Tommie, I would definitely miss your videos. You're one of my favorite snowboarding youtubers, for sure! But you need to do what's best for you. You've taught me a lot, and I wish you the best in whatever you do, buddy.
What ever you decide ,Tommie. I want to thank you for what you taught me. I am an older snowboarder, will be 73 years old in March and enjoying every minute on the mountain following your instructions. Thank you again.
Hey Tommie, I started boarding 3 years ago. I have watched a lot of your videos which helped me progress as a snowboarder. Hell, I even bought one of your hoodies! I love all the content and products you put out. Whatever it is you do, I will get behind. You helped me out SO MUCH in my progression, and I can't thank you enough.
I started snowboarding last year at 42 years old and your content has been so helpful. I definitely agree about getting lessons too and will start learning switch this year. Thanks bro!
Hi Tommy vids are brilliant I learn so much. You said about you are not sure what to do next, how about you shoot runs and tricks in VR perspective so people can watch and practice in VR before hitting the slopes. I don't see others doing this. I would love it to see it riding in the 1st person with instruction, wearing my headset. Love the brand, the jacket looks sick. 🤙
You've been the most helpful teacher I've ever watched. You took me from day 1 beginner to riding steep, tracked out black diamonds so quickly because you emphasized the fundamentals, and made it fun. I truly, wholeheartedly appreciate your work Tommy.
I Just came back from a trip at Snoeshow going in as a beginner level 2 (according to my instructor last Spring Break) with the objective of being able to link turns on mellow slopes. On the last run of the last day I was able to accomplish that consistently and it was the one of the greatest feelings. Thanks to videos from you and Malcolm Moore I was able to prep the trip to Snoeshow and a trip to Colorado later in Feb where I am looking to expand. No matter what you decide to ultimately do, thank you for sharing your knowledge and good vibes.
Will really miss your new YT content Tommie if you decide to call it.. but all the old stuff will always be here & watch loads back time & time again. So thanks for everything ... you've been the best creator / tutor by far! Best of luck in the future!
Tommie, I never post on TH-cam but I need to say thanks… I hadn’t snowboarded in 15 years, for the past month I’ve been watching your videos and mentally practicing. Just got back from a week in Japan, Kiroro. Took a couple of club classes and after 2 days I was riding the whole mountain. I have no doubt watching so many of your videos accelerated my learning. Cheers brother 🫡
Loved this! I grew up snowboarding as often as possible (not that often because I'm from Southern CA), but recently moved to CO and I am back at it and it is so freeing! I came across your channel in 2023 and your energy got me so pumped to get back on the mountain. I appreciate you and what you do for the community!
I just started learning to snowboard this season after wanting to for the past 27. When I'm not out on the hill, I'm on here studying your videos. They're informative, to the point, fun, personable, and not overproduced which really helps me feel like these are techniques I can actually do. Whatever you choose, I hope it's what is right for you but thank you so much for what you've done with this channel.
Yo yo. Ive only started snowboarding 2 seasons ago and you've been my favorite TH-camr to watch! It would suck if you stopped making videos but I'm still gonna follow the brand. Keep being awesome!
Hi Tommie, Made it to the end.... Whatever you decide to do, you do have a gift in communication. Also, the desire to help people. That cannot be underestimated! Good luck!!!
Hey Tommie, youre an absolute master at teaching from a technical standpoint and from the sheer exuberance and ernest love for teaching that you have, Youre passionate teaching style literally helped ME accomplish something amazing today on my 7th time snowboarindg across 2 seasons now. A day after my 34th birthday I drove 5 hours from LA to Mammoth to snowboard, and the highlight of my day today was doing your drill from your Instagram video on doing 360 heelside to toe side turns. Its one of the proudest accomplishments of my short year now snowboarding.
Tommie, whether you gotta take a break or stop altogether, you've contributed so much to the community here, you've definitely done enough. i don't know if you're getting writers block or just not enjoying it so much anymore but do whats best for you. We'll continue watching what you put up if/when you do and supporting you I'm sure.
I'm just starting to tackle different kinds of moguls, would love another refresh take on it! Always appreciated your enthusiasm and your skills. Good luck on your year!
