Спасибо за хорошую презентацию советского синтезатора. Для тех кто родился и вырос в такой большой и могучей (в своё время) стране, от которой уже ничего не осталось, будет приятно получить небольшое наследие - благодаря Cherry Audio.
Tim, I always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception. I am a long time Synthesizer Owner and Programmer since I bought my ARP 2600 back in 1972, added a second one a year later along with a Mini Moog. Since then I have either owned or have played dozens and dozens of Synths from virtually every manufacturer but never this one. It was really enjoyable to watch and listen you go through this. I know my way around Synthesizers and thoroughly know how to use the but still some of your videos have inspired me to add particular synths or instruments to my Home Studio, in particular your Excellent History and Demonstrating of the Mellotron made me go buy one immediately and the same with the Behringer Poly D. Thanks for all you do.
I'm in LOVE WITH THIS SYNTH. I dont even like hardware emulations.. but this just sounds so amazing. Its scary, sexy, brutal, ravenous and beautiful. Some of the bass patches made my speakers rumble. This synth to me like Fruit salad is to Peewee Herman
I knew I wanted to buy this immediately but I thought I'd be responsible and demo it first. I made it through about 10 presets before I clicked the buy button! It sounds so cool!
Wow, really impressed, great idea to virtualise this unique & rare synth , and brilliantly executed, impressive character !!! And of course, always a great video by Tim Shoebridge : in-depth, without hype, and tasteful demos ... Now, if (eg.) Behringer could create a synth/controller with a 1on1 mapping , life would be perfect ❤ BTW : can a user opt for a less skeuomorphism ? The front panel is nice AND functional - recognisable UI's are essential for knowing an instrument, but side panels / background take up unnecessary space ...
One thing to remember. The sounds do not have to be rough or distorted at all. You can still program very clean pristine sounds on it too. Its up to you really.
I was browsing my channel subscription list just last night and was wondering what Tim’s been up to lately. Love these deep dive videos, they really roll out the red carpet for the new releases.
STARVE = voltage starving the circuit (mainly the op-amps) to the point where the circuit starts breaking, but still works. I'll definitely buy this. Although, as ever, I so wish software synths like this would have a simple switch to turn on/off all the modern additions, and have dedicated presets using only the original functions. Somehow, software companies don't realize that people are interested in discovering the possibilities of the vintage synths, and browsing trough presets which add a ton of fx and other modern options makes that really different. I really wish that would change: just 1 switch vintagemodern and let users decide what they prefer. Please :)
Love the look of your videos. Not sure if its the Lens or the aperture. But its always a treat on the eyes. Do you ever work with real film anymore? This thing sounds nice.
It's getting to a point with cherry audio where every synth is quite dirty sounding which I love. The Elka X and Memory mode already given plenty of grit that I'm hope their next release is something clean and pristine
Atomika is quite capable of clean and pristine. Just turn the mixer down a little and don't use any STARVE, or DRIVE controls. It can sound very sweet.
Maybe STARVE simulates under-powering transistors and other components in the filter circuit? A big part of Louis and Bebe Barron's sound design was achieved by reducing power to their circuits, well below what they were optimally designed to handle (and sometimes by overpowering them until they burned out and failed altogether).
That's close to it, and there's more to it because these were not the "traditional" chips. Read more at cherryaudio.com/news/secrets-of-atomika "The (Mostly) Unfiltered Secrets of Atomika"
I know you guys do obscure analog synths, and that's kind of your thing, but could you do a Yamaha DX7 plugin so I don't have to give Arturia $149 to get one? (Or use that hard to navigate Dexed free plugin. Yikes!) That and maybe an Emulator 2 or EMAX would be fantastic!
I have been hoping for Behringer to release one of these synths, I have used soft synths for the odd patch but I couldn't use one all the time, it would drive me mad!
Why your plugins sounds so digital and clean? An emulation needs some dirty and a bunch of imperfections to get close to the emulated hardware instrument and a lot of organic movement. Thanks.
In the case of Atomika, those imperfections are easily achieved through the modulation options, and modifying the filter Starve and drive controls. Try the free demo at cherryaudio.com/products/atomika-synthesizer/download
quite nice, very nice work... however, and sorry to be a snob, it will never sound like a real Polivoks, if you have had one in front of you, you now what i mean... Polivoks just has its own character, an untameable and most unstable wildest beast in a box... Leave it on for 5 minutes playing the same arp sequence and you will see what i mean, the sound will simply not hold and change character in time.. comparing a real Polivoks to the VST side by side would be a hard job to achieve, probably useless to even give it a try. And btw your original Polivoks is completely analog, so if one day it wont turn on, just take it to a technician, its def not impossible to replace whatever parts with substitutes.
id like to have a rather stable than unstable polivoks tbh. the overly reproduced instability in remakes always held me back from being interest in these projects. i hope ca will fix this^^
Good to see the wild man of synth reviews back on yt 😊
Haha

Nobody does demonstrations better than Tim. He sells the product by the quality of his presentation… bad man. You just cost me money! 😂

Welcome back. Nice to see and hear you
Nobody better than Shoebridge. Looks good Cherry Audio
A+ to Cherry Audio for another stellar release.... and Tim Shoebridge always knocks his demonstrations and product reviews out of the park!
Great review Tim
Superlative video Tim. Thank you for making the time to share your work and educate us on this bad-ass recreation of the Polivoks
Thank you, your presentations are always very concise, entertaining and, your compositions on the presentation are fabulous.
At last, Tim's back on the air ! Hallelujah (but once again my credit card won't forgive me). Greetings from France.😉
Thanks Tim. Great demo.

