What a fucking BANGER of a first boss theme holy shit, this does a great job to introduce boss fights into the game I'd almost say too well. I think this was the best Headspace boss by far.
They really encapsulated what it feels like to be Lucid Dreaming and creating an imaginary world that’s so much cooler and fantastical than reality in this song.
idk why but there's this euphoric, melancholic and very mystic feel to this track despite the fact that it's basically a rave and I absolutely love it.
This is the perfect theme to conclude the otherworld arc, it’s very climatic, it’s such a nice remix of the theme you’ve been listening to in the last hour in the junkyard, and it’s a fricken BANGER
Sunny fighting the icons of his childhood in his dreams reflects the end of his childhood. His childhood is also used as a barrier to retreat to the times before Mari's death. SPOILERS FROM HERE With that in mind, it's no wonder that you can only acess Black Space and the truth about Mari after defeating all the lighthearted bosses. Omori essentially destroys Sunny's childhood from within.
Not quite...You later get to refight SBF and then the Sweetheart clones in the Hikikomori route, and Humphrey is revived as well. Omori's goal isn't to destroy Sunny's childhood innocence, it's to preserve it. The game implies that Sunny experiences a cycle of "Headspace Basil rediscovers the truth, Omori continues to cover it up, Sunny struggles to face the truth, his mind resets to dissociate and protect his fragile mental health." Black Space is still accessible in the Hikikomori route, but where Sunny chooses to save Basil in the True Route, he abandons Basil and gives in to Omori to protect his fake utopia.
Yes. I was wrong. I didn't prepare for this fight at all. I somehow forgot to and didn't save or buy anything. And then I was thrown into this boss fight thinking that it would happen later (Most of the boss fights were spoiled for me at this point, just didn't know when they're going to show up). Went in with most of my party damaged to varying degrees. Actually attempted to run. Couldn't. Almost beat him without losing anyone, but before I knew it we were dropping like flies in the final phase (was he supposed to start one shoting everyone at that point?). Thought I could mock him but it did less damage than in his other phases. In other words... This was scary enough for me on its own. 10/10 would fight again.
This is probably my favorite track of the game. This made the Space Boyfriend boss fight so great! Also I made a piano arrangement of the track, if anyone is interested it's in my channel
Probably the best fight of the game in my opinion. Challenging, first hyped up boss fight with a banger track, making you entire party deliriously happy as this lad can't even touch you.
I think I hear the short, higher synth playing in the background throughout playing variants of the melody at the start of Three Bar Logos? That's not just me hearing things, right?
You know when you’re working out, and then some song or part of a song comes up and it gives you this adrenaline rush that makes you feel unstoppable and suddenly you’re running 30mph with no resistance whatsoever? That’s 0:40
This has become my favorite battle theme in the game. All of them are catchy, and I love World's End Valentine as well. This one just has instruments and a melody that I like more.
I've already discussed the meaning behind this title under You Cannot Go Back, but I don't want to spoil it here, so check out my comment on that video if you want to know. Instead I'm going to just gush over this song. Jami Lynne did not have to go this hard for the first boss theme of the game, and yet they _so_ did. Easily my second favorite song in the game, next to World's End Valentine. The song's melody is actually pretty slow if you focus on it, but the harmonizing the sheer amount of part in the background supporting it and filling out the song, all while the percussion beats harshly, creating this awesome feeling of a slow paced song depicting an action packed battle that overwhelms you, which is really perfect from the gameplay standpoint of facing the first easy boss without really knowing what to do. As for the motifs, mwah, beautiful. This song is jampacked full of them. Starting off with Three Bar Logos in this menacing minor, along with the other Otherworld leitmotifs, and the way it adds in Spaceboy's mixtape for this major shift really depicting the intensity of his feelings. All of it flows perfectly in this smooth way that I've rarely even seen from even Toby Fox, the motif man himself. I can feel the stakes behind this battle from just the music alone and that's beautiful. Good on you Captain Spaceboy.
Getting the coffee from the TV girl (after getting the junkyard parts) and using it on Kel while he is estatic, then using Run and Gun allowed me to skip the entire last phase of the fight. I was amazed by this, it did over 400 damage.
Sunny may have taken some inspiration from Hero’s bad traits, when thinking about Space Ex Boyfriend’s personality. The way he grieves over Sweetheart breaking up with him, is similar to how Kel described Hero after…the incident. Perhaps Sunny saw Hero in that state, shortly before he became a hikikomori.
