I actually don't understand. Many videos I see about Japan is a country where you have to socialize at work. Have lunch and dinner with co-workers. Happy hour is mandatory and you work a lot of hours, barely having any time alone in your home.
shadooplucy She strikes me as very much a Perceiving > Judging, as does Jun. I'm curious why you think she's J? She's very open-minded and unassuming, and doesn't strike me as an orderly-type. I could see how she comes off as very "Fe" sometimes (if you're familiar with the functions underlying the types), but that's one of the reasons I actually suspect she may be Ti/Ne/Si/Fe (INTP). Jun is very likely the same - either INFP or INTP, but I don't know either well enough to say for certain. I'm confident on the I, N, and P parts, just not the T/F. By the way, as for the Myers-Briggs assessment, I find that results are biased in favor of J>P and I>E (so P's often get J as a result, and E's often get I), so I wouldn't trust it too much. The best way to identify yourself, or someone else, is to have a solid understanding of the psychological functions and try to avoid arbitrary descriptions of what a particular type is. I used to be under the impression that I was INTJ, for instance, before digging deeper into it and discovering that I'm definitely INTP, not J -- the functions being very different (Ti Ne Si Fe versus Ni Te Fi Se).
***** I don't think she's a J, I believe she's said it herself before. My first thought was INFP as well but I know some INFJs who are lovely! She's open minded but very persistent about her stances, very justice-like, so that can come off as J. As for Thinking, I really don't see that in her - her opinions on things are very feeling-based and emotionally driven, if you've seen her rant-like videos. Jun, however, I could see him being an INTP, but that could be because of the stoic impression I get from him (not to say INFPs can't be stoic but I think their feelings show a tad more) in the older vids. Comments used to (although rudely I might add) call him a "robot" which is a usual stereotype on Thinker types. You may be right as lots of people get mistyped, that's why usually further research is necessary. I myself consistently get INFP on tests but believe I could be ISFP. Also a lot of this is just based on gut feelings. And sorry Rachel if you see this and it's like we're talking about someone in the room while they're there.
Many points you touched on are so so so on point! The whole being an enthusiastic, energetic teacher for young children really drains you as more or less introverted person. I am definitely not suited for such work as an introvert. Also, changing how one speaks to suit the level of the class for low-level learners was also very hard for me at first.
OH WOW . I just did that test on the link. It was a real eye opener and very very very close to who I am. I have never felt right and this told me literally every single inner struggle. I got "The Logician". Thanks for the tip it really helpful.
Just discovered the channel---thanks for having courage to discuss this topic. As you indicated--the negative connotations for us introverts need to start being dispelled.
INFP! I need a lot of alone time but spending meaningful time with close friends and having in depth conversations is important for me too. I find I get drained by small talk and hanging out in large groups.
I'm introverted. I'm happy spending my time alone at home, having 1 good friend and doing my own things. But with that comes anxiety. Many situations make me really anxious. For example, having to travel somewhere by myself that I have never been to before, meeting new people and also I'm job searching right now and the thought of it makes me really anxious. :( Also... I get sick of my mum asking me what's wrong. I have a "resting bitch face" where I usually look grumpy even though I'm not. 😂 It sucks but I can't change it
I'm so feeling you.... I'm always being stressful or getting anxious when I don't even need to. I mean I tell to myself " relax, everything is alright, look at other people " etc. etc. but it still doesn't help. Even if I understand that it's wrong I can't control it. Sometimes it gets very annoying and tiring that I can't behave normally :/ For example I feel uncomfortable being in a crowded places, that includes restaurants, cafes, cinema and other places. I can't even relax while eating there lol >_< sometimes my heart starts beating so much that I think I'm gonna die. I think these are panic attacks or something... I only feel good with close friends, family members or alone.
Don't wanna be mean but that's very much not being an introvert. The first part is but the anxiety is very much not part of it, you should see a specialist about that.
I love how you presented both the advantages and the disadvantages of being an introvert! I have a hard time explaining myself to other people so what you said would greatly help me the next time I'd encounter people who'd ask why I am so quiet and withdrawn. Thanks Micaela! I'm an INFP-T and it's been consistent ever since. Been following you since 2010. I'm looking forward to your videos and more power!
