Just making some timestamps for myself. 6:47:18 113th game of the match breaking the previous record of 112 back in 1969 6:56:45 longest rally of the match to date (17 shots) - amazed the players didn’t fall asleep during it. Regardless the record now stands for John Isner. 7:42:42 - after hitting an attempted passing shot into the net, Mahut swings his racquet in frustration at the net. The Chair umpire needs to get up to fix the let detector which has been loosened after the ball hit it. The score at this point is 41-41 8:05:47 - bookmark for me to continue from 44-44 final set
No words can describe what went down on court 18 these three days! It stands out as one of the most extreme events ever in sporting history. I was completely mesmerized following the match and felt so much for Mahut when he lost. I loved the celebrations after the match. If there ever was a moment for an extra recognition after a sporting event, this was it! Unforgettable!
It is so meticulous that these seems real. In actuaity, they are still playing!!! Wimbledon 2010 still running in 2022?? Both tied at 428146 games apiece in 5th set.
There's been NFL games that went to double overtime There's been NHL games that went to 5 overtimes There's been MLB games that went to 20 innings This Wimbledon match is the craziest one
70-68: a score of a NBA match, that finished in January, 1st, 2020. Hahaha! It was an amazing match of tennis ever. John Isner and Nicolas Mahut: two ironmen of this sport.
Well, it's taken 10 years for this match to get a full upload. It's just the sheer length that's far too much for most people, and I imagine some, not all, would probably begin viewing at the beginning of the fifth set. The match's historical aspect is completely untouchable, it was f.....g extraordinary.
Exactly 10 years ago this match was in it's 2nd day of being played. By far the craziest thing I have ever seen in sport. Both will always be winners to me.
Watched the whole match. It’s crazy to see how exhausted Isner became that second day and still kept the aces coming! He could barely move he was so exhausted. And Mahut just looked like it was a regular fifth set! Amazing.
I attended this game because I heard it is 8 hours(the longest match) and I still have 2 hours at least to travel, I thought I just make it through the ceremony but yet the match isn't yet over these two players are legendss
Pretty cool for the spectators, they knew they were living a moment of history. The 2nd longest lasted 4 and a half less hours, which is an HUUUUGE difference. And with the new rules in all 4 Slams to avoid too long matches, now the longest will never beat 5-6 hours, so, half this 1 that'll last for eternity.
@@nooony5553 It anyway would've been a waaaaaaaay shorter match, cause now there's the rule of the super tie-break in the 5th set, so, the match would've finished maximum at 7-6 in the 5th. No possible comparison with a match that ended 70-68 in the 5th, far far far away. So, the 11 hours of match will never agan b approached, by far not. In the future, the matches won't last more than 5-6 hours. So, even if after 3 hours Nadal and Zverev didn't even conclude the 2nd set, the match woul'dve been finished probably in max 6 hours, just a bit more than half as long as Isner/Mahut's battle.
@@b.willisfederer8720 zverev nadal at the pace they were going couldve gotten close to 8 hours. Obviously still a lot less than this one but quite a bit over your 5-6 hours ;)
10 years ago today... how incredible it is that it's been that long. Honestly, I'd prefer to be Mahut in this scenario. I'd rather go home and rest than show up the next day to be absolutely obliterated by my next opponent. (Isner was destroyed in his next match, of course.)
It took Serena Williams a combined total of 9 hours 55 minutes to win all her seven matches on the way to winning Wimbledon 2010. At the end of her victory over Vera Zvonareva in the final, both John Isner and Nicholas Mahut were still doing battle in the 5th set of their 1st round match at 59 all !!
As incredible as this score is, it was right to bring in a tiebreak, because whoever won this match was never gone with the second round. Isner got smashed
The new rule is very appropriate, but the final should never be subject to the new tiebreaker rule. The 2019 Fed/Djokovic final should have gone until someone went up two games. That's a hell of a way to end a tournament. RIP Fed.
@@JesusChrist-qi8yo Oh my God, Jesus. Luck for me because it could be that Isner blinked on 9537 occasions: I'm not sure if the blink 182 after 8 minutes can be considered as a proper blink.
@@fforfreedom8893 Yes, from this year all the grand slams now play a tie-break (first to 10 points) at 6-6 in the final set. They said it'll be a trial, but I can't imagine they'll go back. Shame really :( Wimbledon had a tie-break at 12-12 for a while, which was a nice compromise.
As a big server myself having to play that long under that much pressure on serve is just incredible. Fun fact Mahut has the 2nd highest ever aces in a match thanks to this one.
Oh man I never thought they would post this match. Only knew about it through news and some videos with fragments of the match. So, we are not having Wimbledon, but this match can take the place of all the hours we would be in front of TV watching the tournament this year.
Do not overrate it please! It's nothing but one servebot outserving another with net raids in-between by both! In terms of quality it isn't that much better than your regular serbot centric match finishing on 4 tie-breaks out of 5 with only one break in the end to close the match at 6-4...the longevity is another story...but if we were to rate tennis matches places in history based on longevity alone we would come up with some of the most ridiculous list possible...so once again - let's not exaggerate! It should always be quality first, not quantity...
If the match ends up being super long ON TOP of being entertaining - now that's quite an impressive achievement! i'd rather rewatch all the extra long Fedalovic battles from 2012 AO final to 2019 Wimbledon final on repeat, than rewatching this serve fest...

