  • I have been using the Racktime Addit Rear Rack for 10 years on my 2012 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc, which is fairly heavily modified for long distance and all road touring. The Vaude Aqua Back Plus and Silkroad L trunk bag are fairly recent addition, having been purchased in Oldenburg, Germany in September of 2017, while touring the German North Sea Coast area. This video was shot in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where I am currently working on a photography & publishing project.

    Hi, just seen your video, would you suggest this rack instead of the tubus Logo?

      Tubus and Racktime are of course the same company, with Racktime being aluminum and having the Racktime mounting system. Since my bike is aluminum (except for the rigid front fork from Salsa) I decided to get the best aluminum rack I could find, which was the Racktime Addit rack, the mounting system was a bonus which I have been using ever since with first a Racktime trunk and now a Vaude Silk Road trunk. I was of course warned about using aluminum but have had no problems in 8 years of constant use. If you have a steel frame I would say stay with Tubus. Both are excellent.

    Looks good. I also use tape at contact points for the panniers. Silence is golden for sure!

      I expect to visit Oldenburg again within a year or two. If possible I would like to stay in the Oldenburg area for a while.

    You do not show how it comes off and on. It would be most helpful to see how the bags mount into the racks, especially the pannier, as even the company website does not show how those work. Thanks for the videos.

      Good idea, I will make a short video to show how that works. Thank you for the suggestion.

    I think the bag on top cover you lights

    • @GeorgeLienemann
      @GeorgeLienemann  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comment. There are two lights (sometimes three) at the rear of the bike. The light that is attached to the seat post is usually set to blinking and can only be clearly seen from the back if I am not using the bag (you are correct), when blinking it can be seen from the sides though. At the rear of the rack there is another light (Busch and Mueller Flat S) (it is actually the main rear light) that can be seen from the back and is designed to work well from close up and quite a distance. There is also a small blinking light attached to the rear bag (but I rarely use it). Maybe I should do a short video of how these lights work at night. I should also mention that I rarely ride my bicycle at night, if I was a night-rider I would attach more lights.

    How is maximum load for this racktime?

    • @GeorgeLienemann
      @GeorgeLienemann  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t say that I have tested it to see how much it will take but I am surprised that it has lasted for almost 8 years with no problem at all. If you are worried you should probably buy Tubus instead. Tubus and Racktime are the same company but Tubus is steel.
