    That 3rd and 20 gem against Seattle always gives me goosebumps!!!! Here's why so many Haters refuse to give Romo his just due: Expectation. Here's a guy undrafted, comes into the league as a 3-4th QB on the roster, gets put inot the starting job and lights it up. We realize there's more to this guy than meets the eye. He leads through deeds not bravado. He's a gamer not a showboat. His natural talent and instincts are better than all but the VERY FEW who ever played the position. Yeah, his confidence in himself and his teammates tends to cloud his judgement sometimes and he makes poor decisions when the team least can afford them. BUT he balances his failures with unbelievable plays that snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. WE EXPECT him to win despite having less than stellar talent around him. WE EXPECT him to win despite having a below average defense for all of his tenure as the starter. WE EXPECT him to lift this team and carry it over the finish line single handedly if needed....just like a super star is suppose to.
    We forget that NO player can achieve what we expect Tony Romo to do on his own....
    Tom Brady was ordinary when he didn't have the talent around him to win 5 Super Bowls.
    Peyton Manning ALWAYS came up short until a defense and running game in Indy and Denver was upgraded.
    Drew Brees couldn't get it done until the Saints found a defense.
    Eli Manning always seems to luck up and have the defense save his bacon.
    NO QUARTERBACK has ever won a Super Bowl without a QUALITY DEFENSE. But you can tick off the names of great quarterbacks AND offenses that have been stymied by great CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENSES. Defenses that may not have been Top 10 all year, but were insurmountable when it counted.

    • @teej783

      Romo's mistakes were all due to trying to compensate for no help around him. For every miscue, there are two clutch throws that either get dropped or called back for penalties. Remember when the Cowboys lost to the Giants after Bryant reached out of bounds with his hand? On the play before that Ogletree dropped a sure TD at the right flag. The play afterwards, Miles Austin dropped one at the goal line in the middle of the field. Austin did well a couple of games but he couldn't catch a ball over his shoulder. The Cowboys lost two different games to the Giants because of that. Everyone forgets that when Romo takes a chance and instead of throwing a touch pass to Austin against Kansas City he tries to zip one in there and gets it intercepted. The play before that though had Witten drop a pass that hit him right in the numbers.
      Everyone remembers the muffed hold but not the untouched fumble by Terry Glen that created a safety that turned the Cowboys 7 point lead into a 2 point deficit. Witten also had enough for the first down on 3rd down but got a bad spot, which at that time was not reviewable. Parcells should have called for the FG on 3rd down anyway because Romo was playing with an injury to his non-throwing hand. On the muffed hold, if any of the other Cowboys had kept playing to the whistle that play turns into at least a first down and maybe a score. Watch Grammatica avoid getting run over and that defender becomes the tackler from behind.
      Romo made receivers better than they were. Not just the Robinsons but also the Bryants and Wittens. Look how they both appeared with Dak at QB over the last 2 years. Romo's best chance at a SB was destroyed by two drops of sure go-ahead, winning TDs by Patrick Crayton while Romo is remembered for trying to get it to Bryant.

      ddland45 thanks for this. Great way to sum it up. You couldn't have said it any better. Romo was amazing in every sense. The media just left a tinge on his name that can't be removed. All because he was robbed of his hardware whether it be MVP or Conference Championship

    • @gregoryhoward7594
      @gregoryhoward7594 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Romo was definitely one of the best. Never got credit for being able to zing that ball into places. I truly believe he would have received much more credit if not for that fumbled hold on the FG OR... if he was successful running it in when he tried to salvage it.
      He was robbed against the Packers in the playoffs no doubt about it. The NFL keeps trying to setup Brady vs Rodgers.
      They robbed us again in 2016 when they didn't call that TACKLE on Rodgers throw to get them in a long FG position to win.
      The commentators don't even discuss it because they are fanboys, but later video came out that points it out clearly.
      I would have loved to have seen Romo and Witten with a ring, but their time has past and I look forward to our current talent bringing one home.
      But the players need to stay out of trouble and we need to make sure we have depth. They need to have assurances for LT Smith and LB Lee and a Dunbar type 3rd down back option.
      Can't keep letting one player injury keep disrupting an entire unit like we saw last year.
      Have a people in place and have a backup plan if that person does not produce such as a TE to stay in and block.
      We actually should have learned that when we played the Vikings in the playoffs and lost our LT because we used a TE to help Lee in his place. People forget about that.

