    That was a good show ,, thanks for sharing, I wish I still had the straight that young lady has ,, and it`s really great to see a 19, 20 year old young adult actually do physical work !!

    It is refreshing to see a young lady doing blacksmith work. It is, also, great to see a lady wearing a shirt like the one you have on and "not" see ugly tattoos defacing their body. I wish you major success with your schooling and blacksmith career. Keep up the great work! ... Mule

    I wish you many years of success. I too have picked up the art of blacksmithing. There are years of learning associated with the craft but you have a leg up all beginning smith because of your wonderful facility.
    Please protect yourself utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Your lungs and eyes , in your entire body mus last for so long establishing good habits early on is the key to protecting yourself. Love the work you have done and hope to see lots of videos of you teaching us all YOUR artistic techniques.

    I see DANGER get that propane can away from the forge heat. A sign of a good blacksmith/craftsman I think is of the lack of gloves, eye protection, sleeves. Plasters taught me that not using gloves helps you handle the material and learn to put it on the wall not your hands.

    Maybe something to consider for bases in the future could be for you to punch a hole in the plate for your bases and then feed the rod through. Grind the tip of rod fed through then weld from the underside and that should give you penetration for the pieces on the weld to hold. Otherwise, great video and love to see your ambition!

    As a working blacksmith at both Mystic Seaport Museum and my own Flying Pig Forge, who started this over 50 years ago I hope Heather changes her hammer grip befor she developes problems and pays a little attention to the safety of her eyes, (you only get 1 set!) and other obvious parts of her anatomy. It would be a shame for her to develope burn scars. Her guest is also not well protected. And what's with the propane torch? I wish her luck though!

    • @manga12
      @manga12 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Chip Sowalski yes she could use a pair of gloves and specs, and perhaps something to protect the arms, I know it gets hot though but, her skin will thank thank her latter, hot metal and the radiation can do a number on the eyes and skin of course. and her grip is too stiff you want a bit of give from what I understand so you dont get carpel tunnel and tennis elbow later.

    What a role model for her peers for a young woman to move into a craft traditionally thought of as a man's world. But please adopt better safety practices & wear proper safety gear & clothing, you'll be glad you did.

      +red rob not really needed for what she was doing.. maybe some hotter bigger metal thats being forge welded or grinding and belt sander

    • @redrob6331
      @redrob6331 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +TheEvilways101 Ever heard of scale? Ear plugs or a big magnet on her anvil wouldn't be a bad thing either. I know a smith who is having to give it up because of years of cumulative hearing damage.

    • @TheEvilways101
      @TheEvilways101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      nonsense.. i been playing in two heavy metal bands and going to LOUD concerts and playing LOUD in small rooms for over 10years and doing blacksmithing with NO ear protection of any kind and i can hear just fine. like i can hear a mouse fart! i do have magnets on my anvil but its not to catch scale its to take the ring away, and a chain.. which is why i don't need any ear protections its just not loud enough to worry about it.. and scale I've never had a problem with flying around in my eyes, unless I'm wire brushing which i'll just look away.. so like i said, grinders, sanders, and forge welding yes... definitely eye protection.. having brass balls never hurt anybody lol
