I’m a US Army military attaché at the US embassy in London and I’m utterly shocked at the state of London. All military personnel at the embassy is now ordered to carry a concealed firearm on private time outside the embassy. I’m also shocked at the large quantity of Islam and the many mosques.

I Grew up in London in the 80's. It was beautiful. We rode our BMX's from morning til it got dark. It was so nice... no dangers we have today... Now I will not live in London, no way. Besides these kids knives are about 3 feet long and sharp as a razor and they’re hacking each other up in the town centre. I went with my wife last year for a visit to London and it was our 4th night there before we heard a southern accent so it is undeniably not the city people once knew,and for many the change is definitely not for the better.
Was in Central London last week, Trafalgar Square, Tottenham court rd etc. As a white gammon felt like i shouldn't be there, not in my own country. That's progress for you.

I moved to London in 2003, left in 2014. When first there I could walk the dog all hours in Bayswater or Kensington. By the time I left, it wasn’t the same.

I tramped the streets with my mate when we were 14/15 and it was safe sleeping out, wandering around. If anything, people wanted to buy us a cup of tea, etc.

I moved to London - Ladbroke Grove in the mid 1980's. Coming back from pubs or from my mates after 11pm. The only people to be worried about were the police doing a stop and search
I lived in London in 1980/1. There were gangs of skinheads around and plenty of crime. There were the Brixton riots.

I worked in the Uk for six months in the early 70's, was very young then and loved going into London to shop and generally brouse about, it was so safe and clean. I now feel so sad for the state it's in these days, have heard so many comments from friends and relatives who have been recently who say ' they would never go back'. So, so sad: ( from Aussie)
A Squadron Leader in the RAF who used to go around the universities recruiting graduates to join up as officers in the RAF. He once told me he said that we should get officers from the lower ranks because the ones from Universities have 10 A levels but NO COMMON SENSE
