Santana is one of the reasons I’m gay. So is Mercedes. So is Brittany. So is sugar. And every girl in this song. And every girl in the original. And every girl. Basically what I’m saying is I’m gay
oh honey... been there, done that. I'm sure not a single gay/bi woman has ever watched Glee because of its plot. It always gotta be because of Santana OR any other Glee girl hahaha
artist 252 it’s ok lmao, I try to pretend that that plot line ever existed, and I will never refer to her as a he, not because I’m transphobic, but because that was a shitty contradicting storyline. They executed uniques trans story so much better, because she started out as trans, unlike beiste was upset about being manly and came to the realization that it’s ok to be a masculine woman
this was a really inappropriate song to sing for this situation like i can only imagine what coach beiste was feeling, but god i love watching this scene it's honestly one of the best performances and i'm just so gay
“You picked a song about crazy women in their panties killing their men for chewing gum” - I don’t know why, maybe because I’m a huge chicago fan, but I find this line hilarious
It's not fitting on the theme, but there was a woman (at least in the movie version, idk about all the live ones) who was actually innocent, but couldn't plead her case because she couldn't speak any English. She was the only one convicted of her crime, even though she didn't commit the murder. All the other murdereresses of the cook county jail got away with what they did and were eventually released. It's not a song about female empowerment, but rather about the unfairness of the judicial system of the time. My point here is that not all of the women were crazy murdering their husbands for popping gum.
This was a really interesting way how they portrayed this storyline. Glee is known for not handling sensitive topics correctly but the way throughout this whole episode we were supposed to think that Beiste wasn’t being abused until it was revealed in this song without actually being able to hear the scene but still understanding that the black eye was in fact from her boyfriend. And then later in the episode they finally did a rendition that handled the topic better and not making light of the situation either.
sugar had a great voice they could’ve just said that her dad hired a vocal coach because she wanted to do more solos to throw out that tone deaf story line
So im here years later to reassure myself that sugar never sang a verse here but on Spotify’s full version there she is. Not sure how I feel about it being in my playlist messing up my mind...
2:31 "You girls are cray-cray! You were supposed to pick a song that gave women the self-esteem and courage to get the hell out of an abusive situation. But, oh no! You picked a song about crazy women in their panties killing their men for chewing gum! How is that supposed to help?"
This is my least favorite version of the Cell Block Tango that I've seen so far, because it completely misses the point of the song. This song is about five crazy murderers and one woman who is innocent, but accused because she doesn't speak any English. Most renditions of the Cell Block Tango include one person singing in another language for the girl who says "uh-uh" because that's one of the most important parts of the song. The whole point behind the musical is that while all these women are going around acting like a badass and getting away with murder. The one woman who is innocent is the one who is defenseless and gets hanged. While all the real killers walk free. This is about injustice in the US justice system in the 1920's. Not only are they totally off mark for the theme that was chosen, but by leaving out that crucial part of the song they butchered it. They removed the part of the song that really packs the punch, the part that tells you what this musical is about.
I know it wasn’t the assignment, and it hurt Biest, but if it was a different assignment, it should be considered amazing because it really was. Also, guys, remember when Marley was suspended for not wearing a bikini in front of all her classmates and her teacher after just recovering from an eating disorder? Yeah apparently she got suspended for not fitting the assignment. They didn’t but they didn’t get suspended. Throughout the show people didn’t do the assignment and didn’t get suspended, only Marley, for reasonably not wanting to wear a bikini- #F*cMRSCHUE lol
This song reminds me of the Dee Dee Blanchard case. *_She_* had it coming. It was a murder but not a crime? Not in this case; it was a crime, but not a murder. More like self-defense, or at the very least, defeating a villain. Free Gypsy Rose. She doesn't belong in prison. It's Dee Dee's own fault
ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE PERFORMANCES IN GLEE.
no❤️
Lucy Merriman yes
Malibu dude no
Lucy Merriman lammeeeeeee
Carlyle Cruz SAMEE
Is no one going to talk about Tina's part?!?! She killed it!!