6:47:18 113th game of the match breaking the previous record of 112 back in 1969
6:56:45 longest rally of the match to date (17 shots) - amazed the players didn’t fall asleep during it. Even the crowd was laughing at how long it was.
7:03:40 - John Isner sends down his 78th or 79th ace of the match (apparently some discrepancy with the ace count according to news sources online) this is the equal record number of aces with Ivo Karlovic (78) in a 2009 Davis Cup match (which bizarrely Karlovic lost)
7:13:54 - Ace number 79 or 80. Regardless the record now stands for John Isner.
7:42:42 - after hitting an attempted passing shot into the net, Mahut swings his racquet in frustration at the net. The Chair umpire needs to get up to fix the let detector which has been loosened after the ball hit it. The score at this point is 41-41

11:13:47 Only 6 minutes after match end Mahut recognizes he still has a ball in his pocket... what a match it was!!
Haha, i was looking for that comment
Can we just have a moment to appreciate the mental recovery from Mahut.
Legend has it that both players were replaced by clones so that the tournament could go on.
The real Isner and Mahut are still playing the match.
It is so meticulous that these seems real. In actuaity, they are still playing!!! Wimbledon 2010 still running in 2022?? Both tied at 428146 games apiece in 5th set.

Final set alone was longer than the 2nd longest match.
There's been NFL games that went to double overtime
There's been NHL games that went to 5 overtimes
There's been MLB games that went to 20 innings
This Wimbledon match is the craziest one
And what about Nba?
@@mladennikolov6860 I hardly watch NBA games so I don't know.
@@mladennikolov6860 there's been NBA games that went to 6 overtimes
exactly….😊
Imagine being at 34 all in the fifth and the final set is not even half over! Not even factoring in the SECOND overnight suspension due to darkness.
70-68: a score of a NBA match, that finished in January, 1st, 2020. Hahaha! It was an amazing match of tennis ever. John Isner and Nicolas Mahut: two ironmen of this sport.
I still remember a NBA game between Pistons and Jazz, ended up Pistons win 64-62. That was waaaaay back in 2004 or 2005 IIRC.
In 2019 LSU AND TEXAS AM PLAYED THE GREATEST COLLEGE Football game ever

Isner scored more aces during this match than Fabrice Santoro in his whole career
Believe it or not but this match is live, it's not over yet.
Someone told me that Mahut is about to go a break ahead
@@solecolasudinoi3550 Jaja,
Mahut has retired 3 times from tennis and the game is not over yet...