Thank you for the link and clarification on introverts! I can identify with your feelings about Japan being more suitable for introverts. I grew up in the US, and my first time to Japan, I felt so a home for the first time in my life... After taking the test on your link, I'm more introverted than extroverted (no surprise). However, I was surprised by the other results about myself!
oh wow that test is eerily accurate! and i can totally relate to how being an introvert in japan is kinda nice. especially when you live in a big city.
Thank you for this video, Micaela! I've been watching your videos since you first started your channel and have seen you come such a long way! I'm really glad you brought up the types of teaching jobs that would suit an introvert better because I'm about apply for position in Japan right now, and feel really drained when I have to have "high energy" or prolonged contact with people every day. Like you said, we just need time to recharge our batteries before we can feel up to it again. When I visited Japan I really appreciated how people kept to themselves because I didn't feel like people were trying to get into my comfort zone all the time. Also I'm an INFJ :D
YES! I love the Susan Cain reference in the description section. Her book "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" by is AMAZING! I actually got to meet her at a book greet and got my copy signed. Have you read it Micaela? It literally changed my whole perspective on what it meant to be introverted. It gave me an even greater appreciation of myself. It is such a quintessential book for any introverts out there!
Thanks for sharing this personality test, Micaela! According to it I am a Mediator (more precisely a turbulent intuitive introvert) and I totally found myself in their explanations. I see this video a little late... I've watched others in between so I can wish you a good stay in Aya :) Good luck with your work!
I think being an introvert got easier as an adult than as a teenager as well. Everyone has their own stuff going on and naturally there's less of an expectation of being energetic, out there and social all the time. on the subject of teaching, I taught English as a second language to children in Portugal and I totally agree that it is so draining for an introvert to teach several large classes. Even though it can be amazing. for like... a couple hours. then I'm dead forever
I grew up in China and I felt great there as an introvert, but then I moved to the south of Europe and been struggling ever since. The people here expect you to be very social and outgoing, get along with everyone and all I want to do his stay home and for them to let me be. I got Advocate on the test, it was like someone took a look into my soul and wrote down everything. Thank you for sharing this with us :)
Hi Micaela, I did the personality test as well. It said I was the mediator type. After reading it I felt like, for the first time, someone finally got who I am, even I didn't know me. I just want to thank you for sharing this. It really helpt me at the right time. 😊
Thank you! As an introvert, it feels good to hear that I'm not antisocial, just someone who doesn't want to be around people 24/7. And I know the feeling of feeling drained after being around people for an extended period of time. I'm so glad I found your channel, because your videos are interesting and informative. (^-^)
Man, I got bullied so bad in the JET program for being an introvert :( but I'm like a introvert/extrovert. I'm outgoing but I need a push to get out. Haha
I'm generally introverted, I do like my private time at home and the ability to roam about my home city and explore. But as I've gotten older I realize that's cost me a lot as far as having close friends. I had to accept the fact that I get almost painfully lonely a lot, and need to have some good friends that I can talk to about anything. So recently I've been putting myself out there in more social situations where I have to reach out to other people and make connections with them. That bond is what's been missing from my life and it's stunted my personal growth. Thank you for the video. Japan is a place I've always wanted to visit, and it seems like somewhere I'd enjoy without feeling too much like an outsider.
Love this! I'm an introvert in Japan, and it just seems like I fit here. I had so much trouble in America. I also love how you mention Meyers-Briggs. I'm a psych student, and that test changed my life and the way I communicate with others. Very good. I'm ISFJ.
Took the quiz and I'm an adventurer, introvert. I knew I'm an introvert before and it gave me a little more insight on who I am. It explained that I am an artist and in reality, I am a professional artist. Proud to be who I am!
i'm an introvert and right now i'm studying to be an english teacher. i love english andearning people new things but standing in front of a lot of people terrifies me and i feel like it would drain me very quickly. watchi g your video really helped me feel better and more condident as to what more i could do if i have my degree, so thank you for that :)
Yay introverts! ISTJ-A (logistician) for myself. I find from my various travels in Japan that it is definitely a country best suited for introverts. Even in big cities, you can find random bits of quiet areas so you can get your own quiet time. Probably one of the biggest draws for me for spending more time there.
Love the video and your videos in general. Most of the times I feel like you're talking about what I feel in daily life or might feel in Japan, thats awesome! I am INFJ.