it's the *phooohp* for me 😍
0:37
I get their point on it’s not exactly “fitting” of the theme...but *cmon!* the performance was GREAT!
I agree
YESSSSSSS
one of my favourite
Yes it was great performance but they unfortunately did not get the brief
My sexuality is Santana saying scissero
How do I like this multiple times
Lucina Parson FRRR
LMFAO THIS IS SENDING ME
if i could retweet a comment, i would
I never really paid attention to who was saying it but knowing it’s her is really something else
Santana is one of the reasons I’m gay.
So is Mercedes.
So is Brittany.
So is sugar.
And every girl in this song.
And every girl in the original.
And every girl.
Basically what I’m saying is I’m gay
Gotchya😂
Same🥵
You mentioned everyones name except tina
Oh really, I didn’t notice
sugar is the reason I am gay, no doubt about it
When coach Roz is calling you out and says what you’ve done was inappropriate, you done bad.
If Roz calls you out you done f*cked up
@@joshwhyatt5540 especially when Roz and sue are on the same page.
@Caleb Mayfield Someone that cares more about the message than the way it’s conveyed .
Can we just take the time too appreciate Mike and Rory
I did not realize that was Rory damn
@@tarae6587 omg same
most of us are here for the girls but like *pan panic*
Rory was here?
Oh wait was Rory the one who ran into Santanas knife 10 times?
Rory was one of my favorites 🥺😭
He was underrated change my mind
Anyone else rewind to hear Sugar and her "lipshitz"?
I know I did❤
What is lipsgiz
Ruby Bevan idk. It’s part of the original song and sugar says that part
I love it so much
Ruby Bevan in the original song they explain. it’s basically that last name of the person that she killed in the chicago (the musical)
SUGAR IS SO CUTE AND HER VOICE IS EXTREMELY UNDERRATED
i love her speaking voice, its so cute
The only time you can here her backup vocals are in this song. Wish she recorded more
The writers barely included her
If it wasn't for her then there would be no trouble tones
They just got rid of her!!!! :(
@Caleb Mayfield because her dad made the troubletones
Because she couldn't join the one directions
Too bad Quinn was in a wheelchair during this because she would’ve been gorgeous in this
i thought the same thing!!!
Right
When Santana said Cicero it was so hot who agrees
most definitely
Absolutely
oh good im not the only one
Omfg yes
I miss Naya, She helped me to leave the closet and discover myself bisexual and I will always remember her with great affection
*Sugar* is low-key my favourite voice in this song
the thought behind this song isn’t good but the song itself it’s AMAZING
Failed the lesson but nail the performance
Mercedes looks so pretty
I agree with coach slyvester and coach roz on cell block tango song glee club girls made coach beist upset
Me too but decontextualised from the situation, they killed this song
This is exceptionally good
“how is that supposed to help”
me: real women kill the husbands
I wish it was longer so we could hear brittany and sugars parts
The studio versions are complete
👀 My gawd Naya 😍😍😍
Carmen Wright 🥺😭
both of youu
Honestly 😭
Rip❤️
And that... My dear friends... Is why I am questioning my sexuality.
Right😅😳
@Delilah Mechell omggg... I'm dead
oh honey... been there, done that. I'm sure not a single gay/bi woman has ever watched Glee because of its plot. It always gotta be because of Santana OR any other Glee girl hahaha
This was such a powerful scene for Shannon

@@bigblobofnothing5727 Exactly my thoughts! Like u said, not to be transphobic, it just wasn't a good storyline at all lol
artist 252 I don’t think anyone agreed with that story line lmao
The one moment Sue and Roz actually were on the same side.
i’m so obsessed rn
He ran into my knife ten times 🤭
this was a really inappropriate song to sing for this situation like i can only imagine what coach beiste was feeling, but god i love watching this scene it's honestly one of the best performances and i'm just so gay
I could sell my soul to the devil to see this live with naya alive
Same
Now I want to hear Amber Riley sing ‘When you’re good to mama’. She would absolutely murder that song.
Six married murderess
Me: But there only four
Because those were the four who joked about domestic violence so those 4 had to do the assignment
That’s what I pointed out!!!
im sure im not the only one who finds brittany hot in this right??
I always find her hot
She has always been attractive to me 😂
Watching because of Naya/ Santana 💚#obsessed #Santanaismyfavorite
i wish this song was performed under different circumstances cause this performance SLAPS but it also sucks cause you feel so bad for beiste :(
I really wish we could have heard sugar sing more because you can hear her voice in certain parts of the song
Santana: "cicero"
Me: 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
2:15 Brittany 😍😍
Yes lawd her and Santana my goodness 😍😍
My fav song of all glee songs
Hardest working cast I’ve ever seen!
Coach Roz part was my favorite because it super true what she is saying
Literally ✨r a i l m e✨
I call this one the illegal version. Why? *they are in high school*
My high school had a production with this performance in it. It was... questionable.
@@ashtroprojection and what does that have to do with anything? Nothing. And all the teachers should basically be in jail lol
Cell block tango
From then on Cell Block Tango's description was "crazy women in their panties killing their men for chewing gum" lol
It’s such an epic performance why couldn’t we get this in literally any other context so I can enjoy it more 😔
Tinas voice is so cute
ive watched this like ten times just to hear sugar oml
Naya Riveira ♥✊🌷
Catra :(
Nene going off on them made my day.
Santana looks gorgeous
I honestly think they did a better job than the original "Cell Block Tango"
2:12 Sugar full on threw her chair whilst everyone else slides it😆
i feel bad for coach Beaste
This performance and toxic is the reason why I’m gay

I wish they did the full song
