  • from an episode of The Progressive Internationalist: fb.watch/3F9PSQ2A1A/
No radical transformation of the world is possible without radicality of love. But, with the Covid-19 pandemic and its ill-named social-distancing dictum, we find ourselves trying to build our social worlds anew amidst an accelerating digitisation of life.
Big Tech is colonising - or even pre-programming - desire. The populist right is masterfully asserting the language of emotions. As Valentine's Day makes clear, even love has not escaped commodification.
What can and must progressives do to rescue love from the fatal grips of capitalism and fascism? How can we create multiple forms of social bonds, while using mutual aid, solidarity and comradeship not only as the means for creating a better world but as the seeds of its emancipation?
In this special episode of *The Internationalist*, we will not only reflect on the rich legacy of "red love", from Alexandra Kollontai's restless fight against the "privatisation of heart" and the material shifts that followed the October Revolution, to the Zapatista and Kurdish movements that have centred love in their struggles but consider how to assert love as a crucial ingredient of a new internationalism.
