Kier Starmer is worth around £3million over and above their joint income. To suggest they cannot afford clothes for his wife to look presentable for public functions is ridiculous.

@@jeremygough1387 Well spotted! Now address my point?
@@mickreaddin4979 I think it's wrong. What else is wrong?
@@jeremygough1387 I've made my point. You've addressed it, and we agree. What more is there?
@@jeremygough1387Wow,I’m guessing you had ALL the boosters 🤦♂️
Why are we obsessed with 'growth' in the UK when so much is broken. We need to fix before we can grow!
Well its economics, more growth equals more jobs, therefore more tax revenue. Which is needed due to populations increasing, including the UK. Im sure theres a more eloquent explanation than this but im not an economist.
We live in an economy, not a society that's the problem.
The problem is not growth, it's the fairer distribution of power and the proceeds of development.
James im a easy going person but for years the British government has failed to do their job whatever government that has been and the people are blaming anything other than the government someone needs to call this out
James is a traitorous presstitute ,you tower above him.
Ffs... why can't our politicians just say "no thank you" when being offered *anything* ? Then we wouldn't have their respective supporters turning themselves into pretzels trying to spin it.
Like my prof who took some time to explain me the matter of the lesson in a one on one sitting. He refused even the coffee I bought him as thanks, because it could appear to be a bribe
Thank you for that last, much-needed, hilarious segment! 😆😂
Glad Obama got mentioned. While I'm not necessarily a fan of Obama, at least a non-white, non-British man was brought up. 😊👋
And that last quip about Jesus was just the perfect icing on the cake. 😆😂
Chef's kiss! 👍👏🤩🤩
James my favourite presenter.
Funny
He's decent.
Let us stop for a bit, and ask ourselves. What’s the name of The Game ? The thing we are all involved in ? It’s a kind of war - war by other means. And all kinds of regrettable things happen in the course of a war -even in a just war. Shabby things, thoughtless things. Nobody emerges with totally clean hands. But no-one regrets our victory. Nor should they. So let’s not get carried away. Our eternal enemy think they have found a flaw they can exploit . And they will have their moment of joy. So we must eat humble pie. Let’s swallow it, learn our lesson , and carry on. Because our Cause is just.
This!
You raise a question I've been asking for a long time. I can barely afford my rent in Brentford, where you also live. My pension is minimal so it certainly won't cover it. Where am I supposed to go when I get to retirement age?
It's odd how long it has taken for the middle classes and media to acknowledge this problem. I was having breakdowns about this 10+ years ago.
To answer James' question: when you have the audacity to have been born extremely poor, you've known your whole life you'll not be retiring or having any sort of security without being incredibly lucky.
My retirement plans involve climate catastrophe, which will hopefully solve all of our housing/retirement problems.

JOB insisting there is a difference between labour politicians and Tory politicians is a vibe
But it's true, though, innit.
To be honest I used to read the Times, Telegraph and the Mail but I do not any longer because as serious newspapers their standards are a disgrace, I realise to some extent that editors are controlled by others, but the level of bias now is horrendous. It's about time we got back to some serious journalism without (side-show bob making an appearance all the time). I'm really disappointed at how far these newspapers have sunk.
Nigel telling tall tales, quelle surpris!!
James, we were asked to hold KS and his gov to a higher standard. That's the issue
Its a sad moment to acknowledge humanity probably will not last, hence why we are trying to preserve human life in this 5d crystal.
Id save the guy who can recreate humans through science, probably the one who created this tech in the first place.
Right wing press out to get the labour party.
Just a quick question James.
Why did Nigel win twice as the best or number one news presenter why can't it be you James :
Because he's on telly and promoted constantly, even by BBC, as the next best thing after sliced bread.
This is pretty embarrassing for O'Brien.

My wife buys her own clothes from the family budget, and I buy mine from the same budget.
Is she on telly and a public figure?
@@ArtyFactual_Intelligence Ridiculous argument! Starmer is a multimillionaire with joint income of around 200k, and he can't afford nice clothes for his wife? Fcof!!
Seconding the Tom Lehrer suggestion! Utterly adore this man!
I wouldve rung in for Seb Coe. Just for wind-up.
I would save my dad. The cleverest kindest man I have ever met.
um, Princess Anne doesn't spend hours pillow talking with someone who has actual power James, false equivalency

I'd save Carl Beech,
I think the fact you have to compare this situation to what Boris has done says a lot
Yes, it says that Starmer hasnt done anything wrong.

Carl Sagan. I'd save him.... acht, he's dead a while... David Attenborough.
I wish Sagan was available. Read his book, The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. Even just TH-cam his A Pale Blue Dot speech. Marvelous human.
After this week of call-ins (ooft!) he puts things in perspective in those calm tones.