I made it to about three and a custom patch before I hit the trigger
Cherry Audio is cranking out gems. Well done
Another brilliant review and demo Tim. Bought it immediately!
Thanks once again Cherry Audio for spoiling us rotten, and Tim Shoebridge for deftly articulating just how rotten we're spoiled. As usual, a must-buy.
Great to see you again Tim.
Great video as always and lovely to see some of my presets used in the Demo's from the Chain Reactions Soundpack. :)
Tim for the win!
Cherry Audio keeps the hits coming!
Thanks Tim. You always do great work.
Thanks Tim & the cherry crew 🍒
Sounds great and always good to hear it in the context of several different pieces of music. Also great to see Tim doing synthesizer videos again!
Wow! I love that we can now hide the useless keyboard! THANK YOU CHERRY AUDIO!!!
Gekauft und schon am testen. Das wird eine lange Nacht... 😎 Danke Cherry Audio!
Such a great instrument, thanks Cherry Audio 🍒
Great work on the interface. Hide keyboard a simple but important feature for us touchscreen users. And the sound!!! 🎉
Great review as always Cheers Tim
Bought it today!! Love it!!!
Отличный синтезатор Cherry
Welcome back in the internet, Tim !
Fantastic video. CA knocked it out the park once again with this synth
Brilliant demonstration - thank you so much!
Very nice work.
Thankyou to Tim for pointing out
Ukrainians can understand the UI.
Спасибо! Дай Вам Бог здоровья! Так долго ждал!
Damn!!!The pads on this are so mesmerizing...Thank you cherry audio!
Thanks Cherry Audio. This purchase is a must ❤️
I want an Atomika t-shirt!
Das ist mal was anderes als Juno, Jupiter und co. Einfach toll!

Sounds and looks great 👌
Dammit, Cherry Audio! I was trying to save money, not spend it, but when you release a synth this good, I've got no choice lol
lovely Tim!

Nice idea❤️
Your description of what the STARVE control is doing is a good guess, but not the secret sauce. I'm so mean.
That's a cool idea, the vintage switch.
is there a way that the virtual Keyboard gets nicotin-yellow like the original after some years ?
Love the look of your videos. Not sure if its the Lens or the aperture. But its always a treat on the eyes. Do you ever work with real film anymore? This thing sounds nice.
This Synth is so good its insane!!!
the first plugin i can use !!!! i dont need a magnifer to read the nobs

Just got it!Can't wait to submerge myself in this realm!
Ι never heard of this synth, but it does sound super great. I think that it will be a great pair with the GX-80!
Same DSP developer :)
Superb 🙂

@@CherryAudiovst Thanks! Would it be possible to offer this filter, or filter/VCA combo, as a Voltage module?
@@meowenstein That would be a wonderful addition to the Voltage Modular ecosystem, for all their instruments (Cat synth filter module?)
Ooo must buy.🤔........bought.😎
Been testing this one out and it has some real teeth.
очень круто!!!
Superb
Vulture Culture also has a real Polivoks which was serviced recently and did a comparison last night. Atomika is very close to the Polivoks.
A number of us watched last night and really enjoyed that show - th-cam.com/video/0XZAYmoTPlA/w-d-xo.html
@@CherryAudiovst Alex does great work. And is a lot of fun to watch.
You have a real Polivoks yet there's no side by side comparison?
Fortunately, @VultureCulture did a great job doing just that in his latest livestream - th-cam.com/video/0XZAYmoTPlA/w-d-xo.html
@@CherryAudiovst Thanks for the link!
Tim did a great job nevertheless.

Try Dexed, it's not bad, especially since there are video tutorials for it. In addition, Native Instruments - FM7 was released earlier.
I think it's pretty crazy that Polyvox was not popular in the virtual recreation scene.
I have been hoping for Behringer to release one of these synths, I have used soft synths for the odd patch but I couldn't use one all the time, it would drive me mad!
I hope they add PWM in a future upgrade. (Even though the original doesn't have it either). But it's still a great synth.
For a minute I thought Tim was describing the culture let alone the synth.
Ha I knew insomnia would pay off!! I needed a chainsaw!

please CA make it modular too!
What's about that charming, strange Quark? Hawkwind in a box?
No one has a wasp clone vst. It would fit Cherry Audio, just a wish.
What about Dehornet they had one
🙂

It is not unstable. You will have no problem.
Well @CherryAudiovst I figured if I requested it enough you’d eventually get to it . Thanks comrades!
How does this compare to the Red Rock Sound Ivoks?
We have not seen that but the best way to judge is to check out the free demo of Atomika at cherryaudio.com/products/atomika-synthesizer/download
Поливокс!!!
