Woo! Alright this took me almost a month and once the finale came out I totally went back and edited my concepts so that it was canon. I started it right after The Festival took place. Either way I'm super proud of this and I'm also so happy to be done! I hope you all like it!!

This. Is absolutely stunning. Watching a song of mine woven into such a hauntingly beautiful story felt otherworldly. You have a gift my friend, never stop.

The entire reason he joined the server was for war. It was said in like his second live stream. He joined tommy cause they were the side who was fighting the most...

This is beautiful. It captures his character perfectly. How resigned, how broken and at loose ends he feels compared to everyone else. He couldn't cheer on Tubbo as president, not when he knew of the explosives beneath his feet, of the remains of what left to do hanging over his head. No higher praise for animation like this.
Not going to lie, thought Wilbur was singing this until I checked out the artist.

I actually thought Wilbur realized a new song without me getting notified about it. I was about to say TH-cam was wack and reenact the cat at the dinner table being yelled at thing, but hey, I guess the website never did anything in the first place.

@@laarnierosepayumo567 did he though? He really didn’t get peace, more of a blissful emptiness. He’s not happy, he’s said that multiple times his existence is still pain and shows symptoms of depression. He’s purposefully repressing painful memories to avoid trauma. He seems like he’s trying to not exist anymore, since he flat-out said that he wants to fully die and doesn’t want to exist anymore, even as a ghost, because his existence is just fully pain, which is why he’s trying to rebuild L’Manburg because he thinks it will finish his unfinished business. He’s in a state of just emptiness and melancholy, like a lost soul. It’s really sad to think about.

@@melodytheatre2887 yeah and he also said he didn't remember any of his sad/painful/traumatising memories but he said so himself that he can remember his own father killing him after he pretty much begged him to do it, so yeah if that's not depressing then I don't know what is.
Oh my GOD?! This was absolutely chilling, the song fit so well and you did such an incredible job!! The shot of his hand slipping down to rest on the button, and then the hesitation, and then the sound effect when he pushed it in AND THEN THE CUT TO BLACK AND SILENCE, was phenomenal. Wilbur's facial expressions during the entire animatic were really good as well, the dead eyes, and the resignation. This might be one of my favorite dreamsmp animatics of all time, I actually can't put into words how much I loved it (I'm definitely trying though). GOd and the cut from wilbur slumped in the chair in front of the button to Tommy and Tubbo and then back to Wilbur with his head in his hands gave me CHILLS.

every little detail in this really is SO GOOD and the lipsyncing is PHENOMENAL even with the “limited” movement of his mouth
your art is godly. the song fits so well. the use of bright colors against dull colors is amazing. everything about this is PERFECT.

There are so many small gestures and quick little scenes in here that really just make this a masterpiece. I love how he drags his fingers along the walls as he walks, the noteblock with that one piano note, how Tubbo bangs his fists against the concrete. Plus this song fits so well!
This Dream SMP thing is better then the whole Netflix.

I love how every time "peace" is said, Wilbur gets a flashback of a happy memory, physically looks back and/or starts to hesitate.. up until the last time "peace" was said were he decides to make a move forward instead of hesitate or reminisce..
the haunted, exhausted, and absolutely devastatingly resigned expressions on wilbur's face throughout are just so.....amazing. the scratchy style just makes it look so AMAZING!!!
Awesome animatic! Like how you drew Willbur's character, it feels like he is literally a new villian on the SMP :O The art style, atmosphere, memories and famous "It was never meant to be". This song feels like it was made for him and... I kinda want back those happy L'Manberg days. But new storyline is very intresting and it inspires so many people to create cool things like this :) Thanks for new amazing video!
Absolutely LOVING how when Wilbur passes the sign his head covers it at first so that only MANBURG is showing. Also SHAYFER JAMES SONG POG!

Sad-ist prepare because a new enemie is coming. But he don't get attention as sad is because he made a lot of animations of dream SMP when it was new the theme and animations.
@Alessandro Palladini Innocence is my favourite but this is easily as good just from a different styling.
not to diss the creator but sadist actually like implements actual animations, full color, and smooth art, rather than a layout and mostly grey or black. Still, good animation
I would just like to stop this discussion here, since SAD-ist has explicitly stated to not compare any MCYT animators with her, and I know you don't mean for it to be rude and you want it to be a compliment but it apparently puts pressure on her and discourages other mcyt animators

still here, currently going through my playlist of dream smp animatics, about 4000 videos long. This one always sticks out.
I don’t know if it’s the song or if it’s the actual art but there something about this that just gives me an different kind of chills. It’s seems so quite it’s almost peaceful. And it’s not just a “ah finally peace after everything” it’s more of a “everything’s is at peace...it’s not suppose to be.” kinda vibe if you get what I mean.

It feels calm like the eye of the storm, calm in it's desolation, you feel wrong even as your nerves settle and your shoulders relax, fully knowing the wall of devastation coming for you is still there. The lilting voice and bare bones melody feel like warm rain on devastated neighborhoods, people checking on their neighbors while the weather allows, time so short before they're shut in their houses again with no power or guarantee for safety. Idk why I went this deep it's a song and it's a haunting amv

This is the best representation of Wilbur’s arc that I’ve ever seen! The music fit so perfectly! And the way you drew Wilbur with his dead eyes was just... *chef’s kiss. I can’t even describe how much I love this animatic!

I really like this animatic, most dream SMP animatic are epic or comedic in nature but this one is probably one of the few death themed animatics.
Throughout the enitre song there is a the constant sound of heavy bells, reminiscent of church bells. It reminds me of a certain character's death in deathnote. Like tne title implies, the entire song and animatic is a lament. The song is always speaking of never deserving but never revealing what was never deserved... of course all of this is reinforced heavily by the art itself.
But if there was a part of the animatic that would be my favorite, it's got to be the final few seconds of the animatic. In particular, the scene of wilbur sitting down on the chair, his eyes becoming hidden as the screen cuts to tommy and tubbo on the bench then back to wilbur, head lowered further with a small smile. And the part where the screen fades to black except for his hatred-filled eyes,
It could be said to be the darkest moment of the animatic, the expectations of those watching would think that after all that lament, all the constant ringing, all the regrets, and all the longing, wilbur would do something terrible like the moments before someones decides to kill.
But in that final moment...
Contrasting to his hatred filled look was one filled with love and affection.
Gently squinting eyes and a small smile...
He gently laid his hands on the button as if stroking the head of a child... of l'manburg, the child of all of his hard work...
The bells stopped ringing as the song reveals what was never deserved all this time-
-you...
As Wilbur pushes the button.
Similar to that character's death in deathnote and everywhere at the end of time, it has that unexpected moment of peace at the very end. The moment before someone desr dies.
The moment that button was pressed, l'manburg and by extension Wilbur... died.
This was delightfully creepy, I got fucking goosebumps... Please keep at it.