Your videos were very helpful making me stick to knee steering and body position. I’m very new at snowboarding but your content is top notch with information. I also remember watching you in a live, just shooting the vives and answering questions, that was dope too. Listening to you has been great in my experience.
Naaaaaah bro you can’t stop I love watching your videos. You’ve honestly taught me so much and your videos are HELLLA HELPFUL . So please don’t stop my boy 🤜🏾🤛🏼
Tommie... you started making videos right about the time my wife and our five kids got into snowboarding. You've been there since our start in snowboarding and we've been here since your start in YouTubing lol. You've been my go-to for lessons on everything, from carving to tricks, AND the main reason I got my kids riding switch right from the start AS WELL AS focusing on body-positioning (lol). Funny, I've been watching/learning from you all these years and then half way through this very video I finally hit the subscribe button only to find at the end of the video that your life might be taking a different direction! How bizarrely ironic! Almost makes me emotional. But... things change. I get that. Much love from Saskatchewan, Canada!
I think you are at a crossroad Tommy! You have helped so many people like me and my daughter enjoy 🏂 with your unique, informative, and very entertaining style of teaching. I learned to snowboard capably at a later age doing a lot of your tips including the ones on this video (I took a lot of weekend lessons, try different places, try to be aware of body positions etc.) which has us snowboarding black diamonds safely in a year. My son, a long time snowboarder was shocked I could keep up when we were together in the Canadian Rockies last April. Thanks so much! I guess you have reached the pinnacle of this journey and are looking for other areas to grow. Hopefully, it will be in the area you love and have already put so much work into. But I think it would still involve you front facing as you are already a "Personality". A movie perhaps 🙂 Whatever you decide, I am sure you will do well as you already know the elements required for success! Wishing you the all the best, more success and more POW...er !😉❤
Tommie boy… I have to tell you: I really like your more calm and assured - slower - way of talking and explaining. It suits you so much better, and comes across a lot more palatable as well. I also wanted to tell you: I find you to be the most relatable snowboard TH-camr out there … and I only watch your snowboard videos these days. Stay solid, and thank you.
I really liked this video. I'm a new sub this season as I'm just learning. Your videos have helped me pick it up on day one. It would be a shame to lose new content, but the content you've put out already has so much value. Thanks.
Appreciate your videos Tommie, I'm sure many of us hope you continue to put them out but you gotta look after number one first and do whatever makes you happy. All the best my man
Everything about this video is spot on. I was in the same position kind of being brutally self-taught during Covid. Lessons would have expedited the process, but I’m grateful to be shredding now and instructing!
just putting it out there, a lot of people don’t have the power and can’t help and push others to try and get better or even have the audience to listen to what they are saying, whatever your path is i pray for nothing but the best for you homie! but i know a lot of people enjoy your content and hopefully one day it all is worth it god bless man and thanks for showing everyone boarders are cool guys too😋🍻
Hi Tommie, appreciate you and the work you've put into consistently creating top tier content. You've massively helped me and undoubtably many others! I'm sure the good karma will be making its way back to you, wherever your next adventure takes you. All the best x
You're so cool I just can't 😢 I am a skier but I've always wanted to snowboard and this year I took lessons, but then I found your channel and I am absolutely happy. Thank you so much!!!!❤
I’m new here but I just started looking into how to snowboard before I go on my first trip! I appreciate all of your help and I’m going to buy my wife and my helmet an evolution sticker once we start to invest in the necessities I will get my own board on another trip, after. I learn the fundamentals. My first trip is about 8 hours away from Georgia, to snowshoe mountain.