This is such a great video! I've watched the Ted Talk given by Susan Cain as well. Recently, I've gotten her book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. Time for Jasmine Tea and a good read. Have a blessed day
Introverted and trending to hermit : ). Love the drained battery analogy, I'm not anti-social, but it is draining. I actually found that being comfortable with your own company an asset during my visits to Japan where I was spending long days out-and-about without even the ability to speak to anyone. On a slight down side, I am also uncomfortable being the centre of attention which is a little inevitable when you are a little off the beaten track and are the only red headed foreigner around. Can't wait for the next trip. Have been studying Japanese and can now confidently tell someone that yes, that is a pen.
I'm INFP and I feel like the description is so true to me. I still don't fully accept who I am, and wish I had more energy to be social but I'm trying! Great video, hopefully I will fit in, in Japan! haha
Omg you bring up such a good point. I'm an introvert as well and I have a hard time finding people I can connect with. But then I'm on the Internet and I find so many people with similar interests and values and I'm like, why can't I find people like that irl? But when you mentioned all the introverts on the Internet I was like, oh yeah, that's why haha. I tend to be infj or infp... The last letter is so close sometimes they flip back and forth depending on the day...
I'm an INFP-A Mediator personality type... which I think is pretty accurate to how I think, I was actually surprised at how true the description is. I think there's nothing wrong with being an introvert, I actually like that about myself and when you said that Japan is a good fit for introverts, it made me want to live there even more to get away from people trying to force me to be extroverted when I don't particularly want to.
I'm an introvert also! You should read the book called Quite or an introvert in an extroverted world. :) Also some introverts can be extremely out going and love being with people, yet like you said we need to recharge on our own. This is what I'm like :p
Hey fellow Canadian, love your insightful video here. I’m an INFJ-T! Glad to learn about your experience as an introvert in Japan. I personally feel that Japan is the most suitable or go-to place for introverts like me. I also naturally and instinctively pick up the energy of many people as an empath, and so meeting others who are just like me would probably be a dream haha
I'm introverted too. I get tired after interacting with people for an extended amount of time. Also, the drinking parties, they don't require you to drink do they? I don't drink nor do I ever want to. if you go, can you drink water instead?
I can totally relate with all that you said! I'm so introverted and don't like hang out with ppl who I don't really get along with. As you said, I have a lot of friends that I trust and it's so much fun to hang out with them because I can be myself. But I don't wanna go to the party(It's called うちあげ kinda thing)Because there are many people that I don't have chemistry with. I'm glad that you have on the same page! You don't have to be something you're not. Be yourself! Oh, I was so ecstatic when you followed me back on Twitter!:)It was one of the best days of my life! Thanks! だいすき!性格診断やってみます!
Haven't taken the test again in a while, so I'm gonna do that again, see if I've changed at all. This video speaks so strongly to my soul. I'm extremely introverted, but like you, can appear highly extroverted when I'm in my comfort bubble. Knowing that Japan is a fairly introverted environment, has always been a draw there for me. Haaaate living in America.
Oh my, I'm so happpy to find out that you're into the MBTI! I've been obsessed with it in the last months and while you were talking I was thinking "She should take the MBTI test, maybe I'll write it in the comments" and then... BOOM you already did! I'm an INFP anyway (totally INFP, no doubts ahah).
I'm a Brit, and where I'm from specifically is a city famous for Robin Hood. Either way, culturally we're similarly introverted--it's pretty much in our etiquette. Although in school and the workplace, it's very extrovert-centric. It's definitely frustrating how introversion and shyness are often confused or seen as mutually inclusive. LIke you, I'm not shy. But being an INTJ-A (probably one of the most reserved types next to INFJs)--I've often been mislabeled as shy. Bailing out of parties or other social gatherings at the last minute? Yep, guilty of that in the past. Although I've learned how to better balance things out over the years, prepare myself before hand, recognise social hangovers and how to recover. So it's something I do less of these days.
I'm with you but there's also the fact that a lot of people who call themselves introverts are actually just plain socially awkward but call themselves introverts has created a misinformation on what it means.
