpowalisz ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually possible Santa was a Christian Viking warrior instead of a pagan one, since there were Christian Vikings (who didn’t raid monasteries).

    • @johnjones_1501
      @johnjones_1501 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pmpowalisz Well no, because St. Nick, who is the Christian Saint that was made into Santa Claus, lived a couple centuries before Vikings, and several centuries before Christian Vikings, who came along much later in the Viking history. Now the real St. Nick is a historical figure, who was made a saint for punching a guy at the Council Of Nicaea, but we don't know a whole lot about his actual life and history, but there is room in the spaces that we don't know to argue he was a Goth or a Visagoth, who again were the guys who burned Rome. Some of the Goths later converted to Christianity, as part of a peace treaty, and power sharing arrangement with the Romans, so that would be the best way to make it fit.
      Though it is just a movie, and Santa is a fictional character, and this is like auguring what planet Superman is from

    The Kill Squad extermination while Bryan Adams playing in the background was just pure cinematic genius, and not surprising being it was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba as Bryan Adams is Canadian. Perhaps more of Nikuman's progressive story will be revealed in Violent Night 2 when it gets released. Great review!!

    Basically Santa was a Viking. Nordic warrior which actually makes sense seeing as the legend of Santa comes from those regions. Women usually were the only ones trusted with magic as magic seemed to be more a feminine thing to the Norse. They were sacred. So I think ms claus is a witch of sorts that changed nicomunds heart and used magic to enchant him to become Santa. My fan theory anyway on how the Christmas magic works.

    • @movienightwithjacqui
      @movienightwithjacqui  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      By those stories, Santa was woden, and mrs clause is frig or freya. Freya was a vanir goddess as woden was a aesir god. Aesir as in asgard didn't care for magic but the vangard goddesses used it more. And woden and freya married to combine the relms even though the 2 relms didn't get along. Although, the hammer is more of a thor thing as a spear was more of wodens thing. But theu both had chariots like that.

    • @johnjones_1501

      I think more likely, given the age of the St. Nick stories, and them taking place in Turkey, he was a Goth or Visigoth, who were the raiders who destroyed Rome.

    4:44 so this is what happened to Ellen Griswold after Clark finally kicked the bucket doing one of his dumb things and she made out like a bandit. 21:36 I gotta remember that insult when dealing with people at work. 23:46 loved how the mom said “Jean-Claude Von Dipsh__” 27:22 Their choice of music for all the fight scenes are amazing. The candy cane went in the cheek instead of the eye. 29:40 he meant the bottle that her gave her with the note. 31:55 to be fair she more than likely thought it would be like the movie where they would all be ok. 32:46 I think of all the bad guys Krampus is my favorite in this movie. Love his mannerisms. I like how after all these years Santa still doesn’t know how Christmas magic works. Joel Kinnaman has a Christmas movie coming out this year called “Silent Night” that’s about a dad seeking revenge. Haven’t seen trailer’s yet but it sounds good.

    Eeeehrr! Sorry, Hans. Wrong guess. Would you like to go for double jeopardy where the scores can really change?
    A Christmas Story was talking about BB Guns.
    But in Die Hard 2, John kills a terrorist with an icicle in the eye.
    I mean, if you're going to call out Die Hard references throughout the movie, then stabbing bad guys with an icicle goes to Die Harder, not to A Christmas Story.
    That said, Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4) has John McClane blowing up bad guys by shooting a fire extinguisher, just like in this movie at 20:51 - this probably deserved a Die Hard callout too.

    Pitching this movie went something like this: "So imagine if Santa had to do a Die Hard to save Christmas." Then there were people clapping and cheering and people fainting at the size of the check that was immediately cut for the dude 12 seconds after that sentence left his mouth

    i loved john leguizamo in this movie. but the fact that 95% of the family were extreamly unsympathetic, makes you not care who he shoots. the viking twist they gave santa was genius.

    Anyone else want Santa to proclaim “it’s garbage day!” Before killing any of his kills? Just once but should have happened! Silent night deadly night 2. One of the best hammiest scenes in movie one liner scenes.

    Like many, I kinda shrugged and didn't think about it when it was in theaters, only to love it when I finally saw it. My only complaint has to be that, well, Santa is real here. So, when the dumb-as-a-pile-of-rocks (and missing a few MORE rocks) boyfriend believes in Santa... there's really no reason for him not to. He's probably a decent (if dim) fellow, and gets a little something in his stocking or under his tree every year, keeping him believing. Children get gifts their parents didn't put under the tree (and both parents might assume the other got it), but eventually some wife is going to get a dress, or jewelry... and Santa may have been responsible for a lot of messy divorces.

    @MovieNightWithJacqui you have a new subscriber and I have to say, the Christmas Star tree topper to the eye didn’t really bother me but, you must have a thing about eye damage in movies which, if that’s the case, I completely understand, as I have a thing about throat rips in hard R films when they are really graphically displayed so, yeah we all have our differences.

      Yeah, I think I kind of figured that out almost immediately when you turned away the minute that Christmas Star stabbed the guys eye came on, I think the one when I saw it in theaters with my buddy Jacob that completely shocked us both in a good way, not in a disgusted way, more of a “Holy Shit! They just went there!” Type of way, was the snowblower kill in the shed.

    3:35 "Home Alone is a classic Christmas movie."
    This movie is just like Home Alone.
    Both movies have a violent psychopath who spends the whole movie inflicting gratuitous violence and clearly enjoying it.
    Yeah, I'm talking about Scrooge (John Leguizamo) and Kevin (MaCaulay Culkin).

    Yea, the traps are out of Home Alone. The director wanted to show how violent and deadly those traps would be. A the innocence of children.
