    I did this timing belt, water pump and tensioner replacement yesterday. It was totally doable! Took my about 5 hours but I was really taking my time and documenting the process. In my case I actually didn't need to remove the alternator. But other than that I followed this video exactly. Thank you for this upload. Great video. Also I would recommend anyone doing this type of work to purchase a Bentley manual def helps as a reference for torque values etc.

    Great video! Harbor Freight represent!! (except for the snap-on torque wrench ;-) ... for those asking, this is a 2.0L / 4-cylinder, better known as a 2.slow.
    Yes, Jetta's still use timing belts... except for the 1.8 TSI and GLI?
    Really great production quality.

    Great job dude. Used a Continental Pro Plus with the metal impeller... went super.
    But total foot pound on the engine support please... rough estimate would be fine.

    Thank you to this awesome mechanic and team at TRQ!!! This video helped me install my timing belt on my 2015 base model (manual) Jetta 2.0. The only thing I did different was not remove the alternator which saved time for sure. (I only needed to remove the top bolt of the alt' in order to remove that power steering fluid bracket which also locks in the serpentine belt tensioner.)

    Great how to. But the motor mount bolts should be replaced because they are stretch bolts.

    Just want to thank you so much for providing this video. I was able to complete the timing belt and water pump removal and installation. Just took the car out for a test run and it sounds so much better, one thing I would have loved to have seen is how to install the crank & cam seal... What are your thoughts on that becoming an issue, I also watch the Scottykilmer channel he recommends AT 205 reseal. which I'm going to start using since I didn't change the seal, do you have any thoughts about that idea?
    I currently have no leaks with almost 190,000 mi. Timing belt had several teeth missing, I was lucky that things did not become worse,! Local shops were charging- 3200-3800 in Texas😬

    Is 1 hour and 11 minutes what an experienced mechanic should take doing this job or was the video edited (shortened)?

    I have a 2014 vwjetta se 1..8 turbo and my engine is different than the one you are working on. I don’t think you really need to remove the alternator or coolant hose.
    The antifreeze comes out through the water pump hole anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I think the moral of this video is "Never buy a Volkswagen" - they're engineered to bust all your knuckles and maximize mechanic time on the most basic repairs.

  • @edward1927
    @edward1927 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm sure its a nice video but an engine size in the title would be useful. Not what I'm looking for. Guess you get more clicks though.