Wow what an important video! I think your observation that it's easier to be an introvert in Japan is true reflecting on my personal experience too. In the US, media culture favors extroversion I read somewhere - while in other cultures, for example in Northern Europe films, leading roles can be much less extroverted. I also think your point about the effect of self-labeling does indeed make a difference. It's like they perceive you as self-reporting an illness lol. I learned that it's better to not self-label like that, now that I see its impact much clearer. People often don't know the meaning of introversion based on the original, Jungian archetypal psychology. Just like you say, introversion does not mean shy, anti-social, weak, having low self-esteem, lacking leadership skills, lacking social skills, lacking skills in presentations, sad/depressed or never energetic. If they want to know what it really means, they can look it up lol. When some people don't enjoy parties, it can be because they like to be productive, like to be doing something even more fun, or even think they don't enjoy getting stupid (or herd mentality) maybe, not because they're shy. Micaela's observations always seem to be spot on, deep, and really helpful for us to understand each other more. I love it. Congratulations on your 11th year in Japan!! What an achievement!! A true senpai!!!
I'm exactly the same... in public (but still within my comfortzone) energetic, humorous, motivated, like a roly-poly doll public (outside comfortzone) silent, watching, anaylyzing, doubtful at home also analyzing, relaxed but also energetic, preparing, doing the things I really care for...
Thank you!!I really hate when people use the word introvert as something negative, it is just a character trait. I love being introverted now, but I hated myself throughout high school for that.
I'm introvert sometimes and extrovert sometimes. I have like two people going on. It's exhausting. :( I want to socialize and hangout...but at the same time I love being alone in my room. I need to start uploading more videos and socializing while still being in my room hahaha.
For me as an introvert the thing that's draining is keeping track of other people's state of mind. So alone time is easy. Going out with one person is a challenge but rewarding. Groups are really hard - too many minds. But crowds are easy, since I'm not expected to keep track of their minds. I love being anonymous in crowds.
INFP-A "Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type - but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration." Wow. That's pretty spot on :) Particularly in the end there, I've got a friend who I feel have a similar personality, and when I'm with him I enjoy myself so much. They say only 4% of the population are like us, but I see so many comments here of people who are INFP, that I think we all really like Micaela's videos :)
Happy 11th Japanniversary! I'm an INFP, -A/-T (Mediator). Apparently just 4% of the population have this type? Always fun seeing how the descriptions fit.
Oh, I'm the same! An INTP :) I recently found my high school results and I was INFP, but I feel like the description for INTP matches my personality more closely.
I'm INTJ! I think introversion is often misunderstood as being a recluse/never going anywhere or not having friends, no matter how you try to explain it. One thing I do wonder though, do you find it more difficult to make (Japanese) friends in Japan? I feel like it might be harder to connect with people beyond an "acquaintance" level if most people are private or keep to themselves.
This sentences was gold and totally hilarious: "I think the life of a party is not the end goal of humanity" 100% agreed. I am an introvert too, but I am always amazed how many introverts express themselves through a camera at TH-cam. That's why I love Japan, they value the introvert type of person, although they might expect you to be loud and noisy and crazy since you and me look like foreigners. Did you experience this situation? That you didn't fit in the Japanese expectations of a foreigner? I can imagine how difficult it must be to live in north america specially in the US as an introvert - a culture where being outgoing and doing crazy stuff is being regarded as the only way to go.
Im an INFJ and it has helped me a lot to aknowledge that Im an introvert, and that its ok to not talk all the time. I used to beat myself up mentally for not being able to join conversations like "everyone else". Fortunately its common to be reserved in my culture. Good f you to shed a light on this subject!
I'm a -A /-T Mediator , this test is really accurate and I was surprized to read this much info abt my personality that actually made sense ! I was nodding yesss all the time XD . Thnx for sharing Micaela ;)
Always nice to see a new video of yours, you're a big inspiration to me generally as an aspiring jvlogger (though I'm waiting for the right time to make my first video.) I think I'm something of a social introvert. Especially living in Japan, I try to go and do as much as I possibly can with whoever I can for the most part, because it allows me to get to know them better and there's no telling how many years I'll be living in Japan, so I should do as much as I can, though sometimes I feel like I rely on others too much to determine whether or not I'll go out and do things, including errands sometimes, and I feel like that level of dependency seems relatively extroverted and unhealthy in my case (I don't mean to make it sound like extroversion is unhealthy, because that's not the case, I just worded that weird.) Today actually I decided it would be better to do things on my own at times because others sometimes don't have the same interests as I do, and so I'm often unable to do things I want to do while out or I can't move at my own pace. For me in social situations it's more a feeling of I know what to do and say around people but I don't have the courage to do it, and that's what holds me back the most, so honestly I end up envying extroverted people, because of their ease around people and their skill with social situations, and of course it doesn't help that extroversion tends to be favored in many aspects of American and I'm sure Canadian society. Japan is nice in that people do keep to themselves like you mentioned, but I think sometimes it can also create a wall or a barrier that makes it difficult to make social connections in Japan, and I thought maybe that's one reason drinking is so popular here, maybe because it acts as a kind of "liquid courage" that allows people to break down those barriers if only a little, likely at enkais like you mentioned. I will be a teacher and I'm sure it will be draining, and that worries me, but I hope I can muster enough energy on a daily basis to make it fun. I've taken the personality test many times and gotten different results virtually every time, even when answering honestly, it's likely due to my changing view of myself and my life, so I'm somewhat skeptical of it, but I lately I got ENFP and I think it suits me.
