    Could not help to notice that, according to the man at 50 seconds, new vehicles are needed due to new Soviet weapons. Yes, Soviet.

      Not Russian, soviet. The newer ATGMs and MANPADS designed at the tail end of the USSR are still very capable weapon systems. they aren't THAT rare, and can be found occasionally in the hands of militias, usually Syrians or Iranian backed groups. For clarification, I'm talking about systems like Konkurs, RPG-29s and Iglas.

    The whole future of mechanized infantry forces for NATO, including the United States are 8x8 wheeled armored infantry vehices. A certain number of Main Battle tanks should be made available depending upon the mission. But high mobility, synchronization, modular designs and state of the art communications with computer sensors hooked up on a tactical internet is the way of the future. These 8x8 vehicles also need ways to coordinate with drone aircraft and robotic wheeled vehicles too. These use of these 8x8 wheeled armored infantry vehicles is multipurpose with modular applications so one vehicle can be refit with the needed weaponry or roles. Those roles are engineering, ambulance, antitank and/or motars and large field gun roles. Australia has moved to acquire the Boxer series of armored cars for their infantry forces. The United States, Canada and the United Kingdom should do the the same.

    I have looked at ALL of these and the one made in Finland is the BEST and has already been proved in combat against RPG7 and other. But knowing the MOD it will not come down to what is best for the troops of the UK.

    In Australia "Mechanized" means tracked while "motorized" means wheeled.
    Is the terminology different in Britain? or did someone mislabel something?

    • @ty4750
      @ty4750 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mechanized infantry is distinguished from motorized infantry in that its vehicles provide a degree of protection from hostile fire, as opposed to "soft-skinned" wheeled vehicles (trucks or jeeps) for motorized infantry

    Nice police truck. Constabulary missions aren't going away and the British army won't be doing nation-state wars on its own or any time soon and certainly not without US involvement. These systems are fine for real world use cases. They aren't for slugging matches with MBTs, though if fitted with top attack ATGMs there's no vehicle it couldn't kill.

    • @AlL-fc5uv
      @AlL-fc5uv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ImSuchaZwodder all these are armoured personnel carriers/infantry fighting vehicles.
      They carry infantry under protection of armour and these types have v shaped hulls to protect against ied threats.
      As well as this they can be used in a recy role where they are 20 miles or so in front of the main contingent.
      They are far more manouverable in certain aspects as they aren't limited by their weight in where they go.
      Most Tanks weigh 60t+ so most can't cross certain bridges or get bogged down.
      Tanks or tracked vehicles need lots of maintenance and tracks can cost thousands each.
      It's far more economical to have wheeled vehicles as they need less maintenance and are generally cheaper to run and keep in the battle.
      To answer other questions I doubt these will replace the vehicles that are currently in service as it has had recent upgrades and wheeled vehicles don't have the same cross country performance as tracked vehicles.
      I think the British army is being very smart and becoming more dynamic with inventory to reflect current affairs.
      As for soviet threats it's mainly old Chinese clones of Russian equipment and old soviet era equipment that organised cells of terrorists can get their hands on.
      Not much to do with Russia in my opinion.
      But it is all top of the line equipment so why not get the best.
      Just my opinion :)

    The Brits will send a fortune designing and talking for years about these machines and in the end buy German because its too difficult to bother making things now in Britain so we might as well give it to people that know what they are doing because if you remember ww2 British equipment was a joke , they are about to get a new Land Rover Defender soon after 70 years , well done Britain you should be congratulated on you speed at doing things , meanwhile Mercedes has now got 100% of the market world wide as usual .

  • @FHIPrincePeter

    seriously the height of those vehicles alone makes them a perfect target for anti-tank missiles. All that money wasted on Mastif to invent another vehicle that's is pant's, they are taking the Piss out of Tax payers money - it should go to Hospitals and reducing income inequality - that's the real enemy , not some cold war relic of the past.
