Hey, guys! Great video as always! I'm here for a potential rules clarification: When swaying ministers, the cards DO NOT have to be from the same suit. They just need to match the suits of clearings you have at least one piece in. Example (using your setup): You can sway the Earl of Stone (4 cards) by revealing 2 bunny cards, 1 fox card and 1 mouse card (or swapping any of those for bird cards).
My boyfriend and I finally got ahold of a copy of Root. We played it 5 times in the span of about 3 weeks we loved it so much. Decided we needed all the expansions. Thanks for your wonderfully clear explanation!
I can't believe I've never found this channel before! Someone in the Oath Kickstarter suggested it. So clear and concise and the camera angles are perfect! I can see it becoming a favorite! Subscribed and notifications on. Thank you for doing such a great job!
Wow, you are pressing on! Impressive! I hope you keep on going with Root here on the channel. I would love to see on an regular basis gameplay videos. I'm seeing you as an unofficial Leder Games Game Play channel :-)
Great video, as always! I will need to double-check, but I believe that you can only sway ministers if you have the territory count to back up each card i.e. 3 fox territories controlled + 3 fox cards (w/ any number of bird card substitutes). I'm also not 100% sure if they all need to be of the same suit, but that's how I've been playing it and it felt pretty balanced. I don't believe that was mentioned in this video, so I wanted to bring that to your attention. I look forward to all of your future videos, especially the ones about the easily forgotten rules!
You are right. There are some "strategy guide" videos on TH-cam, which do not obey this rule. Just revealing cards to sway ministers without enough pieces in matching clearings. Also, a question please. If I reveal a card to build. This revealed card can not be revealed again in next step to sway minister? Is it out of use for this round? Am I understand the rules right?
Thanks :) I am glad they are helping! We might do the other factions at some point - it’s a time thing mostly. Each video takes a lot of produce and we have a wide range of games on our timeline.
I don't know why, but I feel the burrow would be better off as a normal clearing style area with building areas, and could be taken over by others going through tunnels
It will 2Tomatoes already said that they are publishing it right when they get the green light from the original editor just like the rest of translating editors. Check 2tomatoes latest you tube video. Cheers!
How is the nobles deck arranged. Do you shuffle and pick whatever card is on top, arrange by cost or can you search the deck to grab what one you want.
So if I got this right. The dutchy crafts based off what clearings their buildings are in. But wouldn't that mean you could potentially never be able to craft all the cards because you can only have up to 6 clearings? And what if you built multiple buildings in one clearing. Then that would mean you have even fewer options for crafting ):
@@Quackalope and would you say that it's per battle? Like. In one battle I loose 2 buildings. So I lose one minister. But another battle happens and I loose another building. So I would lose another minister right?
Thanks for posting this video. Im still waiting for my copy to arrive :(. Question: have you tried the BBP on the lake-map? What do u do with the priority? In the normal map, the clearing priority is easy to manage, but on the lake side, there are different spots. Any ideas?
Lots of people are :) - be patient! I think the BBP is the Better Bot system? If so I have not tried it yet - I am waiting on the official ones to play.
@@Quackalope Yeah I ment the Better Bot Project. The official rules are available to download from their kickstarter page, right? I downloaded the latest files yesterday. Would love u to do a video covering a bot war :D
I have been digging everywhere and I can't find anything solid, when you lose a crown does that mean you lose the ability to sway one more minister of that tier? It's not clear at all in my opinion but it's not a question people seem to be asking. Also the fellow on the left seemed convinced you lose ministers when you lose buildings which made things a bit murkier. The removal of a crown could just be a way to signify that the next time you recruit a minister of that tier you do not score more VP from it.
I interpreted the crown thing are you stated in your last sentence there. The crown removal is just so you don't collect those victory points again when you sway. For example. I swayed a lord. I use the crown and gained 3vp. But I lost a building and intern lost the lord. When I was able to sway him again I didn't get any vp. Not until I swayed my secend lord and used the secend crown
How do they actually get points? So many of the others have more straightforward means to score. The cats and the eyrie, no question: getting buildings on the map. The vagabond doing quests. I didn’t get a sense of how they do it, except the comment on the lord. But it’s 4 cards! And presence in 4 clearings with the same suit. Seems so difficult! And having seen the gameplay video, I know he struggled with this.
They get points for each mole they recruit, removing other players tokens, crafting - and specifically getting their high ranking moles out. Matt miss interpreted the rules - The cards you have in hand need to match the clearings, however the clearing themselves do not need to match. You could recruit by having a rabbit, fox, and two bunny clearings with matching cards.
Quackalope so swaying the special moles is the specific way they get it done. Also, having presence (not necessarily dominance) in 4 clearings and their respective cards can get you to place them then? That makes it a looooot easier.
@@Quackalope we could ask Andrew to do a gameplay with us and have him speak in French. Or Mandarin. I could even dust off my Armenian (for your huge number of followers in Armenia).

Yep! You see correct :) Matt played on hard mode!
The moles just have to match clearings - not cards :)
