It's wild how many choices there are for digital tools. I wish I had space for an in-person game at my house with one of those tables with the embedded tv. Our LGS offers tables, but we're crowded in by the card players, and there's not a lot of space for devices. I really like the look of Dungeon Alchemist. Also wanna plug Obsidian, overwhelming as it is. I'm working on organizing my Curse of Strahd campaign in it, and using it to plan some creative writing. It's awesome, and it's free.
There really is so many! Some of those tools like Obsidian seem like they can be amazing...but also a bit overwhelming at first haha. Thanks for the comment!
Hey everyone! First, thanks for watching the video. Second, I'm just getting started with D&D/TTRPG content, so please consider subscribing to get more! Also -- I'm continuously updating the list of DM tools/resources on my patreon (free/public post - you don't even need an account): www.patreon.com/posts/amazing-d-d-108183931?Link&
I've looed at Obsidian and other tools like it, I *know* how helpful it can be...but man, feels like the ease-of-use when it comes to getting started is a bit overwhelming haha.
The best tools: Pencil and Paper. Got a hat, then you have dice, number 20 pieces of paper 1-20 and there ya go, every player picks a number out of the hat instead of dice.
Thank you for the Fantasy Grounds mention. My VTT of choice. Love Dungeon Alchemist and Fantasy Grounds for map making.

I use obsidian. I can roll dice and roll on tables, track HP all in the notebook. It's changed how I DM drastically.
