    I have a black 85 I bought new 38 years ago. I factory ordered it radio delete. As of today, it has 2,684 miles.

      @briandesrocher6882 I'm gonna take an educated guess. If it's a low mileage 85 I'm gonna go with black . 🖤

      Wow. So you've got this guy beat even. That's wild. You should really do a little video on it. Don't even have to talk or show your face if you don't want to. Why the radio delete though?

    They all can't be this clean and pristine. But we need to save as many classic cars as possible. And 80's cars are classics.

      Old cars aren’t going away and you’ll always be able to drive them. It may cost more to do so, but they’re basically toys and not daily drivers anyway. BTW they shouldn’t be daily drivers because they’re not as safe on the roads as today’s cars.

    • @richardisner3671
      @richardisner3671 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MyClassicCarTV Safety on the road is the responsibility of the driver. Older cars do not handle, brake, or steer as well as newer cars. So when people drive older cars they adjust the way they drive to compensate for the older car's drivability.

    I really wanted an ‘80s MonteCarlo for my first car and the one reason I changed my mind about it & other cars of its time was the fact it wasn’t available with a manual trans. My first car was an ‘86 Mustang GT 5-spd instead.

      I had a series of G-bodies (2 Regals, a Cutlass, and an El Camino) with the same Tremec TKO and Keisler conversion parts back in the early '00s, it's a damn shame they never came that way (aside from '78-81, I think, Malibus and El Caminos). A factory 5-speed Monte Carlo SS, Hurst/Olds 442, El Camino SS, or T-Type Regal/Grand National would've been AWESOME, and I think they would've sold a bunch of them.

      In 1984 when Mexico outlawed V8 engines for the 1985 model year Chevrolet wanted to go out with a bang with their Monte Carlo. They made very few blue or white SS models with a 350 4 speed using the Pontiac Grand Prix instruments and and a wood steering wheel plus checkerboard wheels. I have been looking for an original one for a while and found a white one in original condition. Too many have had the engines swapped out for something else. The car was faster than the Corvette that year which is why Chevrolet US didn't offer it. I can get the white one for whoever wants it, it is still available. I located it for a classic car dealer that asked me for one, but they have not gotten back to me in a while.@@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney

    They were advertising them as 1983 and a half at the small Chev dealer near us. That blue color looked so nice, it was dropped for 85-88 models. Black, burgundy or white IIRC. Sad they were so underpowered because the design is a classic.

      They felt like they had decent acceleration for the time. The 2004r transmission seemed like it had a lower first gear. Good mileage on the highway for a V8 and had a good steering feel and good handling.

    I worked at a GM Dealership in mid-late 80s and its a wonder any of them survive because of the poor quality they were. literally they fell apart on the lot. Salesman where always carrying trim and what not back to our body shop and asking if we could re attach or glue them back on. We often would have to repaint new cars coming in because the paint quality was so horrid from the factory. I once saw a Monte Carlo like this ( but about a 86 and pale yellow ) that the paint was so thin on you could see the black primer streaks underneath it in spots. I could go on and on about such things. None of us that worked there drove GM cars ( unless they were older ones) I can tell you that LOL. Especially the FWD models they were really junk. The Buicks were about the nicest GM cars of the time I saw as the build quality on them was actually pretty good. The Buicks were even better than the Caddys.
    I can imagine just how many he looked at before he found one this nice.
