You're a real life saver I have exams coming up and your channel has helped me more than the lecturers I'm literally learning a 2 month lecture in few days😂😂💪
as someone who did not do physics and focused on the social sciences, this is so exciting and just darn incredible to hear. yall are dealing with some interesting ish.
Same except my classes are more focused on economics. I'm filled with regrets but im now going back to pursue science. Everytime I learn something new about physics i can't sleep because I'm so in awe of how everything fits
Man you are so awesome. I really admire your passion in teaching and somewhat envy you :(. I don't know your age or if you're already in college or what, but you sound just like an average senior high school student. So the fact that you've already nearly-mastered all branch of sciences and also math is truly mesmerizing. Not to mention you now teach what you already have known, or you're just really a fast learner who read, study, and teach what you learned. Nonetheless I hope you the best! Keep doing what you're doing 'cause it fuels me to learn more about science (especially Chem). Last 4 years, I have been trying to master every branch of Math up to Calculus now that I'm in the 12th grade. But then I realize that I need to be a jack of all subjects to be the top student in my class. How I wish you also make Biology videos hehe :)
For starters, thank you for yet another great video. IMHO, I think your channnel is one of the best science and maths channels on TH-cam. 1. I do have a slight problem with your skater analogy. You do not have to be standing on ice to "feel" (0:42) the reaction force, from throwing the ball. I would possibly have clarified the role of friction, or rather the lack thereof, in this case a bit better. 2. Regarding the astronaut analogy, you correctly state the assumption that there are no other planets nearby (3:16) so it is just out of interest then to note that, in a normal universe filled with planets and all sorts of other stuff, throwing the ball "down" will NOT move the astronaut "up", it will merely increase the eccentricity of the astronaut's orbit* AND most likely not even in the intended direction. I can envisage a scenario for e.g. where throwing the ball "up" will also move the astronaut "up". * ALL objects in space are ALWAYS in a net trajectory influenced by gravity from ALL other objects in space.
if Sarah is exerting a force of 540 N west, wouldn't you plug in the -540 N for the force and then her acceleration would end up being negative 6 m/s? (ie. she's being pushed backwards)
In your example Lucy applies 540 N force on Sarah and Sarah just standing there. Is that correct? so that is how the equation ended up as you have it. What if Sarah wasn't just standing there but also exerted say another 200 force on Lucy at the same time. How would your equation would like then? Thank you.
With equations like F=MA, why use newtons for the force and not kg/meter? Does the newton just so happen to work without a crazy conversion? What a coincidence? How do kgs measure mass but lbs do not? Is mass the amount of atoms in an entity or the amount of electrons, or something else?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but at the end acceleration was measured in m/s2 and the unit depends on what the velocity is measured in right? So how do we know if it's m/s or not?
Got a fun and "harder" question for u to solve ;D A woman is skiing down a snow-covered hill. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the skis and the snow is μk = 0.0800. The hill is at a 60.00° angle from the horizontal. The skier's mass is 55.00kg. What is the magnitude of the force along the skier's direction of motion?
I just wanted to ask, do you also teach X-camp coding (java)? I think I have heard your voice before, thank you for your help as a teacher! Is it really you though (please respond)?
Hello! I just want to ask something because I am confused regarding with the result in example, for sarah since it has a negative force, doesnt mean that its acceleration would be negative also? Is this correct or not? I hope you'll be able to read this.
Since Lucy exerts a force in a positive direction onto Sara, Sara would accelerate in a positive direction at a rate of 6m/s^2. But since the force Sara exerts of Lucy is in a negative direction, Lucy would accelerate in a negative direction at a rate of 9m/s^2.
So lets say I am just standing and not exerting any force on someone at all and some guy comes and pushes me with a 1000 N force why do I fly 2 feet back. I exerted no force at all. Or you mean the fact that because I was standing there with my mass and then I accelerated 2 feet back shows that I had applied 1000 N force and the combined push back of force on me ( My mass X that acceleration) was what I got back? Is that how it works?
You did exert a force. It might not have been on purpose, but if something is Contacting you, you're exerting a force on it. Imagine trying to exert a force if 1000 newton's onto open air. You simply couldn't. You have to have something to push against, and whatever you push against pushes back just as hard. Now in his example, the reaction wouldn't really occur quite like that unless the people were in space. But as long as you have two feet on the ground you can redirect the force that is pushing you to the ground.

if Sarah is exerting a force of 540 N west, wouldn't you plug in the -540 N for the force and then her acceleration would end up being negative 6 m/s? (ie. she's being pushed backwards)
That's what I did, you still get the same answer it's just a different direction. So it will be 6.0 m/s^2 (backward)/(left)

What is the difference between the action-reaction force and equal and opposite one)
Thank you so much and I wonder why are we learning this in sixth grade
Sir in your example 1 in this video, the force of Sarah supposed to be -540N right, and her acceleration to be -6mls^2
What would each of the gals acceleration be if both had their legs sunk a foot down in a very thick mud? Please calculate? Thank you.
What is the difference between the action-reaction force and equal and opposite one?
I know it's a year late but this has been a question I've been pondering about for a while now also.
Is lucy side supposed to have -540N since its to west?
I use my tank's cannon to accelerate faster towards the opposite direction.
May I ask where did you get the square? Thanks