Japanese society is definitely well suited for introverts. I always hate the idea of work parties, but when I get there and start to interact with people, I end up having a great time. Usually.
Hi Micaela, Been in Japan a year now (Yokohama). I'm definitely an introvert but I'm perfectly comfortable with it at this point in my life. I'm 34 now. In my 20's I experienced all the clubbing and so forth but once I hit 30 I just had no use for it anymore. I totally agree with you though in that we don't despise social interaction the way people think.
To be fair, nowadays there's way too many people who say they're introverted but are actually just socially akward. I'm pretty introverted but I just meet so many people who say the same but then are unable to socialize which is a shame because they could really use the help.
HI Micaela: Would you consider making a video about vague Japanese conversations & gestures that you observed when you guess it wrong and right ? Sounds interesting!
Little sister, you shared many good words in this video. I am an introvert, but I refer to it as being a "Home-Body." I was in the Air Force for 20 years and supervised hundreds of students and instructors. I have been a pastor for 11 years. Being an introvert did not prevent me from doing a good job in either position. You, being young, and putting this out on TH-cam will help young people who are introverts and asking themselves, is there something wrong with me?" Maybe we could start a club - with meetings no one attends! haha
I actually saw you in Tenjin one time. I didn't say hi because I didn't want to be rude and bother you. I feel the same exact way about being an American. Here in the States, I noticed people tended to be uncomfortable around me growing up because I am an introvert. Unless I'm super outgoing with people, I was labeled as antisocial and weird. In Japan, I actually felt more comfortable to be myself and it allowed me to open up without someone trying to force it out of me. However, I would be really uncomfortable in Japan for being constantly stared at. Feeling like there are eyes on me really got to me after a while. So, I liked the fact that people didn't mind that I am introverted but the constant staring made me paranoid. I'm actually looking to go back to Japan, but I think I can find better ways to cope while I'm out in public.
Fellow introvert here and what a coincidence, I'm also celebrating my 11th in Japan! ...11th month =P Unfortunately that also means I have only 1 more left until my WH visa expires... coming from a non english speaking country, getting your foot in the door isn't that easy... but staying on topic, being an introvert here in jp is waaay easier than in europe.
I'm also an INTP, and a huge introvert! I think that learning more about psychology and personality type has actually allowed me to better understand and accept myself, as well as understand and get along with other people. I used to think that I should grow myself by learning to/forcing my self to be more outgoing, and I created a lot of anxiety for myself trying to be this way. I would compare myself to others who have traits that I look up to, and wonder why I can't be that way. But, I've found that this isn't a healthy way of thinking; it's better to know yourself, and focus on your strengths, and accepting and being comfortable with who you are. By thinking this way, I removed a lot of pressure and anxiety that I was needlessly burdening myself with, and I'm able to be more comfortable and confident now, and just relax and be myself around people. As a result, I'm more social and get along better with people without trying. I think that we can often get caught up in the trap of striving too hard, thinking that to be the answer, when the real answer is to just understand and accept things, and strive less.
Hey Micaele, Howz it going ? This is the second time I am leaving a comment on TH-cam. I just found your channel and yup I am a person interested in Japan !! I must say, your videos are enjoyable. I loved how you differentiated between an introvert and a shy person :-) I do not have difficulty in talking to people. I remember once not so long ago, I told my friend that I am an Introvert she was like 'pleasseeeeeeee...u an intorvert ??' and I was like - 'I am an Introvert but I am not shy !!!!!'. Till that point she had the impression that both were the same, guess I opened her mind a little :-) I took the test and I am an INFP-T - the Mediator :-) !!!
