The writer of OFAH had a grandad that used to be a coal-man, who claimed compensation by falling down holes! I'm on a binge of all your vids, it's nice to see someone not from here enjoy/get our comedy so much :) x
@@alpine_newt yes his death was quite sudden, had a hear attack but recovered well enough to be released from hospital only to suffer another heart attack and die instantly
The only comedy show that can have you rolling with laughter one minute and bring you to tears the next, brilliant writing and brilliantly acted,John Sullivan (the writer) deserves a knighthood
I'm quite amazed by how much British cultural relevance Josh gets considering he's American. My girlfriend always complains about the volume me of his laugh when the I'm watching his reactions lol I love this channel so much! Great genuine reactions!!!
This episode originally featured Leonard Pearce as granddad instead of Albert, Pearce filmed half of the episode I think, but passed away before filming was complete. There are images online of granddad in this episode, but no footage
If no one mentioned it on the Patreon, CD sticker is for the diplomats, so foreign embassy employees who usually get away with not paying parking tickets.
CD stands for Corps Diplomatique, officials from foreign governments who, one supposes, are immune from some of the more minor traffic regulations, in the name of entente cordiale. Of course, nowadays, diplomatic vehicles in the UK have diplomatic plates - eg., the main ambassadorial vehicle for the American embassy has USA 1, and diplomats generally have plates like 111 D 111, whilst embassy staff have plates like 111 X 111.
At 3.39 many of us brits all know and some did put "Tax in post" on the windscreen,it's road tax that we get from the post office,it's called (RFL) Road fund licence today. The post would take like 2 weeks to send a paper tax disc to put on the windscreen.Police sometimes gave us "Producers" which is your version of a citation if they didn't believe us when were tugged ie pulled over. We had to go to a police station within 7 days to produce our documents which showed everything was roadworthy & legal. During opening hours of the post office many taxed their car to be on the safe side. Good old days 🤣
No. It stands for Corps Diplomatique, all the embassies etc accredited to a particular country and therefore whose vehicles are exempt from the usual restrictions and penalties.
@@chrismackett9044 Yes. Vehicles bearing CD plates have diplomatic immunity. In effect you compulsive commit all sorts of traffic offences whilst displaying them and get away with it. What I find hilarious is that Del really believes that people wouldn’t be suspicious of CD plates on a beat-up old yellow three-wheeler.
Cars often feature the letters "CD" (for "corps diplomatique"), "D" (for "diplomat") or prefix of international organisations with diplomatic privileges,
In reality uncle Albert would have just said settle out of court as they'll find out I've done it loads of times. But for the purposes of comedy and the episode that's why that didn't happen.
CD plates aren’t to to with the police. It stands for Corps Diplomatique. Usually they are affixed to registration plates of vehicles used by diplomats and embassy staff, giving them exemption from being penalised for most traffic offences and freeing them from a number of traffic restrictions.
The letters that came through the letter box were Gas bills, so he got rid of them lol
The "Jimmy Savile of Peckham" line hasn't aged well lol
I was thinking the same thing 🤦♂️
I just commented the exact same thing then noticed this comment...
Neither had the kids 😆
(Sorry)

The Jimmy Savile of Peckham ... I almost spat out my tea😂.
Leonard Pearce actually recorded half this episode before his death, it was originally a grandad episode
So they'd already started filming the series when he passed? Sullivan must have had to do some pretty hasty rewrites!
@@alpine_newt yes his death was quite sudden, had a hear attack but recovered well enough to be released from hospital only to suffer another heart attack and die instantly
Never knew that
Wow I can imagine grandad doing this and del telling him he's a lazy old sod hahahaha

It was a comedy with heart.
Agreed. Undoubtedly the top of the pile the writing for this sitcom.
It would have to be a posthumous one.
@@scottandrewbrass1931 posthumous or not he still deserves one
Bobbierocksbuster - John Sullivan died in April 2011, so I think that'd be pretty unlikely to happen now. He was an OBE, which is close enough.

You're so lucky. I wish I was watching these for the first time too!
My thoughts exactly!
"Jimmy Saville of Peckham" has a different meaning now. The charity marathon runner and beloved celeb turned out to be a nasty guy.
Only if they knew then what we know now 😂

Oh ok thanks bud!
The "Jimmy Saville of Peckham" is not something you'd want to be known as nowadays.

Seen these episodes soooooo many times and never get bored. Super classic
Awesome man glad you are enjoying!
Great episode, forgotten most of these. Really enjoying your reactions to Only Fools
To be fair to Albert he did say to take the money when the solicitor said they'd settle for two grand out of court.
Once he said he did it for grandad, that was it for Del, it didn’t matter anymore… Grandad was meant more to him than the money 😥
1:11 I think they must have been bills..he didn't want them so posted them back out lol
Brilliant episode.. Yuppy Love will always be my favourite episode
He put back throught the letter box cause there bills
The brown envelopes were the bills. Uk bills are always in that style of envelope
Yep... send them back through the letterbox where they came from 😂