    5th best qbr of all time, 8th best td/int ratio of all time, owns every major Cowboys passing record, from 2006-2014 Romo.made more 4th quarter comebacks (23) and more game winning drives (27) than any other qb. He played in 80% of games despite being " injury prone" #9 was a fucking warrior ....tough as nails. Romo.made Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, Laurent good receivers & is a major factor in Witten having the Future Hall of Fame numbers he has. When T.O was with Dallas no other qb/wr had more than Romo and T.O & the same with Dez & Romo. Romo.made everyone around him on offense better. He had the best pocket awareness I've ever seen & an uncanny ability to make something out of nothing. He had the quicker release in NFL history (look it up) & he was great at reading a defense.and disecting a secondary. Goddamn i.miss #9. Most underated and under appreciated played I've ever watched. It was a joy watching him escape pressure with his Houdini act & make a memorable play. He had all those back and collarbone injuries from carrying the damn team his whole career. Not bad for an undrafted kid who sat on the bench for 4 seasons before given a chance. Romo is my all time favorite player and I'll never understand how anyone could hate on the guy. Go Cowboys !!!!!

      Romo made stars out of his team mates. Demarcus ware played better because he was on the same team. Romo, Witten and Ware all wanted those rings moreso than any other on that team.

    One of my favorite things about this video is the calls by Brad Sham. No better radio voice in sports, IMHO. Romo indeed had an MVP season. It's a shame the Cowboys had their shot at going to the Super Bowl this season stolen by a bad call in Green Bay. Nonetheless, Romo had an amazing season and deserves way more accolades than he will ever receive. This season was a culmination of all he had worked towards. Great video. I've watched it a LOT of times.

      All day, every day. Zeke was the true star of 2016 as Dak is an average QB at present. 2017 showed Dak for what he is; a big boy who was great in college but is finding the pros to be a lot tougher.

      Bro, let your feelings go for Romo. I did. Dak is our future. Hes more than capable of taking us "There". Look at his work ethics, he's the leader Tony wasnt. Trust me when I say I this. Dak will be the reason we get #6

    • @SpaceDreamN
      @SpaceDreamN 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony is retired and Dak still can't carry his jock strap on his best day. Dak is the second coming of a Quincy Carter or a Tebow who lacks passing skills. Anybody can throw the ball but few are true passers. Dak still can't hit the broad side of a barn so no he won't be why we get a 6th. Zeke and the O line would be the reason but ya still HAVE TO PASS and we can't do that because we lack a true passer.

    I remember Peyton manning and Denver vs Dallas. This was Denver Superbowl run. Romo had over 500 yards and 4 TD's and 1 Int, and lost 41-40 and all people talked about was the interception. That was Romo haters in a nutshell. I never could understand the hate. He had a terrible team until the last 3 years, and you see they were one play from the championship game. It was always up to him. He has more 4th Quarter comebacks than anyone in the NFL.

      That one game showed Romo beating Manning. One play lost it but when Romo feels the game is on his shoulders he will run with it and give all he can. The defense lost that game. A few miced players admitted so. How many bombs did he launch and complete for those 500+ yards?

    Even though I thought Watt should have been the MVP for 2014, if I had to choose a QB for MVP It would have been Tony Romo he had better numbers than Rogers and came back from injury to lead the Cowboys to a division title and playoff win. The unfortunate thing is that the AP chose the MVP (I.e the media) and it was annoying that Rogers won the award he had good numbers but Romo or Watt should have been the MVP for 2014.

