    I just bought two of these. Easily the best kit. Expensive but it's nice having a quick connect and not having to use electrical boxes and romex.
    Oh I lied, your video has the old version. Their new one comes prewired and has a quick connect. You don't have to connect any wires yourself - it's awesome.

      @@NewYears1978 that's amazing. If I have to do this again I'll for sure upgrade.

      @@StephenHelwigTalksTech Do you have one for how to install a TV mount? I have seen where people say, you must have studs....that is one thing I am looking to do next as well with a sound bar (Floating idea)

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Theaquaplex unfortunately I didn't record that part. You do need to have studs. The mounts are designed so that it will align to a stud.

    I put electricity in a closet. It took me 15 minutes including clean up. So simple. Thank.

    Good job, Brotha! I actually copped 2 of the WM-2 kits on clearance at Wal-Mart for $10/ea. and plan on using one for an upcoming install of my 86" LG. You explained the process very well and I have just subbed to your channel.

    So quick question, why is a power bridge like this safe to run behind the wall but not the actual tv cord or extension cord?

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose you could run an extension cord, however the reason for doing this is as much for looks as for function.

    • @richcooper6880
      @richcooper6880 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I had considered the same, but the reality is, Romex wire is designed to be installed in a wall, an extension cord isn't. If your extension cord in the wall starts a fire your insurance company may have a thing or two to say if you file a claim...

    • @Karim-ik5ij
      @Karim-ik5ij ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Romex doesn't heat up and cause fires. No power cords are supposed to be run behind the wall per code

    I already have an outlet at the bottom. Can I just take it off and replace with the bottom box or do I have to cut a new hole to install the bottom box?

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to install the box at the bottom in order to have the wire come out from behind the wall. So you'll need to cut the hole.

    Possible to install this on plaster walls as well as drywall?

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm honestly not sure. I've never done this on plaster and wouldn't want to provide inaccurate info. Maybe check the manufacturers website for the kit you are buying and see if they mention it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    What happens if you need to cross studs? Can I drill through studs?

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a better question for a contractor. I personally would avoid doing that. There also shouldn't be a need to cross studs based on the design of the PowerBridge.

    Great video, but in order for me to connect other cables to the tv like hdmi I would have to make another hole to route those wires ..

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you need to make two holes

    • @professorjosh3743
      @professorjosh3743 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It has an opening in the box to pass wires through. Thats what the little brush/wires are in each of the boxes.

  • @zaneblane8160
    @zaneblane8160 ปีที่แล้ว

    You didn't show adding the cables..

    • @StephenHelwigTalksTech
      @StephenHelwigTalksTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Zane, all you need to do is simply route your cables, for instance an HDMI cable, through the slot in the box you installed and the top and then pull it out of the box on the bottom. If needed you can remove the bottom box temporarily to make it easier to access the cable on the wall.
