Casey! Make the body flip up on a hinge like a funny car! Then you can get to the engine super easy and it would be nuts at a car show with the body up 😂
I had no idea Mitch McConnell was thinking about a mid-engine V-8 swapped 1990 Honda CRX. All this time I just thought he was having a stroke or seizure.
Three things. 1. Dry sump oil pan. May get the motor lower and possibly allow you to run the cross member under it giving you some movement forward if needed. 2. Parimiter frame. Run the frame out to the side along the rocker. Lets the floor pan be on the floor with the frame giving you more headroom. 3. Seat track do nit need to be on the bottom of the seat. Mount them anywhere on the side at most any angle and bracket them so the seat is tight to the floor. Or, separate seat bottom and velcro to the floor. Attach back to the roll bar with some sliding adjustability.
Before you do the floor you should get driveshaft in and run exhaust. Be a lot easier welding exhaust wit no floor. Easier to run brake lines get it all done then do the floor.. just a thought.
Why dont you run a LS with fuel injection? Would save space up top as no carb, valve covers are shorter, and run a car intake, and you can run a car oil pan and it wont hang way down
How come you didn't link in the front end push Motor ford I know you had a link in your fenders but it been easier and less motor inside the Interior cockpit were you set
If you wanted to reinforce the crossmember a little better, get rid of the crankshaft pulley so you can reinforce that crossmember where it was and just buy an electric water pump. If you need an alternator they make alternators that you can actually attach to the rear differential that will rotate with the axle. That way the alternator is charging the battery while you're driving.
What about factory injection off an old Camaro ❓ that would put the throttle body out front and allow you to snug it up as tight to the windshield as you want to . ✌🏼💚🙏🏼
Why don't you cut out that engine crossmember and build you one out or round bar tubing then you can move the motor down more and more forward and plus it will give you more of a better angle for your steering rack
This thing is a beast. I had a quick idea if you cut the front cross member out, move the motor forward, and use engine plates (can't think of the technical term) as a way to mount the motor and also as a cross member. Just a thought. By the way, coolest build on TH-cam. Absolutely LOVE IT Crx's are bad ass.
Front suspension is in the way to go that route. If you moved the engine far enough forward for the plate the weight distribution is all outta whack. minimal room for cooling as well
Why don't you weld like an upside down custom c notch. For where you're trying to accommodate for seats. Like weld it in then cut the frame. It'll keep everything squared. And then just cap where you cut the frame. Hope you get the idea.
Hi Casey try to source a Mugen Power pro 2 body kit for the cr-x. I believe wings west has some reproduction of that exact same body kit and it makes the car significantly look lower eventhough it really isn't.
At 11:01 you had a good shot of the engine and the cross member. With all of the forward area in front of the current location of the crossmember could you not relocate the main part of it forward and give you more room for the motor? I know you would need to add a beefier trans mount to stiffen the frame to compensate but this would give you even more room.
I could change the front crossmember out but in reality it doesn’t help me much. The engine currently is on the ground and can’t go anymore forward or the hood won’t close. Technically i could run a hood scoop but it would be a giant hood scoop and I’m not a big fan of that on such a little car
Instead of a rear mid engine sports car. It looks like it's gonna be a front-mid engine sports car, which is really good.....If I knew what I was doing and had some money. I'd like to move the engine a little more forward for easier service access. But still keep 3/4 the engine & it's weight behind the front wheel axle line & mount a manual gearbox in the back directly to rear differental. For great weight distribution, having more weight of the gearbox, rear diff & gas tank over rear wheels for more grip.....This CRX is gonna be awesome. Kinda also really like the idea of a lightweight high revving, high HP, Honda k24 turbo engine up front with RWD and rear mounted manual gearbox. In a lighweight CRX.
Thought. I notice the nuts on top. If by chance, bolt and nut come loose, the gravity would cause the bolt to fall out. Put bolt in from top. So if the nut becomes loose, the bolt will not fall out. Just thought. Love your channel!
Hi Casey in videos I’ve watched of this it doesn’t look like the frame is laid on the ground. If the frame is laid on ground especially the front it would give more room for the motor. Could be done with tubular a-arms or dehumping the factory arms.
Casey, it's so funny that when your working on the Honda, I always look over your shoulder to admire that SWEET '67 IMPALA, The Supernatural's "Baby". I can't keep my eyes 👀 off of it because it is so cool and mean, a perfect car!