Both players died of old age and their reincarnations came back to finish it.
Since this match started, Nadal has lost two matches at Roland Garros and withdrew from one.
During the 11 hours and 5 minutes of this match, Peter Ebdon managed to make a break of 12 in snooker.
Underrated
Also his hair grew back.
@@MirzaAhmed89 and fell out again
And Kevin Na managed to complete nine holes.
12 is abit far fetched. Would have missed after the 2nd shot
Even as a proper tennis fan, I'm not sure if I can safely go through this challenge.. :-)
Marek Papathanasiou Lol same
I'll go to it. But not at once
Imagine the audience. Got exhausted from clapping and wore down their hands
I remember watching this live on tv with my dad...literally did nothing but watch this match for days.
If they played 11 hrs, they must’ve had some doo doo breaks
Well, it's taken 10 years for this match to get a full upload. It's just the sheer length that's far too much for most people, and I imagine some, not all, would probably begin viewing at the beginning of the fifth set. The match's historical aspect is completely untouchable, it was f.....g extraordinary.
Exactly 10 years ago this match was in it's 2nd day of being played. By far the craziest thing I have ever seen in sport. Both will always be winners to me.
6:34:28 what an incredible point at this stage in the match!
In one of Mahut's qualifying matches, he won the final set 26-24. He must have been exhausted after this match.
It’s already been more than 12 years since this legendary tennis match!
Watched the whole match. It’s crazy to see how exhausted Isner became that second day and still kept the aces coming! He could barely move he was so exhausted. And Mahut just looked like it was a regular fifth set! Amazing.
Imagine coming to watch the final set on day 2 expecting a finish only to see it stop at 59-59.
I attended this game because I heard it is 8 hours(the longest match) and I still have 2 hours at least to travel, I thought I just make it through the ceremony but yet the match isn't yet over these two players are legendss
Isner realized how if felt to be Mahut after his semi final match with Anderson. (24-26 fifth set).
Fun fact: the fifth set alone was longer then the 2nd longest match in history.
11 hours I'll never get back. But
well worth it. Absolute athletic heroism.
This will never happen again, long after humans extinct and long after hell freezes over.
Imagine if zverev never injured himself….
@@agenthoini no one knows anything. The match could have just ended in 3 or 4 sets. So, pipe down
10 years ago today... how incredible it is that it's been that long.
Honestly, I'd prefer to be Mahut in this scenario. I'd rather go home and rest than show up the next day to be absolutely obliterated by my next opponent. (Isner was destroyed in his next match, of course.)
Mahut played a doubles match directly after this match
@@benparsons4979 lol
The just next match, Isner lost the fastest match in history of Winbledon
Mahut struggled to regain his intensity for months though... said every game just felt lame in comparison
9:47:49 huge respect to the fighting heart of mahut....

@K & K & K no way
i saw 1 rally in 3 games. No wonder it went on for so long. :) Amazing endurance and mental strength, and amazing serving!
As incredible as this score is, it was right to bring in a tiebreak, because whoever won this match was never gone with the second round. Isner got smashed
Yeah, it ended up being the only ATP Tour/Grand Slam match where Isner got bageled
@@DylanWagner well he did get bageled by sinner recently but that wasn’t atp or slam so yeah
0k k
it was davis cup
The new rule is very appropriate, but the final should never be subject to the new tiebreaker rule. The 2019 Fed/Djokovic final should have gone until someone went up two games. That's a hell of a way to end a tournament. RIP Fed.
I like the part where around 8:25:40, one of them held serve.
Isner blinked 9538 times during this match and Mahut 8447.
…ok
No..... Just no. I'm not going to verify that
@@JesusChrist-qi8yo Oh my God, Jesus. Luck for me because it could be that Isner blinked on 9537 occasions: I'm not sure if the blink 182 after 8 minutes can be considered as a proper blink.

Have the rules changed for Wimbledon?
@@fforfreedom8893 Yes, from this year all the grand slams now play a tie-break (first to 10 points) at 6-6 in the final set. They said it'll be a trial, but I can't imagine they'll go back. Shame really :( Wimbledon had a tie-break at 12-12 for a while, which was a nice compromise.
It took me a full day of work and 3 hours of overtime to finish watching this match.....
This is one of the best uploads ever.
I watch this video daily to start my day, keeps me motivated the rest of the day
As a big server myself having to play that long under that much pressure on serve is just incredible.

@@VL1975 the 140th, it was pure class.
Dude I follow a lot of tennis, how have I never seen this before. This was insane! Absolutely epic match, one for the ages.
Probably the longest TH-cam video that I've ever seen.
Isner: I like to be on court more than anywhere else in the world.