Great video, my man. I’m feeling every bit of this. I’m on my third season and I’m sick and tired of my bad habits. I’m going to put my pride aside and invest in lessons to fix my body position because it’s for sure holding me back and frustrating me. Thanks for the push I needed to get over myself!
first time i went snowboard, rented some material, and spent the next five days snowboarding with a posi - posi stance. i only realized months later when i started to learn about snowboard and looked at my trip photos. i had no idea, and nobody more knowledgeable corrected me at the time 😂 i remember it felt awkward, but then again, everything about snowboard was awkward lol, however i did learn to snowboard and was linking turns by the end of the week. best feeling ever ❤
Im a beginnner boarder, and ive been entirely self taught using youtube videos like yours. Ive been practicing my s turns as a switch and i feel like it has helped me be way more confident knowing how to link s turns both regular and goofy
Thanks for this, some of this does resonate with me, I've had so much tuition which for me was a huge benefit, however most choose not to and you can always see them on the mountain, your tuition is the same as my teacher, so thanks for doing this, it reminds me how I should ride after 12 years off the snow
Tommie, I hope you do what you feel most passionate about, whatever that is, but as a single data point: I just snowboarded for the first time last week for 3 days but couldn’t afford lessons. Your videos were more helpful than anyone else, including other good teachers, and because of you I linked turns by the end of my last day, which was my goal. Because of that I’m hooked and want to start shopping gear and get a pass next season. You helped make me want to ride more, so thank you so much.
I'm Brazilian and I live in the USA. This will probably be my last year here. My dream since I was a child was to be a snowboarder, last Friday I managed to make it come true. but unfortunately without help, I broke my arm. Now as I stay in bed all day, I discovered your videos! You are wonderful, I wish I had seen you sooner, to have avoided this disaster.
i hope you continue doing youtube your content has helped me immensely from learning to ride to now trying freestyle tricks. Also benetek is so dope i have the maroon hoodie and its better imo that another big snow brand one i have. also that jacket is sick! my size is sold out for the year but ill wait for the new drop. None the less hope you do whatever makes you the happiest.
Thank you Tommie for all your TH-cam content, it has definitely helped me progress… and with that being said a Mogul video would be great lol! There is a Mogul field at my east coast home mountain that is usually ice and I’m afraid of it, but would be really cool to master I think. 😂🎉
I just came to the comments to say that I agree, your riding switch video was really good. Kuddos to you Tommie for making an in-depth video with progression exercises for such a fundamental skill. You should make one on how to develop good body positioning as well.
Wassup Tommie! You're videos have helped me on my journey to learn and get better at snowboarding. I don't remember you doing half pipe videos. I got in almost 60 days of snowboarding last year and started testing out hitting the half pipe at Northstar. I was able to go back and forth but sucked still since my switch riding sucked still as well. This season I'll be focusing on riding switch a lot and hopefully hitting some easy 180s and 360s. So far only a little over 10 days riding due to being sick and crashing on the box and landing on my shoulder. Still screwed but I'm going to work through the lingering pain. Do some half pipe videos. Would be interesting to see.
Such a valuable video Tommy. One thing I would do over again is to become an instructor much sooner. Anyone that wants to take their riding to the next level, should instruct.
Thank you sir! It might feel repetitive but that’s the point. I really appreciate your input! Are you creating for money? Or the love? Money flows when you love your craft!
Just watched to end before first comment . Tommie do you ! We all love your content but I do realize TH-cam is a grind . Do what makes you happy in the end! Love riding with a crew and solo!! Jacket is sick !!!!!🔥
If you are bored with coming up with ideas it actually helps me a ton when you are training new riders because for you you wouldn’t need to come up with new ideas you just correct their mistakes and seeing all the different bad things new riders can do and you telling them how to fix it are my favorite videos. Not sure if the reason you want to be done is lack of content ideas or if you are just bored with it but you could just sit in front of the camera and monologue and we would still watch. You’re my favorite snowboard channel. Would be sad to see you go.
If doing the same stuff is getting boring, you could always put out more specific content. Throw out some community polls and see what people want to see! Your tutorials have been so valuable. The collection of knowledge over time and easy access is so nice before hitting the slopes again for the first time. I remember watching a bunch of your videos when I first started because it made me more confident.
ill admit, everytime I get of the lift I huck to one side immidatley to get out of the way, also planting my board into the snow so I can strap in standing up, and the last tip I leanrt was putting your binding down before the chair lift...I went once last year ive been over four times this year and those tricks are awesome, so thank you.
just wanted to say that i've watched your videos for the past few years at least, and you are helping me be a better boarder. If you stop making them, i'll be sad, but i get it -- it's gotta be SO hard to continually be making long-form content like you've been doing. You do you, but i just had to pipe up and say that as a gray on a tray, thank you! [EDIT]: i just saw the comment from @The1Chipper, and i thought i was an older boarder at 57, haha -- props to him!
the sudden mid-life crisis moment pause on the hill was hilarious. unintentionally funny but man, i feel ya, doing this content jazz has to be so much effort - take a few months break and see how much weight is lifted off and then keep on truckin.