Why don't you make a front cross member out of round tubing basically like the trans cross member you cut out then you can put the motor where you want
Casey, would you consider using the steering knuckles from a 3rd gen camaro? It has the same lower ball joint, spindle and brakes as the s10, but has a strut instead of upper control arm. That would allow you to put the motor forward all the way to the steering rack
You must run premium gas. In case you don’t,Crappy new gas has a lower boiling point and causes vapor lock. So a phenolic spacer is needed. So don’t forget that in the equation. I feel like you know all this tho. Love this build. Please do donuts in it when you’re finished.
Thats better. Was hoping to see u cut the whole S10 crsmber out, and replace w/rect. tube (on side) like mus., 11,? What about a drop tube piece joining ft. 4 bar/ cage base, side 2 side. Looks great!!! Izzy,,,,
PLEASE LIKE THE VIDEO! ALSO TELL ME WHAT CAR YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE NEXT VIDEO!!!
The blazer
Blazer and why don’t you just recline the seat back a little bit
Blazer!
❤❤❤ BLAZER
Haven't seen the Blazer in a bit!
Casey! Make the body flip up on a hinge like a funny car! Then you can get to the engine super easy and it would be nuts at a car show with the body up 😂
I said that a few videos back!😂🤙🏼
Probably should just to make it easier to work on lol😂
100%
…just don’t forget to lat..I mean put the pins in!😆
Pleaseeeee
I had no idea Mitch McConnell was thinking about a mid-engine V-8 swapped 1990 Honda CRX. All this time I just thought he was having a stroke or seizure.
Nope gotta give him a break he was day dreaming about hot rods like the rest of us. 🥴🤣
2:50 “That’s a little too crazy for me…” Casey said, while looking at a slammed,V8, RWD, custom framed, CRX…
🤣🤣
If you ran tubular upper A arms that might give you more room to move the motor forward. Just a thought.
Like a mustang 2 with tubulars, hella more room. Those uppers are chunky af
Love you including the crypt keeper monster McConnell lol
Every day im at the edge of my seat just waiting for the next crx vid. This car is amazing to the max
I thought that you would have hinged the body so that you could lift the front up and access the engine. Top fuel dragster style
Damn, Richard... Mitch... I cried!!!
The amount of work you're putting into this car is crazy. Feels like you're reworking every inch of it twice! So fun to watch!
Three things.
1. Dry sump oil pan. May get the motor lower and possibly allow you to run the cross member under it giving you some movement forward if needed.

Love that motor placement, so much better than where it was!
Before you do the floor you should get driveshaft in and run exhaust. Be a lot easier welding exhaust wit no floor. Easier to run brake lines get it all done then do the floor.. just a thought.
This is really smart, specially cause he wants it on the ground, can tuck everything up then build the floor around that!
I 3rd this
Do like Ian Roussel did with his radical rod, have the body from the firewall back lifting up funny car style and have a tilt front.
You need a tubular front cross member to move it forward!!
Why dont you run a LS with fuel injection? Would save space up top as no carb, valve covers are shorter, and run a car intake, and you can run a car oil pan and it wont hang way down
Ground effects kit.. its bigger bumpers and side skirts so you can get a lower car or truck without lowering suspension
Too add, man seeing your builds. Literally are inspiring for the fact that it's all diy.
I love this little car!! I have 3 English Ford Anglia project cars.
You are a real inspiration to me. Thanks.
HELL YEA CASEY 💪 😎
i think you should move the hinges for the hood to the front to make servicing easier. would let you get right up on the firewall
How come you didn't link in the front end push Motor ford I know you had a link in your fenders but it been easier and less motor inside the Interior cockpit were you set
Let's goooo!! I'm working on my crx right now your the reason I started recording TH-cam videos on it 🔥
If you wanted to reinforce the crossmember a little better, get rid of the crankshaft pulley so you can reinforce that crossmember where it was and just buy an electric water pump. If you need an alternator they make alternators that you can actually attach to the rear differential that will rotate with the axle. That way the alternator is charging the battery while you're driving.
It's going to look cool with the ground effects!
Get you a spool of flux core for when gas runs out
What about factory injection off an old Camaro ❓ that would put the throttle body out front and allow you to snug it up as tight to the windshield as you want to . ✌🏼💚🙏🏼
Tune port injection. It’s an option
Why don't you cut out that engine crossmember and build you one out or round bar tubing then you can move the motor down more and more forward and plus it will give you more of a better angle for your steering rack
This is the only guy that says he's going to build something I know he can and will he does some amazing stuff
Please put a x brace or crossbar between the rear down bars
Might not be a bad idea.
Look up Jeff Lutz jr. He has and Eg civic with a small block in it. Graf and drive car. It’s wicked cool
This thing is a beast. I had a quick idea if you cut the front cross member out, move the motor forward, and use engine plates (can't think of the technical term) as a way to mount the motor and also as a cross member. you used the right term
Super cool man, lovin the build!