I am an introvert and am that way for many cautious reasons. Antisocial behavior personality disorder is what I have been diagnosed with at a very early age! It doesn't matter what country you live in because too many evil people are all around you period! I can't handle stress of any social situations outside the home situation where I feel safe from society and the world in general! I am not saying that it's a crutch in any way, but a blessing in disguise, keeping me out of the wicked mindedness of this evil world with all the problems that come of it, evil agendas, plans and so on!
“THE ADVOCATE” (INFJ-A). Related to the TED talk you mentioned in the description, I've read her book "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" and I thought it was a great book on the struggles and benefits of being an introvert.
I find it quite interesting that many popular youtubers, if not most of them, are actual shy and introverted in real life, and it's mostly because they all seem so very extroverted on the screen.
Supposedly, at this moment this channel has 294 videos. There used to be an idol duo called Tsukushi 294. The number of the Japanese contact in the "You Only Live Twice" Bond movie was 294.
Introverters of the world! Let's unite ! Oh wait,... rather not....
lol
Introverted Procrastinator's also unite!
But like, tomorrow or something.
lets unite! in our rooms... by ourselves =3
We can unite! Let's just be chill about it.
I so wish I could come but I've just come down with a fever :[ Rain check? Lol introvert life
I think Japan is a huge magnet for all the introverts in the world.
Many of my introvert friends used to love Japanese culture.
So true!
I actually don't understand. Many videos I see about Japan is a country where you have to socialize at work. Have lunch and dinner with co-workers. Happy hour is mandatory and you work a lot of hours, barely having any time alone in your home.
This is my life
Pls Give us your MBTI :P
I'm also quite curious ;)
I'm guessing INTP/INFP?
Rachel is INFJ if I'm not mistaken! It suits her perfectly. I don't know about Jun.
shadooplucy She strikes me as very much a Perceiving > Judging, as does Jun.
Thanks for the tip it really helpful.
i had fun taking that test, thanks. thought it was insightful.
Just discovered the channel---thanks for having courage to discuss this topic. As you indicated--the negative connotations for us introverts need to start being dispelled.
Omedetou! Wow 11 years, really admirable! Best of the wishes Micaela!
Also... I get sick of my mum asking me what's wrong. I have a "resting bitch face" where I usually look grumpy even though I'm not. 😂 It sucks but I can't change it
I bet your face looks like your Avatar. :p
+blackice7317 😂 Sometimes!
+aR0ttenBANANA96 I actually am seeing a psychologist. I didn't explain everything about myself obviously.
Me too are a logician! Thanks for the video and the fun test.
Congradulations on your Japanniversary!!!!
Thank for the test link!
Thank you so much for making this video.
とっても共感しました!
really love this video and ted which attached it!
oh wow that test is eerily accurate! and i can totally relate to how being an introvert in japan is kinda nice. especially when you live in a big city.
I've watched others in between so I can wish you a good stay in Aya :)
Good luck with your work!
Ya I totally feel the same way
Portuguese introvert over here!
Sorry, i get a little too excited when someone mentions my country hahaha

I grew up in China and I felt great there as an introvert, but then I moved to the south of Europe and been struggling ever since. The people here expect you to be very social and outgoing, get along with everyone and all I want to do his stay home and for them to let me be. I got Advocate on the test, it was like someone took a look into my soul and wrote down everything. Thank you for sharing this with us :)
Hi Micaela,
I did the personality test as well. It said I was the mediator type. After reading it I felt like, for the first time, someone finally got who I am, even I didn't know me. I just want to thank you for sharing this. It really helpt me at the right time. 😊
I am Indonesian. I am an introvert.
日本にすんでいるのがだいすき
Thank you! As an introvert, it feels good to hear that I'm not antisocial, just someone who doesn't want to be around people 24/7. And I know the feeling of feeling drained after being around people for an extended period of time. I'm so glad I found your channel, because your videos are interesting and informative. (^-^)
just watched the TED talks with susan cain. she is absolutely right.
I really love your energy on camera. Nice topic too. I think I am both, but I LOVE to have my alone time. I am like my best friend lol.