Hey man! Your videos help me a lot! You are an inspiration for me and I’m so sure for many other people. Please just redo what you have done so far. You are great!
Hey, what should I do differently? I would see some videos beforehand to know what is important for snowboarding- sure the stance and how to achieve it.
Something I would really like to see is you riding on your current board and gear and then doing the same slope on board and gear, say, 20 years old and doing a comparison. I think it would be fun and informative 😊
Also what i do if I learned snowboarding all over again is to take lessons, get advice from others. At big bear is tough to learn because we dont have very good snow to learn. Also I would buy gently used gear after the season is over because equipment is expensive n get a ikon pass or epic n always wear a helmet.
Tommie, maybe you can take your own advice and snowboard some new lines with friends. YouTubing alone sounds like it would be hard and draining. This may be a good time to go on new adventures and make new friends who fill you up! I’m sure you have other adventurous hobbies you’d like to explore and share. Whatever you do, be courageous and enjoy the journey! Much love brother
Tommie, I took my first lesson at 60, and wish I had this video then. Also, would love for you to do some camps at different mountains. Maybe these hills could benefit from contracting you for a week camp, even if they have their own instructors.
Hi Tommie, thanks for making this video! I’m in the process of buying a board and progressing from intermediate, and this video really helped me figure out my next steps. I just have one question-what stance would you recommend for an intermediate rider like me when it comes to switch riding? Thanks again!
I feel like I wasted 10 years years cruising around on reverse camber, if I could go back I'd get on a camber hybrid or full camber and learn switch asap!
The irony of you talking about knee turning is when I was learning to teach in 2000/2001, my instructor gave me a 2/10 for my riding because he said I rode "like an east coaster" with my knee-led turns instead of shoulder-led turns. A whole generation of riders were taught shoulder-led snowboarding and I worry about their safety in the harsh, sharp turn areas. You need knee kick turns for those areas. Also, I love stiff boots because it keeps all my body mechanics moving the board on the snow, rather than me moving and the energy being lost between my muscle and the board, moving my boot around or whatever. But then again, I started in 1994 on super floppy boots and I guess I never went back.
Tommie, love this vid. Practiced this technique a bit Thursday, you provide a great breakdown. Question: I notice on cat tracks that my back foot/board seems to slide forward a lot, it's exasperating. Is this perhaps due to steering w my back foot (I ride regular), as opposed to my front knee and foot? I hope this makes sense.
Would there still be a benetek if there isn’t Tommie b TH-cam videos? You need to figure out what it is you really enjoy doing. As an outsider who’s watched you for years, it certainly seems like your passion is coaching/teaching. Maybe it’s time to start doing co-labs with people on their channels. They get to do all the work and you still get to share your wisdom. Or maybe drill down and find out what part of coaching you like doing, one on one? Trick progression? Group lessons? Etc One thing is for sure though, as I’ve heard you say it many times, you don’t enjoy doing videos anymore. Whatever you decide I will always be grateful for the help you gave me to progress my riding.
First day I ever got on a snowboard my friends took me up the beginner lift. Thought I would get it no problem cause I knew how to skateboard. Took me 45 minutes to get down the beginner trail of a 1k vertical mountain until I unstrapped and walked the rest of the way down. Definitely would have taken a lesson.
great vid, I came from longboard dancing so I made sure to learn switch at the same time. I'm still garbage at snowboarding but at least I have twice as many ways to be garbage
You Tommie. You have any experience with associated a particular trick/skill with a big injury? I hurt myself bad trying switch, and now I’m afraid to try it again. I’m now way too comfortable just riding my regular stance.