This little car makes us happy too Casey!
I like this build. Its is coming together now. It is so freaking cool.
Silly Civ is coming along. Yep, coolest car you’ve done. Love Silly Civ.
I love this build more than any other!! So excited over it!!! You should do a RX7 next😳💪🏾
If you put underdrive pulleys on it your crank pully will be smaller diameter.
Might be able to move it forward more
Hi Casey try to source a Mugen Power pro 2 body kit for the cr-x. I believe wings west has some reproduction of that exact same body kit and it makes the car significantly look lower eventhough it really isn't.
How tall is a 5.3 LS with efi intake? Or even your existing mouse with port efi and low profile TB?
This thing is awesome the stance looks great!
love seing your love for a honda crx growing each episode 😜
At 11:01 you had a good shot of the engine and the cross member. You can bring that motor forward a lot more find a different oil pan and move the steering down or to the rear you can do it
I’ve been waiting to see this vehicle since I was about ten in the 90s
a 4.3 v6 s10 has a throttle body intake that you can use and add a cone style filter where ever
Just get a LS 4.8/5.3 with a low profile intake manifold & you save a bunch of room & get rid of a shitty Carb...
This build is coming along sick! Loving it! With all that room up front, you gonna throw on some turbos?
Can’t wait to see how you cut up the frame and continue this build
I'm not jealous at all. Love watching all your builds and blows my mind how u managed to keep on budget with them 💪👍
to get you more room looking in michigan metal works budget s10 control arms. they are flat metal plate upper and lower control arms
A set of tubular upper a-arms might give a little more clearance in the engine bay
Can't wait for the finished product!! Great build.
This car should be fun to drive and it is already looking good.
You need tubular A-arms.
Thought. I notice the nuts on top. If by chance, bolt and nut come loose, the gravity would cause the bolt to fall out. Put bolt in from top. So if the nut becomes loose, the bolt will not fall out. Just thought. Love your channel!
Souldnt the rear bars be supporting the hoop at the bends in the corner?
Love you found the new Vega!
It’s not even done and I love this thing I fxxxing love it
I was thinking you could do a hood scoop and do like your dad said and do a cut out. of the glass.
Switch from carbureted to EFI may give you more room too.
too good would like to see finished bm mus 65, if only i could do this in australia.
Another excellent episode….
The coolest build ever

Gotta take to car shows people will go crazy!!!!👍🏾
Why don't you make a front cross member out of round tubing basically like the trans cross member you cut out then you can put the motor where you want
BINGO
Awesome position for the engine just one more thing if possible do efi and slimmer intake
I can't wait to see this finished.
Casey, would you consider using the steering knuckles from a 3rd gen camaro? It has the same lower ball joint, spindle and brakes as the s10, but has a strut instead of upper control arm. That would allow you to put the motor forward all the way to the steering rack
Looking awesome Casey pretty cool man. 😎
If you buy a kirkey race seat and bolt it straight to the floor/frame you’ll gain some headroom.
You must run premium gas. In case you don’t,Crappy new gas has a lower boiling point and causes vapor lock. So a phenolic spacer is needed. So don’t forget that in the equation. I feel like you know all this tho. Love this build. Please do donuts in it when you’re finished.
Do a tube k member instead of the factory frame would give you a ton of room forward up and Down !
This thing is going to be so awesome
She's looking good!
Again love your the way your mind works.
Needs a see-through hood.
I wonder if a dry sump oil pan would allow you to move the engine forward more.
Thanks for teaching me this kinda stuff wow.
You should add an American style cowl hood. Dude at my h.s. had a crx with cowl hood, looked awesome.
The pieces for the rocker panels are side skirts.
Just curious, can you convert it to RHD? That’d be pretty sick! A RHD V8 CRX
Ls will be no distributor and intake forward
The absence of thrown hammers seems deliberate at this point....I've cried all my tears away
Upper Tube arms would have helped clearances.
Casey this build is so bad ass. But for real make it so that it’s like the old school pro mods with the flip up body’s.
Again, this is why you build a complete frame. No screwing around. Build the frame to suit your needs.
And here.....we.......go!
That is going to be so fun to drive
Question ...your not worried about the torque lifting that lite front end with no engine weight on it
Would a two seat mid-engine location, been an option?
Crx is looking good
Thats better. Was hoping to see u cut the whole S10 crsmber out, and replace w/rect. tube (on side) like mus., 11,? What about a drop tube piece joining ft. 4 bar/ cage base, side 2 side. Looks great!!! Izzy,,,,
Can't wait to see it all done gonna look sick, mate 👌
Great work love your work
Thank you very much !