After all deductions of tax etc, I take home about £15k a year. Working for local government, if I was given a gift it would have to be declared. Even packs of biscuits are taken tentitavely.
If even a bottle of wine could be concidered influential, then how can anyone say, declared or not, that a £20k gift would not influence someone??? The way you speak to someone can influence them never mind gifts totalling more than a years salary for some.
With a holiday in Wales and some dresses?
@@mattsawyer343 £20k worth of dresses, in one instance.
The rental-retirement problem is huge.
"You can only become prime minister if you accept the gifts," when you are of a normal background, rang a bell with me.
That is somehting my father told me over and over again in different words, that you can only rise through the ranks to power as a normal person, if others in the circle of power can buy you, or have enough dirt on you, that they can be asured that you behave as they want you to behave. Those gifts work doubly, they either buy you, or if you decide to do your own thing later, they got something to blackmail you
They’ll struggle to find dirt. And that’s why they’re turning this non story into a story.
@@mattsawyer343 that is what i meant. If they got nothing on him they, Tories and their smearnalists from the Torygraph, will fight Starmer all the way
It's not that important in the scheme of things .
It’s a sticky wicket trying to justify one politician over any others , the shocks will keep coming .
You mean comparing one corrupt PM who got non stop top range freebies and a PM who has done nothing wrong and declared what he needs to declare?
Hed still have the same number of bodyguards CP guys whether in stands or box
“Surgeries”?
Housing benefit has always been a subsidy to landlords imo.
Well the money ends up there, but it keeps a lot of poorer peoples head above water and the streets less packed with rough sleepers.
Ghandi was a deeply weird and unpleasant person.
If you are from that subcontinent and from a different religion / caste I am not surprised to hear that viewpoint.

Thanks for that erudite contribution.
Yeah, keep taking the freebies and ignore what people are saying? Accepting glasses, clothes etc is not the same as accepting an *invition to a national event.
(the caveat being, *who* extended the invite.)

Thanks for your contribution. Very helpful.
32 seconds in and he’s already mentioned right wing media
Is that relevant?
@@andrewstevenson118 IDK, you tell us, nerd-boy
@@jeffsimon9594 Yes, I am a proud and self-described nerd. What do want me to tell you? 🙂
@@andrewstevenson118 Yes - the media is relevant because it’s the battlefield on which we fight. We have no choice. It’s privately owned remember and that’s OK - we don’t want a State-owned media. So we have to be wary of them as well.
@@andrewstevenson118 yes. My point is that he obsesses over what he perceives as an unfair media. He spends his time calling out other peoples bias as a way to detract from the story when the story is something he doesn’t like.
Take starmer and the Labour front bench. Instead of focus on their wrongdoing he actually talks about the reporting of it as being biased and it not being as bad as the last lot. He’s a paid up member of starmers fan club and has the brass neck to moan about the bias leanings of everyone who disagrees with him.
So yes, it’s relevant
Just to bring my comment over here too - OH NOOOO THE POOR POOR Starmer, go on James fluff him up, YEEES let him take bribes from the rich cause he's such a blighted poor man making 160k by his little self, while taking money from the poorest people in the UK. Let the pensioners die in the cold while Starmer enjoys his fancy glasses, clothes and other BRIBES from the rich. That's a fact. If you were against Rishi and Boris getting that , you should be against this behaviour now!.
Thank you for irrelevant input!
Y'right?
"That's the fact"
No it's not, you've got them wrong.
The poorest pensioners won't have anything "taken", they still qualify. The majority of pensioners are on £27k/year (more than the median working person who gets no handouts), they don't need the WFA.
"If you were against Rishi and Boris getting that, you should be against this behaviour now!"
Are you alright? You understand that Boris legitimately broke multiple rules, tried to cover up what should be publicly declared, while Starmer has, in fact, broke none and has made no attempt to cover up anything, right? Why are you trying to equate the two when they're not at all the same?
"That's the fact" - this is the problem with keyboard warriors online, they've got 'fact' mixed up with 'belief'.
Stop making excuses for them.. they're every bit as bad as the Tories!
Do elaborate on one or maybe two things that fully equate them to the behaviour of Tories from the last 14 years.
@annamchugh. Easy ball - so you hit it for six. But remember, bowlers are crafty. They temp you away from your crease. Over-excitement comes at a cost.
Not been sacked yet?
Oh JAMES take a day off from the same old blah blah blah. 😊
I never liked this Barlow!!! He’s so full of it!!!!!