I would definitely miss ur videos, but what I feel that a lot of over influencers struggle with is creating new content. The stuff u guys produce is awesome but at a certain point it could become repetitive and what new can u create when u n others have hit so many topics n ideas. I also see this in casey willax, n board archive. Btw i hope I get to see some day at mammoth.
Currently have fairly stiff boots for my bodyweight (150lbs) and feel like I can't absorb moguls as well on my toeside without breaking heavily at the waist. Do you know where to find softer boots or have a pair you'd recommend? Edit: Take care of yourself
I would say be patient with injuries in any sport is a good point (honorable mention). I would also say i would have rather grown up in a mountain town and not outside NYC LOL.
1. Wear a helmet. 2. Don't rotate every jumps. You can get injured. 3. Renew gear if it don't feel good. It wears out. 4. Don't buy an advanced freeride board if you like freestyle.
Tommie, I would definitely miss your videos. You're one of my favorite snowboarding youtubers, for sure! But you need to do what's best for you. You've taught me a lot, and I wish you the best in whatever you do, buddy.
This x 1000 👍🏻
Same. Can't agree more.
Look up Malcolm Moore, he’s amazing too
Yep, Malcolm's deep dive vids are awesome!
What ever you decide ,Tommie. I want to thank you for what you taught me. I am an older snowboarder, will be 73 years old in March and enjoying every minute on the mountain following your instructions. Thank you again.

Because of that I’m hooked and want to start shopping gear and get a pass next season. You helped make me want to ride more, so thank you so much.
dont worry mate, you'll find your way. keep positive and keep slaying the mountains!
Tommie, the friends i would love to learn snowboard with! Seems soo cooool and friendly !
Thanks for the video Tommie, you da GOAT.
Im just starting so im eating all this up, thanks for your honesty.
What Tommy no way you are the best snowboard TH-camr you taught me everything!!
Keep it up buddy you help a lot more people than you think.
Been invest into your videos on tiktok.. finally got into snowboarding last weekend
Tommy, I struggle with moguls and have pretty much written them off. I would defiantly like to see a video on that 🤙🏽
Hey man! Your videos help me a lot! You are an inspiration for me and I’m so sure for many other people. Please just redo what you have done so far. You are great!
Beginner here. I enjoy your content
Nice tips, best for me was too get rid of all the protective wear.....such as crash pads...
Keep doing it bro 💯
I feel like I wasted 10 years years cruising around on reverse camber, if I could go back I'd get on a camber hybrid or full camber and learn switch asap!
Great mountain . Where is it ?
But then again, I started in 1994 on super floppy boots and I guess I never went back.
as a beginner, do you encourage high backs at zero or somewhere in the middle?
All those points fully apply to me too :D I feel I did the same mistakes
Etc
One thing is for sure though, as I’ve heard you say it many times, you don’t enjoy doing videos anymore.
Whatever you decide I will always be grateful for the help you gave me to progress my riding.
Lovely vid, ty ❤
how long is your board compared to you and what's the stiffness of it?
First day I ever got on a snowboard my friends took me up the beginner lift. Thought I would get it no problem cause I knew how to skateboard. Took me 45 minutes to get down the beginner trail of a 1k vertical mountain until I unstrapped and walked the rest of the way down. Definitely would have taken a lesson.
Do you have a lens caps on your camera?
moguls are "an absolute playground" 🤙🏽 9:50
great vid, I came from longboard dancing so I made sure to learn switch at the same time. I'm still garbage at snowboarding but at least I have twice as many ways to be garbage
Just went snowboarding for the first time today by myself and i can no longer feel my right butt cheek
My first day I took lessons at diamond peak in Tahoe, After day 3 I was ripping and never looked back
Nice to reset all time experience
I would say be patient with injuries in any sport is a good point (honorable mention). I would also say i would have rather grown up in a mountain town and not outside NYC LOL.
1. Wear a helmet.
2. Don't rotate every jumps. You can get injured.
3. Renew gear if it don't feel good. It wears out.
4. Don't buy an advanced freeride board if you like freestyle.
So would you still take lessons after you learned and been riding for 5 years ?
