Shoutout Michael for real. This was his “Senna saving Erik Comas” moment

100%, I'll always respect the drivers who step up in moments like this, no matter the outcome, it's always commendable.

Schumi the GOAT! I remember reading how deeply Senna's death in particular effected him, with the loss of Senna - arguably the last of his generation of legendary drivers that included Prost, Mansell and Patrese, he had to step up as one of the senior drivers on the grid advocating for driver safety despite still being relatively young at the time and he would go on to help improve safety through the HANS device among other precautionary introductions during his career

      ....Patrese??

@@1greenMitsi held the record for most race starts for almost 2 decades and was a prominent driver of his era racing with teams at the front of the grid.

@@TheAlphaDingo.... So? If you include patrese with senna prost and mansell, where does it stop? You'd have to include barrichello, coulthard, trulli, webber. Longevity dosent make a 'legend'... Ru sure you didnt mean piquet? I mean odd that you would include a dude that raced at the front but was always beaten by his teammate yet didn't include a 3x world champ

    • @TheAlphaDingo
      @TheAlphaDingo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@1greenMitsi ridiculous logic. This is the elite of the elite of motor racing. Over 6 billion people in the world and less than 800 have ever driven in F1. You sneer at longevity as if it's a bad thing but if you have the record for most race starts for nearly 20 years, you clearly have supreme driving talent compared to almost everyone else on the planet and are worthy of being mentioned in the upper echelons of the sport. Whether you like it or not, Patrese is one of the most famous drivers from his generation. He would easily be in the first 5-8 drivers any racing fan would recite when asked to name drivers from the 80s-early 90s. As I said in my original comment, when he retired, he was clearly considered a senior veteran and stalwart of the grid; hence the creation of a gulf of senior drivers leaving the sport and subsequently for the younger generation to then step into.

@@TheAlphaDingo lmao ridiculous logic and goes on to include the population of the earth to justify Patrese as a legend???? thats enough asininity for 1 day
diude , get your head checked. When discussing F1, the scope is.....Formula 1......not the whole fcking world 😂 Lewis Hamilton = Legend
Bottas - who also drove an all conquering Mercedes is not
      Verstappen - Legend
      Perez - (insert bottas example)
Same with Patrese. Its quite simple really

One Track Mind with Rusty and Up Front with Foges from 2017 were godsends of interview series. I learned so much detail about what goes on behind the scenes and what these guys had experienced.
JC's junior history amongst other Supercars drivers who tried to get into F1, sometimes it's not so bad to miss out.
Great video. Well made. Love your work.
I think ending up at Red Bull might be a stretch, but he could have ended up at Williams replacing Montoya. But he had to win the F3000 championship or win races in it.

    • @peggles__

I think Red Bull wasn’t unlikely, he would’ve likely been with the Jaguar team, with just years before they become Red Bull, he very well could’ve been in Webbers position.
It’s all guesswork mostly, it didn’t happen, but you never know.

What a horrible event! So glad he was able to find his racing "home" and do well - he deserved. There isn't always a lot of discussion about the aftermath of serious crashes and their effects on the drivers! Good on ya James!

I think we need to have more discussions on not just the physical impacts of having a big crash like this, but also mental and emotional issues that can arise.
Its important and interesting to tell these stories, hopefully there is something to be learned from it.

Premat went off into the grass through the very high speed turn 3. Being unable to pull the car up, he hit Courtney as the field we’re going through the slow turn 4 hairpin. Courtney was extremely lucky given that Premat’s car actually got airborne just before impact and Courtney’s car took the brunt of the impact on the drivers door. With the drivers side crushed and Courtney unable to extract himself, Premat assisted him out via the passenger side.

I reckon he would have come to race in Supercars anyway, perhaps for Triple Eight via the Red Bull connections if he had stayed with Jaguar/Red Bull Racing. Though if James Courtney would have had an F1 career, what would have happened to Mark Webber? Would he have gone back to Mercedes to race in DTM? Or would he have been McLaren's reserve driver who'd replace Montoya in 2006? Lots of funny what if-scenarioes!

You obviously don't know much. Anyone who wins International karting championships and British Formula Ford is a proper talent. For example, the bloke who won the next years Junior Karts was Alonso. Names who came through the Juniors when it was revived as a series include, Verstappen, Albon, Leclerc, Hubert. Beforehand, Schneider, Modena and a little French fellow by the name of Prost.
