That kid was supposed to leave, and do his own life; never be in the middle of a quarrel between two lovers, they fight now, later they are in bed. Once I intervened to protect my Mom from my abusive Father, I pushed him back away from my Mother - result: I was kicked out from the house, and my father and mother got back together again.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if both were abusive.
Granted I also wouldn’t be surprised if the mom faked it to make it seem her excuse seem legit. Sorry but why not have a witness walk about it in this video about her being hurt. And wrappings mean nothing.
The mom was clearly a liar and manipulator so who knows what the truth is.

There have been other cases very similar. Some involved kids much younger. Some had a sympathetic jury or DA. Had Jim Tan and his mom been upfront and had the mom not waited 4 days to call 9-11, he may have gotten off lightly. For all we know, she could have been manipulating her son into wanting to defend her at any cost.

Well, Charlie Tan was sentenced to 20 yrs on weapons charges. He admitted to killing his father.
On Feb. 4, 2015 Tan wrote that his mother indicated the “next time” his father would kill her.
“I knew that in killing my father I would be throwing away my future, but I wasn’t thinking of that after the February 4 call"
"They [attorneys] advised me not to admit that I shot my father. They were the legal experts, and so I accepted that strategy, even though I knew what I had done was wrong.”
The mother is selfish and destroyed this young man's life. There are things you don't involve kids in, and this is one of them. She had the police and the domestic hotline for this.

These lawyers MUST be smart enough to know what emotional abuse causes someone especially a child growing up. Not excusing this son for killing anyone, but sometimes people indeed just snap when they reach their breaking point. And he's not a cold blooded murder going out on a spree nor killed his dad for no reason or a paycheck...rather his MOTHER was being physically abused and he couldn't stand it. I'm guessing the male prosecutor is the same kind of monster.

The husband may have been an abusive man towards his wife, but if there is a monster in this story, it’s the mother. She ruined his life in my opinion.

Poor Charlie! All American boy who couldn't escape the tentacles of his sicko family traditions. And damn the prosecutors, who couldn't just move on. Nope, when they didn't get a "win" in the murder trial, they hauled him in on gun charges, and now he's serving a 20-year sentence in federal prison. How is that in anyone's best interest?

Correct, the prosecutor just wanted to blame someone to show that they’re so capable of bringing charges. 20 years is akin to a manslaughter charge! There’s not enough evidence to show Charlie pulled the trigger. It’s a tragedy all around. His life is over cos of his mother’s messy relationship with his father. 😭

They went after him for reasons other than justice ...he had it all. They just wanted to crush him... despicable

@@femdivinemind7777 Indeed! It makes me wonder whether that one tenacious prosecutor, who was called out by the judge, beats up his own wife and kids. This story hits hard, because I had a lot of Asian high school students, and I well remember what some of them went through with their immigrant parents when all they wanted to do was be plain old American kids.

I was a domestic violence advocate and hearing that she called 911 several times and the police just leaving a card is baffling to me. They should have connected her to the advocates they have at the police station who could have educated and assisted her with safety protocols and addressed barriers to her leaving the situation. Or connected to community resources like DV nonprofits for long term services. I don’t blame the mom or the son, it’s the law enforcement’s negligence that has caused this tragedy.

@@purplelove3666 In 2010, Jodi Arias, a petite woman, was convicted of murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander. Despite her small stature, she displayed significant strength and determination in committing the crime. Women of all races, even petite ones, possess incredible strength, especially when enraged. Their resilience and fierce determination make them unstoppable.
A woman full of anger can exhibit incredible strength due to the adrenaline surge, which boosts her physical power and sharpens her focus, making her a force to be reckoned with regardless of race.
