Well done Slick, each handcrafted knife should be an entity all it's own. It should be shaped by the Craftsman as he sees it appear before him. No short cuts, No excessive rework. Make Art - Get out, your first vision usally hits home.
I always wondered what the TEW stag looked like (I couldn't find real pictures anywhere, ever) I am impressed to say the least. I would snatch that beauty up yesterday if possible.😍
Truly an exquisite handcrafted gem. No room for picky-ness on this one Slick.
    N+1...with N being a LWTEW Barlow!😂

Absolutely amazing looking knife im thinking at the min of doing a series of my journey to find the perfect traditional for myself. Might have to look into Lee White for a traditional

Great to see 'my' TEW on screen Eric. It looks nicer than when I had it, and the reason is obvious - it's getting more love in its new home!
Your points about handmade 'character' versus machined 'perfection' are well made, as is the observation that we all take our own view on minor 'defects'. My remaining TEW Barlow, in buffalo, is perhaps less characterful...
Would I buy another TEW? Yes, although probably one of their Slim Barlows for added variety.
Regarding the deer at Woburn, their website claims they have nine different species, including the only UK herd of one they refer to as 'Rusa Deer'. Although not identical to Sambar, they are 'closely allied biologically' and often treated as the same species. This might explain why I was told by a Sheffield retailer that the stag on your knife was from "the only herd of Sambar deer in Britain, the one at Woburn".

David S the Gentlman’s Clip Point is a good, and very practical pattern. I’d like a few more as circumstance allow.
That’s interesting on the Stag. You never see figuring like that on Case or GEC covers.
Y, I hunk this knife is in exactly the right place! I love it, thank you!

I prefer the lumpy irregular stag, it does, as you say have more character. It is also a bit more of a challenge to the maker to decide how to make the most of it, in the case of this knife, Lee White certainly did.

@@slick_slicers I think that is the difference between an artisan and a craftsman; a craftsman is highly skilled in a trade whereas an artisan is as highly skilled but is particularly skilled in hand crafting and putting his personality into his work.

Great points on what contributes to the unique character for each knife. I find myself just staring at the grains of my ironwood TEW barlow, through out the day, knowing there’s no other TEW like it. That stag handle looks fantastic, btw.

There's some joke about character flaws in there but I'm going to leave it.
A true craftsman put that knife together. A machine would have sacrificed the natural for the symmetrical.
It's kinda like you were giving a mini art appreciation lecture. Well done. Good on the both of yous.