      And the very next season when Romo went down, was there any more proof that he was 2014's MVP? 3-1 with Tony and 1-9 without him. It's supposed to stand for Most VALUABLE Player, meaning for the team they play on. Instead, the lazy, pussy media just went with Rogers because it was a nice, safe pick.

    Been a romo fan since day 1 man. Miss him out there . If he had stayed healthy I do believe the boyz would’ve been I’m super bowl after the 14 season. This new offense is boring now

    The injuries were the reason we wanted romo to retire not because he couldn’t play. I agree with all of you I miss romo too but I couldn’t stand to see him laying on that ground grimacing in pain every season best thing to happen to him was becoming a commentator

    I fell in love with football because of Tony Romo I love Romo he is a far better quarterback than Dak. If we would have had a offensive line built a long time ago or a defense ranked in the top 10 more than just once in his career we would have had a chance to go far

    Romo is such a beast. If he coulda stayed healthy or had a team like this in 14 I don't think that green at game comes down to the catch. That being said I'm soon thankful for dak Prescott. He's the best qb in 2016 and we got him with a confitional 4th

      Dak is not who you think he is. He lucked out playing behind the best running team in football against the worst teams in league history. Only the Giants had a winning record when they played the Cowboys in 2015. The Packers lose because they fumble twice on the same play and have their 3rd string secondary due to injury and the Steelers at .500 got beat by a "Clutch" handoff to Elliott. The win/loss record that year of Cowboy's opponents was 144 to 92 and that was with the Packers and Steelers both winning out their last six games. Strength of Schedule was completely ignored because of Dak's race and Steven Jone's jealousy of Romo's relationship with Jerry Jones. Romo should have been brought back against Cleveland as a warmup game and he would have shredded the Packer's secondary in that playoff game. They were down to their 3rd String due to injuries. Even if Romo had gotten hurt again the rest of the league wouldn't have had as much tape on Prescott. Prescott is a game manager. On what the media called his "perfect" game against a team that eventually went 4 and 12, the longest pass he threw in the air was 9 yards.
      He made both Witten and Bryant look below average the last two years. I so hope Bryant gets released and goes to San Francisco for Garappollo. Zeke was the real Rookie of the Year and the Cowboys held him back. He could have broken Eric Dickerson's record and could have been the sixth player to get over 2000 yards rushing and receiving. I think that is why Zeke acted so immature last year after not getting the respect he deserved.

  • @alwaysopen7970
    @alwaysopen7970 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Romo was MVP every year given what he had to work with. He would have a 3 TD lead and the defense would give it up.

I was disappointed that Rodgers took it. all that record that romo broke in '14 that supposed to be his year and the Cowboys year. unfortunately they shit on all the Cowboys fan on the mvp award and the divisional playoff. we all knew that Dez catch was actually a catch. same catch he does every damn game. smh. I was hurt man.

He threw 2 more the week after this game in washington to end the regular season. Not to nit pick but try paying attention and having your facts straight if you are going to be a dick.

    • @umlbp
      @umlbp 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jonathan oh no Murray had hella carries, as you can see the RB doesn't matter if they are quality... 3 yrs in a row they've had 1000+ yds rushing 3 different backs... Only difference is romo would have more yds and tds... With this yrs schedule being kind of easy romo may have bin undefeated... I don't see him losing any game dak n da boys won but I feel he would have fucked the g men up both times...

    • @kingturtle19
      @kingturtle19 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      umlbp Romo wouldn't have lost to the Giants twice.

    • @teej783
      @teej783 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You sure are pretty wrong. Demarco Murray had a great half of the year with the first 8 games over 100 yards rushing and over 5 yards a carry. Over the last half of the season, he averaged 4 yards a carry. The first half of the season 1054 yards and second half 791 yards from scrimmage. Romo in 15 games had 3,705 yards passing, 69.9% completion rate, 34 TDs to 9 Ints (4 in the first game after not playing preseason game). Murray's fumbles not only cost the Cowboys the playoff game in Green Bay, his fumble against Washington led to Romo's back injury.
