What I took from the film is that Kiri has no father. When Grace’s life was unable to be saved, Eywa instead recompensed her life with Kiri.
Grace’s avatar was essentially impregnated when it was connected to the Tree as she died.
It explains how Kiri is able to do exactly what Eywa does, namely control nature. She’s Eywa’s Avatar in a way.

Regarding the issue of intelligent whales, I've always enjoyed a quote from Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - "Man has always assumed that he is more intelligent than dolphins because he has achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But, conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons."

@@karlwest437 that is a very Human interpretation.... Because humans are arrogant.... Intelligence has nothing to do with accomplishments or physical achievements.... Intelligence is the ability to absorb information.... ability to understand.... We can't physically see a Dolphins intelligence...but those that live interacting with them can feel the intelligence ....
In Avatar... they can connect with living beings on a different level ..the bond lets them see eachothers thoughts and feelings.... it's a direct link to the essence of life..... unfortunately we can't make that connection in real Life...which is why only those who spend their lives with these animals are able to experience the intelligence

@@edwinnavedojr they made a fun point about that in the latest season of 'The Orville'. Its also a human flawed logical argument thats used when dominating or colonizing a "lesser" culture.
"Oh, you live in mud huts? Well we live in cities and have guns and bombs. You cant be as smart as us because you live in these mud huts so we're going to take over around here 😊" - Colonizer logic

From the Dolphins' perspective, humans are probably weird for wanting to build strange boxes to live in, and swing sticks around. Just because they have no interest in what we prioritize, doesn't make them stupid, they just have different values from us.

    • @TheSaymak
      @TheSaymak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@edwinnavedojr I feel like we’re on the same wavelength! People are inherently greedy and we hoard every resource available including knowledge which turned out to be to our benefit but also lead to acquiring arrogance to measure intelligence by solely using our one dimensional criteria of physical evidence of intelligence. So basically if whales cannot pass SATs, they are dumb 🤦🏼‍♂️

Grace, I strongly have to disagree on Sam Worthingtons performance. It was confident, well matured compared with the more wild and naive performance of the first film. I think his range of emotion was exactly what it was supposed to be. He needed to be the pillar of his family, someone they can all lean on as fathers be. Not quite sure what else he could have done differently or improve in any way.

I thought Spider was kinda silly at first, but halfway thru I actually liked that he’s basically Tarzan, born into a world that isn’t his, being a Navi at heart. I also appreciated Kiri’s development, having struggled with seizures myself. There’s still so much that *humans* don’t know about them that I agreed when Grace said that the scientists diagnosing Kiri with epilepsy probably wasn’t accurate, just their way of trying to quantify it bc they still don’t fully understand Eywa or Pandora. Both Kiri and Spider are fascinating characters.

This is my first time crying for a movie , I cried three times , I was not an avatar person , I was 8 and thought it was the last airbender movie James Cameron nailed the concept of humanity no matter how much he used aliens to do it , it’s such a powerful film even beyond the action , it’s not even just an action film it’s a movement film in a way a dancer moves to tell a story , it was just simply beautiful

I just saw it. I just don't like the whole let's do the same villian again but change it alittle. It feels like sloppy writing. Maybe come up with something that is going to threaten their world other then the dude you already killed. Other than that, the frame rate thing was a bit wonky was fast for a second then slowed down. The visuals are stunning you can see the water droplets on their faces and the 3d was crazy good. I overall enjoyed the movie it was a 1 time watch for me and the plot was decent but the last half was really when things got great. I'd give it a 7/10 I do say it is a must watch in the theater tho. I'm trying to convince people to see this but most of them don't have time to rewatch the first one then go see this.

Grace famously didn’t like the original film….even though just because it was the 1st time, it was not as tiresome a collection of predictable cliches as this on. Her opinion sometimes just seems to be reflection of preexisting state of mind. There’s no logic behind the review. Some of the best 3D I've seen since I saw the first one in theaters and it's definitely one of the best visual effects in movies ever (probably the best since we saw the effects in Endgame in 2019). Cameron is definitely great at crafting these somewhat simple stories with very complex themes and giving us an unforgettable experience with the visuals. The world of Pandora is definitely amazing to explore and it's so well crafted and so well put together that you really have a memorable experience when it comes down to it. I wouldn't mind more movies exploring 3D like this.

I would totally believe if human science couldn't help something that is out of their league so to speak. I'm sorry but saying that Quaritch calling Neytiri Mrs Sully is basically him saying that Jake ordered her to do it is just NO. I don't know if in the first movie at any point he even knew Neytiri's names. So considering he is after Jake then finds that his wife was actually the one that killed him, I just think that Mrs Sully is a way of saying "Jake Sully's wife". And I don't know about you but Quaritch seems like the guy that would just say Mrs Sully just as almost anyone would say that. Come on not everything is that political grace

  • @kbg12ila

I actually didn't like this movie that much after being so hyped and loving the first one. I think emotionally it doesn't connect as much as James Cameron movies usually do. I knew very early on that the first son who was given almost no lines and attention would be the one to die if any of them died and it was such a boring choice. He had almost no dialogue the whole movie and was by far the most bland character in the movie. Not only did this make it predictable but it also made the emotional scenes at the end have was less impact than they could have if they'd chosen to kill off a character the audience would actually care about. For me the emotional core for the story was missing and so I didn't really care about anything that was going on. I don't even think there was a single conversation between Neytiri and the first son and get his death and her reaction is treated as if it was Jack's death in Titanic.

The Tulkun being highly-intelligent forces us to face the truth of our existence as well. We have very little idea how intelligent other species’ are. We have theories and we can test them based on human capabilities, but unless we can communicate and understand every decision or whim they have, we really don’t know. The Metkayina came up with a way to communicate on a more philosophical level. Imagine what we’d learn if we could figure out how to communicate with another species like that. 🤯
