Great video, I was always unsure about doing this this because of bleeding the system because of air getting into the pipes.
I changed my filter today and it was very easy, Some fuel did leak out of the pipes when taking them off but I filled the new filter with fuel before connecting it up and the engine started as normal . No bleeding required 2002 T4 2.5 TDI .
I do have the Haines manual .

@@HaynesManuals It would be great if you had the time to do more videos on the easy to intermediate jobs shown in the Haines Manual . Seeing a job done gives DIY fixers like me more confidence to try it.
There must be many more of the intermediate jobs that we DIY fixers could do with a little guidance.

Hi, I have starting issues with one of these. I checked the fuel level sender in the fuel tank and noticed it does not incorporate a lift pump like newer VW's. Could you tell me if there is a lift pump anywhere in the fuel circuit or does it solely rely on the injection pump, just like most Ford designs?

It would appear to rely purely on the injection pump - there is no separate lift pump.