Man, I got bullied so bad in the JET program for being an introvert :( but I'm like a introvert/extrovert. I'm outgoing but I need a push to get out. Haha
Did you take the test? I wonder what your personality type is!
Oh my gosh, same here :( JETs are so extroverted and run a million events... It's exhausting
I'm with you sister.
Being introvert is good
I'm generally introverted, I do like my private time at home and the ability to roam about my home city and explore.
I am INFJ.
im an INTP too. makes sense why i love ur channel and personality
INTJA, Ty for posting this video and the link to the test.
I'm introverted too. I get tired after interacting with people for an extended amount of time. Also, the drinking parties, they don't require you to drink do they? I don't drink nor do I ever want to. if you go, can you drink water instead?
Yeah, and if they give you heck just say you're driving later, or you're pregnant. Haha.
I rarely drink too, If i do its just one drink. I Just don't want to drink because I'm not feeling good that day.
Hahaha your introvert face was so funny in this video! You're so expressive, that's awesome!
Nottingham?
I'm with you but there's also the fact that a lot of people who call themselves introverts are actually just plain socially awkward but call themselves introverts has created a misinformation on what it means.
+taoist40 - Yep!
+aR0ttenBANANA96 - There is that as well, and I've stumbled across such people in groups on Facebook.
Thanks for another great video! :D the personality I got was ESFJ - "the concul" it was pretty correct! A nice read!
A true senpai!!!
im an introvert as well. luckily i met other introverts like me in college. i was an illustration major and most of us are introverts.
I'm exactly the same...
in public (but still within my comfortzone) energetic, humorous, motivated, like a roly-poly doll
public (outside comfortzone) silent, watching, anaylyzing, doubtful
at home also analyzing, relaxed but also energetic, preparing, doing the things I really care for...
Thank you!!I really hate when people use the word introvert as something negative, it is just a character trait. I love being introverted now, but I hated myself throughout high school for that.
I am an INFP personality type.
Thank you for your videos they are a big help! I arrived in Japan only two months ago! 😊
Can't wait seeing you as a youtube singer-song-writer artist.
INFP-A
"Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type - but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration."
Wow.
I loved Susan Cain's TED Talk also. I think her observations are much needed notions in society. I believe I am an INTJ, by the way. So says the test.
Usually.
Hi Micaela,
Been in Japan a year now (Yokohama).
Yes. I'm INTP also. Interesting to know your impressions of Japan as an INTP.
totally agree 〜this made me figure out im also an introvert when you said i dont go out on purpose to expand my friend circle on purpose
To be fair, nowadays there's way too many people who say they're introverted but are actually just socially akward. I'm pretty introverted but I just meet so many people who say the same but then are unable to socialize which is a shame because they could really use the help.
I really enjoyed this 診断
HI Micaela: Would you consider making a video about vague Japanese conversations & gestures that you observed when you guess it wrong and right ? Sounds interesting!
You have a really soothing voice.
infp, hard to find others with the same ;/
heeey! Fellow INFP here!
INFP here :)
infp here aswell!!
INFPowahhhh
Nice to know about your existence, guys (:
Little sister, you shared many good words in this video. I am an introvert, but I refer to it as being a "Home-Body." I was in the Air Force for 20 years and supervised hundreds of students and instructors. I have been a pastor for 11 years. Being an introvert did not prevent me from doing a good job in either position. You, being young, and putting this out on TH-cam will help young people who are introverts and asking themselves, is there something wrong with me?" Maybe we could start a club - with meetings no one attends! haha
very interesting topic!
Fellow introvert here and what a coincidence, I'm also celebrating my 11th in Japan! ...11th month =P
Unfortunately that also means I have only 1 more left until my WH visa expires... coming from a non english speaking country, getting your foot in the door isn't that easy... but staying on topic, being an introvert here in jp is waaay easier than in europe.
スーザンケインのスピーチ見たことあります!元気になれます!
Till that point she had the impression that both were the same, guess I opened her mind a little :-)
I took the test and I am an INFP-T - the Mediator :-) !!!
Psst. I like your room. You should record in there more. Also, props for blocking the light with the pillows. lol
Apparently I'm a Mediator personality (INFP, -A/-T). I already knew I was an introvert but it's always nice to see what kind. :)
Thanks Micaela,I agree with your opinion (I'm Japanese)
the test you introduced was so fascinating. My result was ISTP-T :-)
