I'm located in Ponta Delgada: It is amazing that you can walk to the airport from the city. In comparison to german cities it is super safe and the crime rate is very low. I never felt unsafe at night - In germany I wasn't able to go outside after sunset for running in the park in a big city (as a dude). Prices of local foods are reasonable and quality of local dairy products is very high. The islands nature is fantastic and especially enjoyable during the non-season months. Internet connection on this remote island is faster then in most of the big german cities. The availabillity of flight connections to US and Canada is nice.

Now that you're in Ponta Delgada please don't vote for the same mass immigration you voted in Germany which made it so dangerous now. Thanks.

All so true and to the point! I found the Azorean people to be the kindest I have ever met, they bring out the best in you, as does the amazing nature.
    Merry Christmas

The Azores has beautiful landscaped areas which is artist's dream. Painting the hills and the beaches with the mighty waves crashing against the rocks. The food is legendary and fishing for Barracuda is a great way to celebrate the holidays. I would have a lot of fun there. Tenha um feliz Natal e um próspero ano novo!

Very informative video...I was in Sao Miguel this July for the first time in over 30 yrs..I enjoyed my time there visiting my cousins and the beautiful natural sights on the island..
The only negative I had was the price of car rentals...crazy prices to rent a car...I think the alternative to this should be affordable tour guides.....I found it more expensive then the Mainland of Portugal...I will end in a positive note..saying I Love Azores and Mainland Portugal its culture..natural beauty and its friendly People....

Thank you for the feedback and I am sure it was an amazing experience! During summer the island is a fairy-tale. It is true - the price of car rentals in summer is very high (actually a couple of years ago this made it to the local news on the Azores, they were discussing this matter)

In the two crater lakes on Sao Miguel you can catch a lot of Carp. In one sitting, I caught 3 during, 2 hours of fishing. Around 2-3 kg each. I think there is Pikes, Perch and Crucians in the lakes as well. As for smaller lakes I don't know. Some are very difficult to reach due to very steep banks and djungle like terrain. Maybe big surprises are waiting. I have no idea if a license is required. No one said anything to me. I never saw anybody else fishing in the lakes. I think locals fish in the sea. Anyway that was many years ago. Maybe it changed.

It's true, the crater lakes have a lot of carp! They told me a theory, that they put the carps to the lakes on purpose, in case the volcanic activity would increase, the carps would die, so they are kind of for an "experiment" - that they would be able to tell based on the behavior of the carps whether there is any increased activity/danger. But it is just something I heard from a local, I don't know if it's true or if it makes sense.

The Azores are stunning where their essence fascinates, from the culture of the islands to their origins and the people are fantastic. As an Azorian, I am lucky to have lived and grown up in Flores, I always recommend friends to visit the Azores islands. I don't know how long you've lived in the Azores, do you plan on living for a long time or living in the Azores for ever?

I love the islands and the next few years, I definitely see myself around :) For now, I am often sent abroad because of my job, but whenever I am free, I go to Sao Miguel and I just completely love it. The future is very unpredictable but I hope to stay on the Azores as long as possible (or at least as long as I don't get sick of them haha)

@@noemimikleova I know that normally people from other countries are amazed by the Azores - islands and buy houses and start living on one of the islands. In Flores, I know some foreign people, from Vietnam, France, Germany and Sri Lanka, who live there. It was love at first sight and they already did their business there.
We don't know the future, I agree with you. I only left the Azores because there were no great opportunities and is low pay.
Have you visited all the islands? If so, which ones do you like the best?
