Still relevant after 10 years of this video being made! I am doing this today!
Took this class at Rio. It is wonderful.
I used to do this in the 1990s. It can be pretty cool.
Don't know if comments on these older videos are looked at by Rio, but if so, what gauge brass and copper for the vice jaw protection?
@river2520 Awesome, glad it turned out well!
cool.
what do you do when you don't have a rolling mill? I just hammered mine as flat as I could with my mallet. I came out ok, but more straight without the curve.
Hi There! thanks for watching. For this process, hammering the metal just as you described also works. This gives really cool textures along with the great form folds! The rolling mill does smooth these out, but the process can be achieved either way. The rolling mill is not absolutely necessary. Hope this helps!
@@RioGrande1944 would a 3'" combination rolling mill work just fine, or is there a type of rolling mill that's best?
@@daniellecook112 A good choice would be the Durston Mills, flat or combo! Whichever mill you choose will need to have a flat area that accommodates the size of piece you are working on. Here is a great option: www.riogrande.com/searchresults#q=durston%20agile%20&t=products&sort=relevancy&layout=card&numberOfResults=36.
